The Review: The Intouchables

My cousin Mala has been trying to get me to see this French movie The Intouchables for years now. It stars François Cluzet as Philippe who is a very rich quadriplegic that is looking for a new helper since they don't tend to last very long due to all of the responsibilities. In walks Driss played by Omar Sy. He is just showing up to keep his welfare coming. He lives at home with his mother and a bunch of children and was recently released from prison.

Driss has no real desire to be hired and just wants them to sign his papers to keep getting his checks. Driss ends up getting kicked out of his mothers home and when he comes back the next day and finds out he is hired. He was the only applicant that didn't treat Philippe like he was handicapped. Driss gets him high, jokes with him, makes jokes about him, and just acts like he's any other person. Except for the butt wiping. He doesn't want any part of that.

Batman V. Superman XXX Looks Better Than Real Thing

For a while now porn films have somehow managed to make costumes in their movies look better than versions that costs over a hundred times more to produce. Last year Axel Braun put out the Captain America XXX where the most of the characters were truer to comic book form than any Marvel movie ever did. This time Batman v. Superman is targeted and they manage to do the same again.

I don't even care if the acting in this is bad. They look great. With the Catwoman alone they have won. I get pissed when they change the way a character looks from comics. If you're gonna do it make it look better. The chick playing Maxima looks awesome. I like that they gave Supergirl a new look. If you've seen images for the new series (click here for that) its the same ass costume you've always seen but with stockings.

Bossmon EP Dan-e-o feat. Chip Fu

Last month rapper Dan-e-o posted on his Facebook and Twitter page about a contest to produce he and Chip-Fu's new song “Bossmon.” I threw my hat into the ring and I'll be damned if I wasn't one of the five to win. I made about ten versions because when I do things I don't do them half-assed. Here are the winners along with the original version. Please check this out and share the link.

Theater Whore: Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland 4/10

This will have some spoilers. As Tomorrowland ended I asked myself “Who would like this film that I know?” and “Would I recommend this to someone with a kid?” The answers I came up with were “No one” and “No.” This is about a girl that was chosen to help save the future. If I say anymore than that I'll just start to confuse myself all over again.

Theater Whore: Far From The Madding Crowd

Far From The Madding Crowd 8/10

This was not Mad Max Fury Road. I thought Cam and I were gonna see that or this Japanese animated film. So when we got to the Arclight and I started getting confused about show times I discovered that were were gonna be watching a movie that I've never heard of called Far From The Madding Crowd. Thankfully I trust her taste in movies 100% so I told her to not even tell me what the movie is supposed to be about. I didn't know the plot, the stars of it, or anything. She took a huge chance because when I see people dressed in certain outfits, Victorian to be exact, I say “Nope.” Glad I didn't this time. This will contain a lot of spoilers.

10 Reasons Why You Should Have Watched The Flash

Its crazy how easily I could've missed out on one of the best series of the past year and a half. The Flash aired its first season on the CW as a spinoff from Arrow which is a show I had no interest in watching. If Donnie hadn't told me to check it out I never would've because that channel is not a channel I watch. Yeah, back in the day I watched Felicity, Dawson's Creek, and Smallville but that was it. Oh, and I think Buffy. It also didn't help that I watch everything online or Youtube. This is going to be full of spoilers so if you don't wanna know stop reading. But if you're one of those people that can read 'em and not care then knock yourself out.

This show is about a forensics guy named Barry Allen (Grant Austin) that was struck by lightning after an experiment in the city went wrong and can move ridiculously fast. Others were also given powers and he fights against them with the help of Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) who was in charge of the experiment at S.T.A.R Labs, Dr. Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) who is a bio-engineering expert, and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) their mechanical engineer. His father was arrested for the murder of his mom after a “man in yellow” killed her and no one believes it. He was adopted by his fathers friend Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) and lived with his daughter Iris who he likes but never tells. Here are the 10 Reasons Why You Should Have Watched The Flash.

You Had One Job: Jem & The Holograms Movie

I like to think that I'm a reasonable person...to an extent. I will give things a chance if giving the proper motivation. But there are some things that are so bad that I refuse to give them a chance. The new Jem movie trailer is one. “You're an alleged man, Dante. Why do you even care?! It's a girls cartoon character!” Everything in that sentence is true. I am allegedly a man and Jem was a girls cartoon...that I watched. Every day it was on I watched along with My Little Pony and Rainbow Brite. I wasn't always a 6 foot 1, 220lbs. man. At one time I was a very tiny boy with no hopes of getting taller that knew how to paint his mother's nails and watched every cartoon I could get my eyes on. Jem was one of them. Why? Because she's truly outrageous, you asshole. Truly, truly, truly outrageous.

Or at least she was.

