Theater Whore: The Infiltrator

The Infiltrator 8/10

The other day Cam and I headed to the Sundance Theater and saw The Infiltrator. I of course told her not to tell me what it was about but as soon as I saw the poster I vaguely remembered the trailer for it. This is way better than the trailer by the way. The trailer makes it look like this fast paced action movie when it is anything but. I would say suspense because my ass was clawing at my seat throughout the whole thing just waiting for someone to find something out or for someone to be betrayed while being betrayed. It was too much for my poor heart! This is one of those movies like Warrior where I get mad that more people aren't talking about it or plan on seeing it.

The Review: Batman The Killing Joke

Batman The Killing Joke 4/10

I planned on seeing this at The Arclight because they had a one night showing but saw a short clip of the movie that made me go “You know what? I'll watch it online.” It is the scene that a lot of folks are talking about with Batgirl ripping her costume off to fuck Batman on a rooftop. If you've ever read The Killing Joke then you know that this never happens. I don't mind when a movie or animated film makes changes. Sometimes its for the better. But a huge chunk of the movie is dedicated to this story of Batgirl being bad at her job, banging Batman, losing her cool, quitting, and then getting shot and photographed naked by the Joker in an attempt to drive Commissioner Gordon insane.

This part finally leads to the actual story that when animated made me realize that it is too short to be a feature length animated movie and this shouldn't have been made. They have a possible Joker origin like the comic and everything. But that damned stuff at the beginning just wasn't even a good story. The only part of this I truly enjoyed was when Batman was going nuts looking for Joker and he busts into this spot whipping all the ass and this one guy is like “I don't need to lie to you. Calm your shit.” The animation is good. The voices are perfect. The music is cool. But this was just not necessary. I was so excited to see this and after watching it was left feeling very meh.

The Review: Mr. Robot Season 1

Mr. Robot Season One 9/10

I first heard about this show after it won an award a show I watched got it. I don't even remember which show or what award. I just remember being shocked that Christian Slater was in a show that people were watching and won awards in this day. While ironing, which is where I discover most new shows that I watch, I stumbled across Mr. Robot on Amazon. I was like “Fine, I'll watch it!” but mostly because Brain Dead has not updated any new episodes after being on hiatus for a few weeks now. Seriously. Shows, especially new ones, need to cut that shit out. I knew by the end of the first episode of this that they had me hooked.

The Review: Brain Dead Episode One

Brain Dead Episode One 9/10

I knew nothing about this CBS series Brain Dead other than it had a very vague looking poster. I had no desire to check it out and I have to admit that some of it is because its on network television. And the fact that I assumed it was a political show and I hate hearing the word let alone spending my free time watching anything about it. But the other day while ironing I needed something to watch so while browsing Amazon I saw this pop up and decided to watch and I'm glad that I did. I have watched two of the three episodes and if they keep this story up as well as the acting I'll be sticking around.

Theater Whore: Independence Day Resurgence

Independence Day: Resurgence 3/10

After being asked to play the female president in Independence Day: Resurgence actress Susan Sarandon said “When I read the script, I couldn't understand what was going on. I just couldn't understand it. Seriously. A lot of the people from the original one were not going to be doing it, and I read it and I just thought, 'No. I can't. I just can't'.” She made a good choice. This movie wasn't hot garbage but I would never tell someone to watch it no matter how much they liked the first one. This takes place twenty years after the first and in case you're wondering, Vivica Fox is not still a stripper. She a nurse now. Yay her...I guess.
