The Review: Detroit Become Human

Detroit: Become Human 10/10

Well, this is a first. For those that don't know I watch people play video games on Youtube. People ask “Why would you watch other people play a video game?” which is a weird question to me considering I did it since I was a child. Just because video games were around when I was little didn't mean I always got to play them which meant I was just watching. These days I do not play video games anymore which is good because I was addicted to them years ago. What do I mean by that? I mean playing between 15-19 hours a day which is easy when I would work just about four hours a day and head home. I mostly watch H2ODelirious, Cartoonz, or Moo play games. I watch Game Grumps occasionally. Super Best Friends sparingly because they have shitty audio meaning they will blow my ears out shouting and I hate gamers that scream a lot. I like TheRadBrad but he plays way too cautiously and slow. For this game I watched Cartoonz play since he plays closest to how I'd play games if I still did.

The Review: Black Lightning

Black Lighting 3/10

What a fitting number considering I only watched three episodes. To be fair...to myself, I was ready to be done halfway through the first episode but decided for some reason to watch a few more. I was hoping that it would get better and that the first episode was just the series Black Lightning getting its footing. It didn't three episodes in so I tapped out. They have this on Netflix so I checked it out and I wasn't disappointed because I had zero expectations for this. I don't watch any of the DC shows on CW anymore. I gave up on Flash years ago after it had been amazing and wanted another good series to check out. This was not it.

The Review: Anon

Anon 4/10

I checked this movie out on Netflix called Anon starring Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried. This movie could have been so much better than it was but they seemed to want to save all the crazier shit until the end which would have benefited the middle of this even more. Sometime in the future there is zero privacy. This is some Black Mirror type shit and if this came out before that series it would have had more of an impact on me. Or even if it came out five years ago. There is a thing called Mind's Eye where you and everyone else is shown through your eyes as you walk down the street. Hell, even if you look at plants it is shown the type of them. It is pretty easy being a cop until someone is killed and the killer can't be seen.

The Review: Train To Busan

Train To Busan 8/10

I just finished watching this zombie movie from the director of Psychokenisis called Train To Busan. I had seen it advertised on Netflix but never wanted to watch it until I saw his other movie. The same way that was Korea's first superhero film this was their first zombie movie and holy shit they did a really good job. Something I want to point out before I forget is that they do not fight zombies with guns. I know, it sounds crazy. There is not a gun seen until the last few minutes of this and American films need to take note. I love shooting movies as much as the next guy (Deadpool and John Wick are amazing) but in other films it becomes too easy to just shoot a problem away. Even with a detective show like Luther it is not gun heavy. I like that.

Theater Whore: Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 – 10/10

You should only read this if you have already seen Deadpool 2 or have no desire to anytime soon and don't mind spoilers because I will be spoiling the shit out of this movie. There will be no things I didn't like because this was awesome as fuck and everyone involved needs to be proud of themselves for making a movie that forced me to contain my laughter. I loved the first movie and this one was better for me in every sense. From action, story, and humor. There were also a ton of surprises that I'll spoil the fuck out of so if you don't wanna know stop reading now.

The Review: Cobra Kai

Cobra Kai 10/10

This was an amazing series! Cobra Kai is a show I never would have checked out if K.N Parker had not mentioned how good it was. Click here to check out and buy his awesome ass stories and convince him to grow his hair out. This is a Youtube Red series and the first two episodes are available free. They knew what they were doing because they hooked my ass after just the first one. I have to point out that I was not a huge fan of Karate Kid. I saw the first two one time and never watched the remakes. Culturally this is one of those movies that never went away and is quoted by people and series. “Wax on, wax off.” All that. I thought this series would be a straight up comedy sort of mocking the original movies, but it is not that at all.

The Review: Psychokinesis

Psychokinesis 8/10

I just finished watching this crazy ass South Korean movie on Netflix called Psychokinesis. I enjoyed this so damned much. More than I thought I would. What I liked the most was that in a regular length movie they managed to create a superhero origin story, go into his past, and his attempts to be a hero to his daughter and redeem himself. It is such a simple story but people will find ways to over complicate things. This is about a guy named Shin Seok-heon that works as a security guard stealing things from the break room when he can and then getting drunk and passing out at home. One day while on a walk he stops for some water and takes a sip not knowing that a meteor had crashed and contaminated the drink he had. He later discovers that he has telekinetic powers.

Steel Punch 4: Waking Maria Video Game Soundtrack

At the end of the last soundtrack I ended up inspiring myself to make a fourth. Steel Punch 4: Waking Maria may be the last for the Steel Punch series. What is Steel Punch? It is a video game that exists only in my head. I know what the levels and characters look like when I listen to the music but have not drawn anything related to it and likely never will. Click for Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

The Review: Headshot

Headshot 7/10

I just finished watching this movie called Headshot on Netflix. Found it by accident which is how Netflix goes since they think they know what I want to see and hide what I really do. This is pretty much a long movie with a simple premise but that seems to be a thing with the few action movies I've seen from Indonesia. There is this weird ability to not know when to end the movie. I saw this because the guy, Iko Uwais, from The Raid and The Raid 2 starred in it and that dude can beat the shit out of folks with his elbows and knees. He washes up on a beach all jacked up after a flashback showing a prison escape that is prefaced on carelessness and police with bad aim.

Stop It Kanye West: The Final Fight Edition

There will be mistakes, there will be flaws in the way I communicate. Because we're human beings, we're flawed. I'm not media trained. I'm not studied in that. I'm not trying to say the right thing. I'm just trying to say exactly what I feel out of love.”

Which is why you should stop it. This is the fourth time I've written about Kanye West. (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) West has been on a very public downward spiral for years now which has seemed to amplify in recent weeks. I started this off with a quote from him stating that he is not media trained because he is using it as an excuse for his behavior. Everything he says is covered by an excuse, or if you wanna be politically correct, a reason. It is because of drug use. It is because of stress. It is because he was scared. It is because his mother died. It is because of you, the public.
