The Review: Holiday Inn

Holiday Inn 3/10

It is going to be a little bit difficult to do this review based on what happens in this film. L. mentioned something that occurs in this film that in a lot of other versions is edited out but we watched this on Amazon I believe and they kept it in. So let me just start describing what this movie is actually about before I go on a tirade. There are these three performers Jim, Ted, and Lila. They do a whole song and dance routine up in New York. Jim is performing for the last time because he's going to marry Lila. His whole plan is to go live on a farm and rest and relax because he's tired of being on stage all of the time. Well he finds out that not only is Lila not coming with him but that his partner Ted is cheating with Lila and they're both going to just continue to show in New York.

The Review: The Shop Around The Corner

The Shop Around The Corner 8/10

Now this was a cute ass movie. The Shop Around The Corner is about this guy named Alfred who's a salesman at a shop. There's a lot of different coworkers and I like all of them and everybody's cool except this one dude who is a cheating ass cheat. One day this lady comes in pretending to look for help and it turns out she's actually looking for a job. Her name is Klara. It turns out that she's good at selling things to people so she ends up getting hired and the entire time her and Alfred are at each other's throats. Alfred has been writing to someone as pen pals and it's turned into a full blown relationship. They've never met each other but he is in love with this woman. Meanwhile at the shop the boss has been acting meaner and meaner to Alfred and it turns out it's because he thinks that Alfred has been sleeping with his wife. We find out who was sleeping with his wife but not before his boss tries to blow his own brains out because of his wife stepping out. Thankfully the delivery boy manages to stop him before he killed himself. One night when he supposed to go finally meet her (after being fired from his job) his coworker looks into the restaurant and it turns out that it's Klara. Alfred heads inside and starts talking to her and of course she treats him the same as she usually does and they go their separate ways and it appears that she's been stood up.

The Review: Almost Christmas

Almost Christmas 6/10

We watch this movie called Almost Christmas. I had never heard of this movie. It has a large cast of black actors and actresses from multiple films over the years. This is about this man named Walter Myers whose wife recently passed away and he has all of his kids over for the holidays. You can already tell how this is going to go. They either cannot get along or don't seem much like siblings at all really. You have one daughter who has a child of her own is a single and full-on I don't need a man mode you have another one who's a dentist and has a husband who's a man whore. You have a son who is running in the hopes of being in Congress. And you also have a son that's in college and just about to get off of injury reserve who has a pill addiction. There's some funny parts of this movie but for the most part it's very cookie cutter. The father wants to sell the house and the kids don't want him to sell it. They want to save a shelter and the son is conflicted because he knows it will help him and his political career. And throughout the movie the father's trying to recreate a pie recipe that his wife used to make. I could not really suggest watching this movie though it's something that if it was on in the background whenever you heard fighting or shouting you would know to look at the screen to see something interesting happening.

Danny Glover as Walter Meyers

    Sebrena Farmer as Grace Meyers

Kimberly Elise as Dr. Cheryl Meyers, DDS

    Romany Malco as Christian Meyers

    Gabrielle Union as Rachel Meyers

Jessie T. Usher as Evan Meyers

Mo'Nique as Aunt May Deveraux Johnson-Davis

    J.B. Smoove as Lonnie Maclay

Nicole Ari Parker as Sonya Meyers

    Omar Epps as Malachi

John Michael Higgins as Andy Brooks

The Review: Candy Cane Lane

Candy Cane Lane 6/10

Another holiday movie that we watched was Candy Cane Lane. This was an okay movie but it just felt a little bit too long and as if there were way too many stories going on at the same time. It's about this guy named Chris Carver who likes to make his own decorations for the holidays. His neighborhood goes crazy when it's time for Christmas and the entire street is decked out. He ends up going into work and laid off right before the holidays like a lot of these movies do because everybody has a horrible boss. He also finds out that this year that there will be a prize of $100,000 for whoever wins the best decorations on the street. He also has three kids with his wife. His youngest daughter is named Holly and she's the light skin child of this movie. I bet you I thought I was joking, but every one of these movies no matter what the couple looks like there's going to be a little curly hair light skinned child as the daughter. He also has two other kids with holiday themed names. His son Nick plays a tuba and wants to make music but they want him to do something else. And their daughter Joy is a track runner and they want her to go to USC but she does not want to.

