The Review: War Machine

War Machine 3/10

Damn I wish this movie could have made up its mind. War Machine debuted on Netflix tonight and I was really looking forward to seeing it. It has a great cast with people like Brad Pitt, Anthony Michael Hall, Topher Grace, Tilda Swinton, Ben Kingsley, Keith Stanfield, and Emory Cohen. So many good people but it seemed like this movie couldn't decide if it was a satire or not. It bounced back and forth so many times that when something seemingly funny happened it was jarring compared to what was being said. The best part of this was the first fifteen minutes and the last half hour because it picked a tone and stuck with it. I would love to see two different versions of this. One comedic and the other as a serious war movie because the actual battle, the last half hour, was done really well. This movie just points out the silliness of the wars this country has had in the Middle East. And someone please tell Pitt to stop using that voice from Inglorious Basterds. This was long and disappointing.

The Review: American Gods Episode 4 "Git Gone"

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

You Had One Job: Tom Hardy As Venom

Yesterday I heard that there was a Venom movie being made. My reaction was “Why?” Its not that I don't like Venom. He was cool when I was in junior high but its been years since I gave a damn about the character in any way. For those that don't know who he is I'll give a silly quick overview. Venom is an alien known as a Symbiote that attached to Spider-Man and once Spider-Man realized what it was he got rid of it and Eddie Brock, who worked with Peter Parker and hated him, bonded with it and became Venom. I wondered how this was going to tie into the new Spider-Man movies done by Marvel but worried because they were jumping the gun. I'll get into that later.

Then I heard that Tom Hardy, who is bae number three, was going to play him and I literally shook my head. He was supposed to be in that Suicide Squad movie but left thankfully and I was wondering when he would hop into one of these Marvel movies. I just didn't think it would be as Venom and I sure as hell didn't think it would be in Sony's grubby ass hands. See, the problem is that Sony finally released Spider-Man over to Marvel Studios which is why he was in that last Captain America Civil War movie played by Tom Holland. In the small amount of time he was on screen he was the best Spider-Man in film (click here where I rank them). These films will not be connected so...its just a Venom film? I'll pass.

The Review: Man Vs. Snake

Man Vs. Snake 8/10

Whoever would have thought that a documentary about a 80's video game that I never heard of could be so damned good? Man Vs. Snake is about the quest to get the world record in this game called Nibbler. I grew up playing a lot of video game sin arcades as a child and never heard of this one. The modern equivalent of it is called Snake. In 1984 in the small town of Ottumwa, Iowa a 16 year old kid named Tim McVey (not the terrorist as they point out) spent two days playing the game and set a world record for it. He got a key to the city and everything. It was a big deal. The way the game is set up if you have enough lives you can take a break and just let the character die for a few minutes.

Theater Whore: King Arthur Legend Of The Sword

King Arthur Legend Of The Sword 0/10

What the fuck was this? The new movie King Arthur Legend Of The Sword should not have been made. Love Guy Ritchie for the most part and the movies he directs (I checked all of them to make sure this was true) but there is no way to defend this bullshit movie. It stars Charlie Hunnam as Arthur. He was raised by hookers after being removed from the palace as a boy. He comes back, gets the sword, then a lot of stylish looking shit that amounts to nothing happens. I'm serious. If I had waled out for an hour and came back it wouldn't have made a difference in understanding what was happening or what anyone was doing. This is over two hours of murky nonsense.

Chris Cornell Is Dead And It Sucks

My top favorite three groups of all time in order are AC/DC, Soundgarden, and Earth Wind & Fire. Of those three I have only seen EW&F live. I can't see AC/DC because the lead singer has been replaced by Axel Rose and fuck that. And I will never get to see Soundgarden because their lead singer, Chris Cornell, killed himself today. And it sucks. I have all of their CD's and albums even when there was Temple Of The Dog and when he started Audioslave with members of Rage Against The Machine. Cornell, and you will see everyone mention it, had one of the best voices in music. That shit was mad powerful and there has not been anyone that sounded like him or could get away with it without being called a copycat.

