The Review: Backrooms

Backrooms 0/10

This is one of those types of films that I absolutely cannot stand. Sometimes it feels like someone has access to do something and they do it and I get absolutely no joy from it. But for whatever reason millions of people seem to love it. I wish I was one of them. This movie was straight up stupid to me. Me and my lady were watching this and she kept calling it Backshots and I laughed every single time. We started watching and we had pretty much no reaction to it except for a jump scare in the beginning. The rest of what we were able to watch was like how most suspense and horror films are done these days with an unlikable cast. We have this guy named Clark that we don't care about and his therapist named Mary that I had zero interest in. Clark owns a crappy furniture store. He keeps complaining about a high electricity bill and issues with lights. He's also an alcoholic and angry. Those two tend to go hand in hand.

One night while sleeping at the store he ends up finding a secret door that he can push and teleport his way through. On the other side of it is like a strange version of his store. There's furniture halfway in the walls and weird sounds and such. I didn't care. He ends up going in and out of this place and as my lady started looking up the synopsis and if anything happens I'm just fast forwarding. I'm seeing nothing but a lot of yellow room and them walking around it. Oh yeah because at some point he ends up getting an employee of his and her dude to come in there with him. The therapist ends up down there as well and Clark seems to have lost his mind. He ends up turning into a monstrous version of his mascot from furniture store. The therapist ends up bashing him with the rock and trying to escape him and then a team and hazmat suits take her and don't really offer up an explanation for any of this nonsense. I would have been so mad to have seen this in the theater. I don't know if I would have stayed. This movie felt like a complete waste of time for someone who did not even sit through the entire thing.