The Review: Holiday Affair

Holiday Affair 8/10

Been watching so many holiday movies during this time I have made a new tag for them. Click on Holiday Reviews to see movies I have done over the years around Christmas to check them out. The next movie that we watch was one from 1949 called Holiday Affair. This lady named Connie heads into this department store that is overrun with children. This guy named Steve is working there and she rushes up to him and wants to buy a train set and doesn't ask anything about it. It turns out that she is something that was called a comparative shopper which I don't think exist anymore and if it does it probably has a different title. She gets a train and heads home while her son Timmy is there. Timmy is one of the messiest characters you will find in cinema. He ends up sneaking into the room and seeing the train set and getting super excited thinking it's for him. It's not. She buys the stuff and then has to return it. She's just getting prices for items and comparing them to her bosses shops. She heads back to the store to get a refund and the guy working there Steve is like I know who you are and what you're doing but he decides to not report her which would make her lose her job. In turn Steve loses his job.

The Review: Christmas Of Yes

Christmas Of Yes 6/10

I have a lot of Christmas movie reviews to do so I'm going to be trying to knock out the easier ones first. The first movie that L and I watched was called Christmas Of Yes. This is about a woman named Amy who does nothing but work. She's not interesting. That seems to be a premise of a lot of holiday movies that involve women who are very busy. They have no life and all there is is work and they don't have time for relationships or friends or anything. They just work. They have no personality. So she goes into work where she is high up and very well respected and loved by everybody because not only does she work hard, but she also makes incredibly good coffee. So at work they tell her after a merger that she is no longer needed. She ends up getting fired right before the holidays. To cheer her up her brother and his boyfriend decide to make a bet with her that until Christmas she cannot refuse anything and must say yes to whatever they ask or anyone else ask her to do. This sounds incredibly dangerous but I'll go with it.

The Review: Leave The World Behind

Leave The World Behind -3/10

The amount of hatred I have for this movie is incredible. I am a semi-rational person and I understand that art is supposed to be subjective. But the movie Leave the World Behind is legitimately one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. L. suggested that we watch this and I was not super opposed to it because I didn't know anything about it but was aware that two big actors were in it. I was very surprised and I discovered there was a big actress in it as well. So we started this movie and right now I am trying my best not to jump to the ending that pushed me over the edge and just stick with the fact that this movie had no redeeming qualities. I have watched some really terrible movies where I can say at least it was shot well or at least it had good music. This is not one of those movies.

Curtain Call: Freight The Five Incarnations of Abel Green

Freight The Five Incarnations of Abel Green 10/10

This past weekend L. took me to see one of the best live performances I have ever seen. It is called Freight: The Five Incarnations of Abel Green. It stars J. Alphonse Nicholson who I know from seeing in the background of a few TV series and also on the show P Valley. This is a solo show and I don't think I've ever actually seen a solo show live before. He plays a man named Abel Green and it goes through five different monologues and each one is a different version of Abel throughout time. The first one takes place in the early 1900s where he is part of a minstrel show. The second one he's a faith healer who gets really popular and very wealthy only to discover the truth about his healing abilities and his faith. The third one he's an FBI informant that's pretty much snitching on the Black Panthers in the 1960s. The fourth he's an actor who has all of the guilt for turning his back on a friend after discovering he is HIV positive. The final one he's a homeless man around 2010 and he tells a story of how he became that way.