The Review: The Place Beyond The Pines

The Place Beyond The Pines 10/10

There will be spoilers for this years old movie. I loved The Place Beyond The Pines. I don't know why I didn't check it out sooner. It stars Ryan Gosling who is bae. Eva Mendes who is co-bae. Seriously. This has just been sitting in my Netflix cue and I have been thinking of deleting it for no reason. Thank god I didn't because all I thought this was about was Gosling riding a motorcycle and doing crime with Mendes as his partner and Bradley Cooper hunting them down like some bootleg Bonnie & Clyde. I was super wrong. Gosling is Luke Glanton. He is a motorcycle stuntman that just breezes through towns. One day he is found by a girl he slept with, Romina Gutierrez played by Mendes. He drops her off at home and that is that. He ends up finding out that she had a baby and he is the father. He is upset that she was going to let him leave town not knowing that he had a son.

The Review: American Gods Episode 3 “Head Full Of Snow”

American Gods Episode 3 “Head Full Of Snow” 10/10

This damned show, I swear. American Gods has been great every single week and it makes me so nervous because I remember feeling this good about The Flash and it ended up stanking in the second season and I haven't even touched the third one. “Its good! It gets better!” you say. Well, so are a lot of other shows on TV right now. I don't have the time to watch okay ones or wait for them to pick up. This episode continues the tradition of introducing new gods in really cool ways. This lady is cooking in the kitchen as her cat watched. I was just waiting to see her tumble fro the stool she is on. Someone knocks and she thinks its her grand-kids but its not.

Its a Blacker!

The Review: American Gods Episode 2 "The Secret of Spoons"

American Gods “The Secret of Spoons”

Oh, American Gods is back again with an awesome ass episode. As crazy as episode one was I was hoping the second wouldn't falter and it did not. While not as visually insane it was more linear and still really good. I'm also not gonna give another rating for this series until it wraps up and I can weigh it all together. This picks up where the last episode left off after Shadow was cut down after being hung and someone or something turned all the attackers into juice. He heads to Mr. Wednesday's hotel, where he of course is with some young chick, and tells him that he was attacked. Mr. Wednesday kinda plays it off coolly but tells him that just because he is not upset that does not mean he is not angry. Meanwhile...

Theater Whore: Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2

Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2 – 10/10

There will be spoilers! This movie is awesome! Miss Jackie and I headed to the Arclight over in Hollywood after some damn good food at Plan Check and checked out Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2. I have not laughed or tried not to cackle so much while watching a movie outside my house in a long ass time. This movie takes place a few months after the first one and it feels like it. The team isn't this well oiled machine that can do no wrong. It starts off with a massive battle with the team versus a creature that is arriving to devour a battery. During this time Baby Groot is making everyone laugh in the theater and Gamora and Quill are arguing. Drax is acting like a lunatic diving into the monsters mouth. They were hired by a race called the Sovereign who will give them Nebula in return. This all happens in the beginning of the movie along with a flashback showing Peter Quill's/Star Lord's dad with his mom before she passed away.

The Review: The Girl With All The Gifts

The Girl With All The Gifts 8/10

There will be spoilers. I watched this movie called The Girl With All The Gifts after seeing it on a list of tings that I should have watched and my cousin Jasmine happened to mention it to me so I decided to check it out. This movie is really good. Just full of me shouting at the screen! Yes, this is a zombie movie but its not like the dozens of other ones that have come out in the last ten years. This movie had me wondering what the hell was happening from the very start all the way to the end of it which was cool because sometimes when something is zombie related you find out how it started and its stupid or you find out it will never end ever and you call it The Walking Dead. Seriously, how are you people still watching that shit? There is a fungal disease that is affecting the world and turning folks into zombies aka “hungries.” There is no cure. Just don't let 'em get their juices on you or bite you and you're fine...ish.

The Review: American Gods Episode 1 "The Bone Orchard"

American Gods “The Bone Orchard” 10/10

There will be spoilers. I have wanted to watch this series American Gods ever since I heard it was being made. I loved the book (never read the follow ups which I will do this summer) and when I saw the trailer for this I knew they had gone all out. It stars Ricky Whittle as a newly released prisoner named Shadow Moon. He was arrested for assault a while back but is being released a few days early. He is told that he is getting out but its a few days beforehand because his wife was killed. He has some flashbacks of another prisoner telling him stories and life tips that will later become useful.

My Song Of The Week: Transformers (ZERO) Soundtrack

Over the last month or so I have been randomly making songs for a movie that does not exist. With this Transformers (ZERO) I wanted to mix some hip hop, dubstep, trap, rock, and metal. It makes no sense but I like it. Click here for previous My Song Of The Week.
