Anon
4/10
I
checked this movie out on Netflix called Anon starring Clive Owen and
Amanda Seyfried. This movie could have been so much better than it
was but they seemed to want to save all the crazier shit until the
end which would have benefited the middle of this even more. Sometime
in the future there is zero privacy. This is some Black Mirror type
shit and if this came out before that series it would have had more
of an impact on me. Or even if it came out five years ago. There is a
thing called Mind's Eye where you and everyone else is shown through
your eyes as you walk down the street. Hell, even if you look at
plants it is shown the type of them. It is pretty easy being a cop
until someone is killed and the killer can't be seen.
Owen
is a detective named Sal Frieland. He is divorced and has a dead kid
because that is the only way people get divorced in movies these
days. He is called onto a case where a man was killed at point blank
range but they can not see who did it because the view before he is
killed switches to the view from the killers eyes totally freaking
the guy out. It happens a few more times and Frieland figures it was
a woman he saw earlier that showed no name above her head. He decides
to go undercover as a guy needing a contract killer and comes into
contact with her. He hires her, they have the sex, she finds out who
he is, shit gets crazy.
She
starts erasing all the memories of his kid which is something people
can do by playback. She also starts adding shit that isn't there like
flames and a dog attacking him. That stuff was cool and I wish they
had shown that being done to other people that she killed. The ending
gets super convoluted and even though this was just over an hour and
a half there is so many slow parts that it felt much longer. I liked
the way the movie looked and the odd camera angles used at times.
This would be something cool to have on while you cleaned up around
the house or even with the volume off and be fine.