Documentality: Love Has Won The Cult Of Mother God

Love Has Won 8/10

Last week L. and I watched this crazy ass documentary called Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God. This is about this lady named Amy Carlson who started a cult called Love Has Won. What is the point of this cult? What was their main goal? What is their mission statement? I have no idea. I have looked online I have watched other videos about this group of people and I have absolutely no idea what the point of it was. From these three episodes it seems like she had a pretty normal life. She also has an abusive husband and different relationships and then one day she quit her job at McDonald's and left her kids behind. Next thing you know she's with this old man and they're doing a bunch of seemingly hippie stuff together. She ends up leaving him and some other men that she ends up calling Father God until she settles on this one guy who is so crazy seeming it is scary.

Curtain Call: Inherit The Wind

Inherit The Wind 10/10

Last night Cam took me to go see an incredible performance of Inherit the Wind. I had not heard of this story and did not know anything about it going in but I am so glad I went because this was one of the best plays I have ever seen. It also shows that you do not need a lot of flash to make a show good and entertaining. The people on stage had on regular street clothes the set consisted of about three or four tables and some chairs. Audience members who won a lottery were allowed to sit in the jury box and they were also people from the audience sitting on stage. I had never been to the Pasadena Playhouse before and it was a pretty good size. Parking was a breeze and right near the theater which was nice. I am too used to praying for parking downtown or taking out a mortgage to pay for parking at the Pantages.

The Review: Violent Night

Violent Night 8/10

The other film that we watched was a complete opposite of the last one. This one was called Violent Night. It came out last year and I had heard of it but thought it was a horror film. This is about Santa Claus being over kids wishing for just video games and not believing him in him anymore. Meanwhile there's this little girl named Gertrude who everyone calls Trudy who just like the last film wants her family to get back together again. The family goes to Greenwich Connecticut and meets up with her dad's family who is stinking rich. Well, Santa is at the house delivering gifts a whole ass group of mercenaries show up to steal 300 million bucks that granny is hiding. Santa impales one of these guys on the icicle after a very violent fight. In this movie Santa gets shot at, he gets cut, all kind of crazy violent things are happening and he's able to communicate with the little girl through a walkie-talkie that her father had given her. She very much still believes in Santa Claus and these mercenaries led by one calling himself Scrooge is very upset that he is being taken out by someone dressed as Santa. He also had a traumatic experience as a child dealing with Christmas time.

The Review: Dashing Through The Snow

Dashing Through The Snow 9/10

A couple of weeks ago continuing the Christmas movie tradition L. and I watched Dashing Through The Snow on Disney+. This movie turned out to be way better than I was expecting. It's about this social worker who works with the police name Eddie and when he was little he wanted Santa at the mall to get him a fishing pole for his father and hopefully that would bring his mother and father together again and they would stop fighting. It turns out that the mall Santa after getting this kid's address broke into the house and from then on he hates Christmas. He now has a child and he and the mother are not together anymore. One night he is tasked with watching his daughter and this guy dressed as Santa Claus and believes that he is Santa Claus bump into one another. He ends up seeing this Santa Claus because he is house sitting for his neighbors and this guy is just up in there doing Santa shit. Santa is being hunted by three people because he has an iPad that has a list of people that are going to be blackmailed for more money by the evil mayor.

The Review: One Fine Christmas/A Christmas Fumble

One Fine Christmas 1/10

L. and I decided to watch some holiday movies and these two were terrible. The first was One Fine Christmas. It was about this girl who comes home from college and her mother is super busy with work and just runs around like a crazy person. Seriously, it's like I don't know why but she's constantly tweaking. The daughter has zero personality in this movie. Normally these kind of films where they have a young person they have them be precocious or there's something quirky about them or interesting but in this film the daughter is literally just a daughter. The grandmother no longer lives with her mom because they just don't get along anymore since the tweaky mother's husband left her.

The Review: Gayni**ers From Outer Space

Gayni**ers From Outer Space WTF/10

Miss Jackie sent me a video on Instagram that asked “What space movie came out in 1992?” I Googled this and the answer was Gayni**ers From Outer Space. I found it on Youtube and will be typing my thoughts as I watch Tiger King style. Let me see what this movie could possibly be about.

Gayjack Movies in the credits? Now they just playing in my face.

Why does this voice over sound like Unicron from Transformers?