The Review: Payback & Leon: The Professional

I watched the Mel Gibson movie Payback. I hadn't seen this in a while, like, the early 2000's and it came out in 1999. Its a pretty basic premise about a guy named Porter that gets double-crossed by his partner in crime and his wife. He gets shot in the back twice but ends up surviving and coming back for revenge. This movie was violent as hell and had some great villains.

Gregg Henry who plays his dirty ass former partner plays the jerk pretty well and I wish I could have seen a movie where the two of them do jobs together before the betrayal.

There seems to be a lot of back story that feels missing within the relationships but its still a good movie. Yeah, I'm fully aware of Gibson's reputation now but it doesn't take from the fact that he made some cool ass movies back in the day. I also managed to watch another movie I hadn't seen in a minute.

Theater Whore: Ex Machina

Ex Machina 7/10

There will be some spoilers. I got to check out the movie Ex Machina. This is a really good movie that has a lot of mindfuckery to it. It stars Domhnall Gleeson who was in Frank as Caleb. He is a computer programmer that wins a contest to meet with the CEO of the company he works for, Blue Book. Its like a bionic Google. So he gets placed on a helicopter and flies hours away and told he will be picked up one week later.

Caleb gets there and meets Nathan played by the incredible and underrated Oscar Isaac. He is a very straightforward guy and tells Caleb to get the awkwardness out of the way. Nathan introduces Caleb to his assistant Kyoko. She speaks no English and prepares meals and such. Nathan tells Caleb that he wants him to help test out some new AI that he is working on named Ava played by Alicia Vikander. He wants Caleb to talk to Ava and see how well she replies during human interaction. Nathan's entire home is recorded with cameras.

The Review: Big Trouble In Little China

As absurd as the poster for the movie Big Trouble In Little China is, it doesn't lie. A lot of movies from the 80's will have crazy ass posters and b full of things that never even happen in the movie. Everything on this is in the movie. Swords, guns, wizards, a big ass truck. All of that is in this. I had not seen this movie in a while and forgot how insane it was and also how ineffective Jack Burton played by Kurt Russell was.

Burton is a trucker that ends up giving his friend a ride and gets caught up in the middle of a kung fu gang war in an alley. Then all of a sudden some guys come down from the sky shooting lightning and blades and start killing everyone. Then Lo Pan shows up and gets run over by the truck but lives and blinds Burton with lights from his mouth and eyes. This all happens!

Theater Whore: Avengers Age Of Utron

Avengers Age Of Ultron 10/10

This will contain spoilers. I was thinking of giving this a 9 but that would mean that I thought Avengers: Age Of Ultron was really good but that there was something that made it not worthy of a 10. As of right now I can't think of anything that would make me do that. This movie was so damned good. On paper if you tried to tell me everything that happens in this movie I would say it was not possible. The movie would have to be four hours long, ignore most of the characters, or just be a mess. This was a little less than two hours and managed to introduce new characters well and make past ones shine more than they ever have.

This movie starts off with a bang. If you showed up five minutes late you missed one of the coolest action scenes ever. Its everything you would want as a comic book fan or a fan of these movies. The Avengers are on a country called Sokovia where they have found Loki's scepter. Inside this base they are raiding are Pietro and Wanda Maximoff aka Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. For stupid legal reasons they can't use those names.

Mayweather/Pacquiao Stunk

You probably can't tell from the way my body looks, my hobbies, or my demeanor but I was a fan of boxing ever since I was a tiny little kid. I used to watch it all the time with my father on TV which NBC has recently started doing again and on PPV when it was worth it. Boxing was an event. We weren't going to order a sub par event. When I was little it was Sugar Ray Leonard, then Mike Tyson fights, then...I'm not sure. After he went crazy we'd just watch on TV or highlights on the news.

This past weekend there was the Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Manny Pacquiao fight. Billed as the biggest fight in boxing history. $74 million at the gate. About $400 million in PPV sales. About $100 to order it. Millions for each fighter. Sponsors all over the place. Burger King came to the ring with Mayweather. It was weird. Not even cool weird. This entire PPV was weird. If this is the best that boxing has to offer then I am officially done with it.

You Had One Job: Suicide Squad

The new image of the cast of the Suicide Squad movie came out while I was caught up in the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight and hanging with a cute chick all weekend. I went to Twitter dodging Age of Ultron spoilers (I'm seeing it today!) and saw the cast and got confused. Not just because they look like a group of bad guys that would be in any B-level action film, but also because I didn't know who most of them were. Here they are listed by the photo above.

Slipknot (Adam Beach), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez). Or three Punisher's, a ninja woman, a raver, some sick woman, a monster, a Black Punisher, and a gang member. Some people are upset that the Joker isn't in this image. He isn't on the team and shouldn't even be in this already bloated film.
