Sitting In The Aisle: Deadpool And Wolverine

Deadpool And Wolverine 10/10

This will be full of spoilers! I fucking loved this movie! I managed to dodge spoilers for this and was so happy I did and if you don't care about them then keep right on reading. I loved the previous Deadpool (click here and here for those) movies and was into the comic crazy style back in the day. Funny enough, I was not a huge fan of the X-Men movies in almost all of the forms they came in. I was never super attached to Wolverine in the movies and seem to be the only person that didn't like Logan. When he died I was like “Can we get someone else to play him now?” But for some reason I was invested in him in this movie. Maybe because it was an alternate reality version of him and didn't have all that baggage from the other films. I will say I wish that Domino and Cable showed up. But still. Its crazy I have given all three of these movies a 10/10.

This starts off in 2018 with Wade happy after using the time machine from the last movie to save Vanessa's life and surrounded by all his friends. He heads to another reality and wants to join the Avengers. He fails an interview with Happy Hogan and heads back home. Vanessa and him have split and he is spinning his wheels working selling cars with Peter. Everyone loves Peter. I don't know why but when he is close to people it seems so pure for someone that is so violent. Oh, I forgot to mention the crazy ass credits with him digging up Logan's grave and beating people to death with him bones and taping the adamantium claws to his wrists. Yeah, that happened. The TVA (if you didn't watch Loki this will just be confusing) shows up and captures Wade. They let him know that his timeline is dying because its anchor being, Logan, is dying. So instead of waiting thousands of years for it to die he wants to use a device called a Time Ripper to just prune it immediately. He tells Wade he will send him to the sacred timeline and he'll do something important in the future. Wade steals a TemPad and bounces to find a Wolverine that will help.

Wade goes to different realities searching for the right Wolverine. He finds one played by Henry Cavill. He finds a comic book height accurate one which made me realize that is not as cool looking as I have always thought. There's more but see the movie. He finds an Age of Apocalypse one that I thought was incredible in the comics and on film! He finally finds a normal-ish one and no one likes him. His claws barely work. He mean. But Wade brings him back to the TVA and discovers that he is actually the worse Wolverine. They reveal why later and its pretty honked up. Wade realizes that this guy Paradox is just using this device without any permission and escapes with Wolverine. They land is this dusty ass planet and after fighting get captured along with who I thought was Captain America. Nope. Its the Human Torch from those bad Fantastic Four movies! Same actor, you know? He lets them know that the place is run by Cassandra Nova. When they arrive Wade says that Human Torch said a lot of bad shit about her so she rips the skin from his body. For those that do not know, she is Charles Xavier's twin sister he killed in the womb because he sensed how evil she was gonna be. Not quite sure what her mission is. She just evil and powerful as hell.

Wade and Wolverine escape and meet up with some fighters. They meet motherfucking Blade! They meet fucking Gambit! They meet Elektra! You don't even know how happy seeing Blade made me (considering that the new movie will likely never come out). Seeing Gambit was so cool because I have wanted to see that movie for about ten years now. They all battle Cassandra's team that even has Pyro from the old X-Men films who turns on Cassandra. She lets Wade and Wolverine know that Paradox has already completed the machine and send them to that reality to deal with him. Oh, I forgot Logan's daughter X-23 is there too. I didn't like that film so whatever. Wade finds a bunch of Deadpool's from another reality that has a Nicepool, Dogpool, a baby one, a floating zombie head, a hot lady, a cowboy. Just...everything.

I don't wanna keep revealing more stuff about this movie. I sat in the theater with my lady and was just happy watching this. I know folks are not a fan of this movie because now Deadpool is part of the MCU and shitting on it. Guess what? It needs to be shit on. These series and movies have not been hitting for years at this point and its time to start stating the obvious and recognizing that it needs a fresh start and a shot in the arm. I have loved every one of these films and even made a cool Perler bead poster for it.