The Review: Blue Beetle

Blue Beetle 2/10

This movie was not made for me in any sense. I couldn't relate to a single character or any part of the story. It just happened. This kid comes home from college and his family is being pushed out the neighborhood, losing their home, and are very Spanish. They are Spanish like in 80's film where you watch it now and it just makes you uncomfortable. A scarab attaches itself to him (not sure why) and madness ensues. I couldn't take anything seriously because there was a bad joke just peeping over the shoulder. I even chuckled when the spirit of the grandfather got dusted Thanos style. The villains were like 90's style and cartoonish as hell. Yeah, I know this is a superhero film and that is allowed, but it just felt so lazy to write them like that. It felt like whoever created this was in way over their heads. The more of these movies I am watching the more I realize that I am aging out of them. They are also becoming so specific for who they are for that I feel like I'm trespassing.

The Review: Spider Man Across The Spiderverse

Spider Man Across The Spiderverse 3/10

I thoroughly enjoyed the first movie. This one...not so much. It looked good. The music was nice. The voice acting was on point. But the story felt so all over the place and this felt way longer than it actually was. I had to spread this out over the night and through the day to finish. This would have worked better as a series, not a two and a half hour long movie that had no ending. Yeah. I didn't know this was setting up for a sequel that may take a while to come out. I should talk about the story. Miles is having trouble balancing being a hero and his normal life. He discovers he should never have become Spider-Man and we get into a bunch of Multiverse issues. People talk about “superhero fatigue.” I am having multiverse fatigue. There was so much going on in this that I didn't stick with any character long enough to really care. It was just a lot of flashy things happening on screen.

Shameik Moore as Miles Morales/Spider-Man

Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen

The Review: The Horrors Of Dolores Roach

The Horrors Of Dolores Roach 9/10

So over a month ago Cam told me about this show on Amazon (they tend to hide their best shows by the way) called The Horrors Of Dolores Roach. I watched the first episode with her and was very much intrigued. But then as the weeks went by and I was watching all my other shows and movies and such I kept saying to myself that I need to finish the show and watch it and kept putting it off and then finally within one day I watched the last seven episodes. Each episode is half an hour or less so it really flies by.

This is about this lady named Dolores who gets out of prison after doing sixteen years after taking the fall for her drug dealing boyfriend Dominic. So when she returns home to Washington Heights the entire neighborhood looks completely different. The only place that looks the same is this empanada shop and it's run by this guy who when she went into prison was a young boy named Luis. He ends up letting her stay with him because she has no place to go. She has no friends around, no one in the neighborhood can help her, and nobody wants to hire her because she just did sixteen years in prison for selling drugs and assaulting a police officer. She ends up giving him a massage one day and he tells her how great she is. She we find out that she learned how to give massages from a lady in prison who did not have hands. It's very odd.

The Review: Gen V

Gen V 9/10

This is going to be full of spoilers. I checked out that show Gen V on Amazon which is a spin-off of The Boys. This show is just as crazy intense and at times gross as The Boys. If you are a fan of that series in the previous three seasons it has you should like this show. What I like is that these kids do not think these are god given abilities and know that at some point their parents, for whatever reason, had their children pumped full of chemicals for cash.

The Review: Fast X

Fast X 3/10

So I finally got to watch the last Fast and Furious film called Fast X. I should not have. I know that these films have gotten crazier over the years where they started off stealing DVD players and they reached the point where they're flying off into space. But this movie there was so much stuff that happened that I just could not believe. I'm not talking about actors and actresses coming back from the dead. I'm not talking about Dominic being able to lift a car with one arm. I'm not talking about cars dropping from helicopters and landing on the road and being able to drive perfectly fine. My main complaint which is funny because he was the best part of the movie was the villain Dante. He did not fit in this movie at all. His character should be in something else like Smokin' Aces but in this film his humor and the way he behaved made everyone else that was acting tough and hard seem like cartoon characters. The basic premise of this movie is about family. It's always about family. This evil villain Dante was the son of that dude in Brazil that was killed a few movies back. It turns out that Dante was always insane and this just pushed him over the edge and now he's trying to take out Dominic's family. I don't really have all that much more to say about this because it really was just a lot of action for the sake of action and the movie felt very long because it was over two hours. The twist and turns and everything annoyed me and then the ending really bothered me because they are setting up for another film and I honestly thought that this was the last one. I know it sounds stupid but after ten films I think I'm done.

    Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto

    Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz

    Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce

Chris "Ludacris" Bridges as Tej Parker

The Review: How To Use Guys With Secret Tips

How To Use Guys With Secret Tips 7/10

I watched this crazy ass movie with H. and B. called How To Use Guys With Secret Tips. This is a Korean movie about this assistant director that gets stepped on in every aspect of her life. At work, catching cabs, whatever. One day while at a commercial shoot the entire damn crew leave her after she falls asleep on the beach. She wakes up and there is a crazy ass booth with this guy that wants to sell her a series of videos on how to use her womanly wiles to control men and make herself better.

The Review: Cabin In The Sky

Cabin In The Sky 8/10

I completely forgot to write a review for Cabin In The Sky after L. and I watched. She reminded me and I was like “Yeah, I did!” but checked and sure enough. Nope. This movie is about this guy named Little Joe so you know he is trouble. His wife Petunia wants him to be a better man because he likes loose women and gambling with dangerous men. He ends up shot because he owes money to people that don't play and dies. Some angels come to visit him and say that he has like six months to get his shit together or he will be sent to hell. He starts to clean up his life but on the other end of this is Lucifer Jr. who keeps throwing things at him to try and tempt him.

The Review: Creed 3

Creed Three 8/10

This was a cool ass movie but I thought it felt kind of rushed. This could have been two movies and I would've liked it more. This starts with Adonis as a kid and his friend Damian at an underground boxing match. Damian is good. They end up at a liquor store and Adonis starts whipping this dudes ass. Damian ends up getting arrested as Adonis runs off. Fast forward to present day and Adonis is retired and watching his lady pursue her singing career and caring for their daughter who has a hearing impairment. He also has a boxing school and one of his fighters is going against Drago's kid. At home his daughter gets in trouble for boxing up a child that messed with her.

The Review: Vacation Friends 2

    Vacation Friends Two 6/10

I was reminded by L. a while back that this movie had come out. We really enjoyed the first one and while this one was funny it was a little too insane compared to the last film. Marcus and Emily are planning on having a kid and meet up with Ron and Kyla who have a son that they always leave with Maurillo who is babysitting. They go to the islands but Marcus is also using the trip to work on getting a contract so that his construction company can build a new hotel. This guy, Yeon, who is representing the company just does not like Marcus. Suddenly Kyla's dad shows up from prison and is shady as hell. He doesn't like Ron which makes no sense to him because everyone loves Ron. Ron goes out of his way to make her father like him. There are shootouts, explosions, deep sea diving, surfing, and flipping cars. Its a lot. Still, this was funnier than I expected it to be for a sequel.

Lil Rel Howery as Marcus

    Yvonne Orji as Emily

    John Cena as Ron

    Meredith Hagner as Kyla

    Steve Buscemi as Reese Hackford

    Carlos Santos as Maurillio

    Ronny Chieng as Yeon

    Jamie Hector as Warren

The Review: Cat People (1942)

Cat People 5/10

This movie was strange as hell. Like, 1942 strange. This is about this lady standing in a zoo drawing a panther and littering. Literally. She doesn't like what she draws and tosses the paper on the ground and starts again. This guy named Oliver sees her and starts talking to her because she cute because if she was an ugmo he would've been like “Stop littering, ya bum!” They start chatting and he ends up in her apartment that looks like someone just cleaned a haunted house. She says she is from Serbia and tells her a story about this king showing up and chasing all the witches and shit out of the village. Oliver is like “Yeah...okay” but she is dead ass serious. There is no real time frame given for this so their relationship moves in fast forward because the next thing you know he buys her a cat. Like, give me a plant. I don't want a whole new being to take care of without asking for it. It doesn't last because the cat wont go near her ass. They go to return it to the pet shop and all the animals start freaking out. There is a monkey there because...1942. They end up with a bird. That is very different than a cat.

The Review: House On Haunted Hill (1959)

    House On Haunted Hill 7/10

Me and L. wanted to watch some spooky films for the holidays so we decided to watch this, the 1959 classic House On Haunted Hill. This movie was weird as hell but I liked it. This rich dude decides to have five people come to this party he is throwing for his wife, Annabelle. His fourth wife. The others dead. She don't wanna go because he didn't invite any friends. The husband, Frederick Loren, is a weird ass guy. He says he will give 10,000 smackeroos to anyone that can stay the whole night in this place after the doors lock at midnight. Seems pretty easy, right? The five people are a test pilot named Lance, a newspaper woman named Ruth, a psychiatrist named Trent, this poor girl who gets all the scares named Nora, and the guy that owns the house named Watson. He drinks a lot and talks about previous murders in the place. None of these people know each other but they all want that money for different reasons.

The Review: Elemental

Elemental 9/10

This was a cute ass movie. L. wanted to check this out but I have struggled for over a decade to really get into any of this Pixar movies or any animated one really. Thankfully this one proved to be very entertaining with a story that was easy to follow and had parts that made me laugh. This is about a fire girl named Ember Lumen. She works at her family's store selling hot things to hot folks. The community is made of fire people and the area is rather run down and full of people who have immigrated from their place. This city is not made for fire people and the threat of being extinguished is everywhere. Ember has a problem controlling her anger and explodes. One day is causes a leak in pipes and as she is trying to fix them a city worker made of water named Wade pops through and starts noticing all of the code violations in the place. She chases him down but he ends up turning in the paperwork.

The Review: The Changeling

The Changeling 2/10

The more I talk and think about this series the more annoyed I get so I have to hurry up and do this before my brain drifts over into “I just don't care to write about this” mode. Let me explain why I didn't give this a 0/10 or a 1/10. I finished it and it started off well. The first three episodes of this had me intrigued as fuck. Then I was confused but still interested. Then they just started having episode after episode of more questions for an eight episode series and the fucking nerve to have the finale be less than half an hour following a 70 minute episode that explained one question.

The Review: The Wheel of Time Season 2

The Wheel Of Time Season Two 9/10

I have not read the books nor do I plan to. I need to get that out of the way because I have learned from being exposed to this crazy ass world or these stories that people get real angry with the differences between the book and the series. I'm just a random Black dude that watches an assload of TV and weird shit.

The Review: Barry Season 4

Barry Season Four 10/10

Full of spoilers! Not sure why I never did a review for the third season, but I assure you that I watched it. I'm gonna try to recall everything that happened since I finished this months ago. Barry is in prison and I thought that there was no possible way that this show could go this many seasons let alone make the final one the best. Barry tries to contact his old acting teacher, Gene, whose fiancé he murdered for forgiveness as well as his ex, Sally who will be going through all manner of chaos herself. Gene wants to get some of his old fame back by cashing in on the murder of Janice and knowing that Barry was one of his acting students. Sally is trying to come to grips with the fact that she was sleeping with a murderer. Barry is losing his shit. His former friend Fuches is sent into the same prison as Barry and thinks he will be killed only for Barry to beg for forgiveness.

Documentality: Last Call

Last Call: When a Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York 9/10

Have you seen American Horror Story: NYC? Well, you could watch this instead because it is damn near the same thing but for true. This is about a serial killer in the 90's that goes after gay men and does all manner of fucked up things to their bodies. Police are not super concerned because the victims are gay. Two of the victims were closeted and they actually speak to their family as well as the family and friends of other victims. All L. and I could think of were the amount of similarities between this and AHS: NYC. The city, the way the serial killer did the victims, and of course the gay aspect of it all. One of the victims, Anthony Marrero, confused police because at that point the victims were older, gay men. They speak to Marrero's family and it is sad how his brother could not accept that his brother was gay and living a very double life filled with hustling. This is just four parts but very thorough and will make you mad. Thankfully there is a resolution and no silly build for a second season or anything. I would suggest you check this out on Max.

I watched this documentary called The Stroll and kept having flashbacks of my life as a male prostitute...in my mind. Actually it reminded me of Hooker At The Point which I watched when I was younger and so should not have been allowed to. This is about Black and Latina trans workers during the 80's and 90's and the massive amount of shit they had to go through. Fighting cops who were arresting them and sleeping with them. Being attacked for just being alive. This isn't all depressing though because while some did not survive the ones that did are alive and well and still fighting for trans rights. The area that they worked was known as The Stroll and when they go to it in present day it is very gentrified. It doesn't even look like the same place anymore. I would suggest people who are into watching activists being active (which I am not and am not) and wanting to learn more about a world that you're not familiar with. If you are one of those people that are scared of things that are different you should definitely watch this.

Documentality: The Way Down

The Way Down 8/10

I watched this months ago and have been slacking on reviews so I'll be attempting to post a few a day. I have been watching so much stuff that I have just been writing what I watched but not writing reviews. This one, The Way Down, was insane in so many ways. I had seen this lady, Gwen Shamblin Lara's face, but did not know why. I had no idea that she was running a church based weight loss program and the amount of drama and nonsense that wanting to lose weight and be closer to god could cause. This had everything from divorces, fat shaming, marrying an actor who left his family, plane crashes, Trump shit, self harm, and terrible music. When I watch stuff like this I think it happened years ago like in the 90's when people were easier to fleece. Nope. This was happening as recently as a couple of years ago and is likely still going on now. I watched this on HBO Max which is now just Max. Just a few episodes and doesn't drag out the material.

The Review: They Cloned Tyrone

They Cloned Tyrone 10/10

I love weird ass movies. I really love weird ass Black movies in particular. I had seen a billboard for this movie on Sunset a couple of weeks ago and decided to check it out after seeing people say how good it was. This was a creative movie that is something I am gonna have to watch a few more times because I was watching it in so much amazement at how people can write and direct things in certain ways. Visually this was good. The wardrobe, the scenery, the hairstyles. You couldn't tell what decade this was taking place in. I should start describing the movie.

The Review: I'm A Virgo

I'm A Virgo 10/10

I absolutely loved this damn series. Cam randomly suggested it and we plowed through the first four episodes before I finished the rest the next day. If you one of those people that needs explanations for everything you see then this show will make your head hurt. A lady leaves the hospital with a baby that is about my size now, names him Cootie, and she and her husband are raising him at home. Turns out she is his aunt and they hide him from the world. As he gets older he begins to crave the outside world. His aunt and uncle show him what happens to giants when they are discovered which gives him nightmares. Of course he gets discovered by some kids in his neighborhood and they introduce him to the world of fast food, fame, and women. Meanwhile there is a superhero that is bigoted as hell literally flying around. Its a lot.

The Review: Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Shazam! Fury of the Gods 0/10

This was a trash film and a complete waste of time. Everything that I enjoyed about the first film was removed. Characters were stupid. The plot was bad. Just...ugh. There was nothing about this movie that I enjoyed. Not gonna waste my time even writing credits for this one.

The Review: Schmigadoon Season 2

Schmigadoon Season 2 (9/10)

Trying to do some late reviews so this will be short. This was a damn good show. L. and I absolutely enjoyed the first season and I was kinda worried about how the next would follow it up. Turns out I was concerned for nothing because this one was funny as hell. The first season had style and music based on musicals from the 1940's and 1950's while this one had the 60's and 70's. Josh and Melissa are trying to have a child and just going through life unhappy after their time in Schmigadoon and decide that they should try to go back. They eventually make their way back but it is now very different from when they were last around and it is seedy as hell and known as Schmicago. The same cast of people are around but playing different roles and the introduction of the Narrator made this season even better.

Keegan-Michael Key as Josh Skinner

Cecily Strong as Melissa Gimble
