Holy shit this show is good! This gonna be full of spoilers. I need to figure out how the hell I am even gonna write about this because there are a lot of people and a lot of things happening. Maybe I will just go character by character and try to tie all of their stories together and see how it goes. This is gonna be a mess. This season was the most violent, funniest, most somehow emotional, and best acted season so far. First season was good. Second was great. This was incredible!
The Boys are working for Victoria Neuman's Bureau of Superhero Affairs. Hughie is there with her and they get sent on missions to fuck folks up for the government. Frenchie and Kimiko go and check out that dude that turns tiny. Frenchie walks in just as he explodes out of a dudes dick and they get into a fight. Butcher arrives and captures the guy in a bag of coke. Stan Edgar makes Starlight co-captain of The Seven which Homelander is very upset about. Oh, and Maeve gives Butcher vials of some temp V so he can have powers for a 24 hour period. This is not gonna end well. She wants him to check into Soldier Boy because he was taken out by a weapon that they think they can use against Homelander. Oh, and Neuman is being followed by this guy who keeps calling her Nadia and she knows him from her past. He needs help and he gets it in the form of being blown apart by her. Hughie sees all this but she doesn't know. Now The Boys know who the head popper is.
Hughie finds out that Victoria Neuman was named Nadia and adopted by Stan Edgar! Frenchie and Kimiko go to a Vought theme park to find Soldier Boys old girlfriend named Crimson. They almost capture her but she escapes. Butcher takes some of the temp V after seeing visions of his younger brother warning him not to. He confronts Soldier Boys former sidekick after getting shot at. He ends up beating the shit out of him and then lasering him. Mother's Milk is going through it. His OCD stems from something Soldier Boy did to his family when he was a child that we learn about later. Homelander at a birthday celebration where he saves a life goes sideways when he learns that Stormfront killed herself from her hospital bed. Later that day he starts ranting at a rally and people side with his crazy ass for being himself.
After being a monster on TV Homelander gets even more popular (with White folk) and forces Starlight to let The Deep back into the team. His woman writes everything for him and mouths what he says as he does it. This former superhero boy band member and Starlight's ex Supersonic is on a reality show to become a new member of The Seven. She begs him not to because Homelander is a psychopath. Malory, the one who started Butcher on his campaign of revenge, finally tells the truth about what happened early in her career. In South America they were trading drugs and weapons when Soldier Boy and his team showed up. We learn Black Noir is actually a Black dude. There was an attack and his face got mangled and Soldier Boy was taken by the Russians and presumed dead. Frenchie has to deal with Little Nina who was someone he used to work for so that they can get to Russia.
After being vomited on by Butcher Hughie knows that temp V exists and wants some. Butcher says no. In Russia they find a hamster full of V that has powers when they are attacked. Butcher reveals he has powers now which disgusts MM. He has super strength, laser eyes, and bullet proof. Hughie also stole some from Butcher and can teleport but loses his clothes when he uses the power. They find Soldier Boy frozen who wakes and blasts Kimiko causing her to lose her ability to heal. Neuman betrays Edgar after Homelander gives her some V to give to her daughter. Its fucked up. Starlight brings on Maeve to help take down Homelander and Supersonic tells A-Train (I'll mention him more) who tells Homelander who smashes Supersonic to death and shows Starlight letting her know that Hughie is next if she doesn't get with his program.
They get Kimiko to a hospital and she is happy that she lost her powers. She gives him a smooch and then a whole dance number happens because she can now talk and sing. Turns out it was not real and Frenchie gets kidnapped by Little Nina. Starlight is told by Hughie that he is taking the temp V and she is pissed. He just wants to be a hero and be the one doing the saving. Maeve brings Butcher some more temp V and he talks about how he has to kill every single supe in the world...so she fucks him. It was weird. Ashley who is still pulling her hair out from stress is now running Vought and the power gets to her head immediately. A-Train wants this hero named Blue Hawk to apologize because he super assaults mostly Black people when he fights crime. He brings him to his brothers community center and his brother is pissed. It goes off the rails and Blue Hawk ends up beating the shit out of people and paralyzes A-Train's brother. A-Train can't do shit because if he runs his heart will explode. Butcher, MM, and Hughie finds out that Soldier Boy is going after his ex from his old team so they beat him there and tie her up for Soldier Boy who fries her and will now work with them to kill Homelander. They drug MM during this because they know he wouldn't go along with working with Soldier Boy. MM had called Starlight to let her know what was happening and she begs Hughie to stop but he goes with Butcher anyway.
Herogasm!!! The Deep and Homelander now know that Soldier Boy is alive and real and freak out. Black Noir who knows how dangerous dude is cuts out his tracking chip and runs away. Little Nina has Frenchie tied up to watch as either Kimiko or Cherie will be killed. Kimiko breaks free and goes nuts on them killing folks. It was awesome. She's awesome. Neuman reveals to Starlight that she knows that she knows about her head popping power and proposes they work together. Starlight declines and tells her to just kill her now. She doesn't but makes her nose bleed to let her know she could if she wanted to. The Deep heads to the TNT Twins place. They use to be on Soldier Boys team. Starlight and MM show up and that dude with the living dick is there. There are people doing all manner of nasty in this place. I can not begin to describe it. MM gets juices on her arm and then covered in semen. Hughie shows up and spots A-Train and asks for an apology. A-Train gives him a real one because he is finally recognizing that the shit he does has consequences. Hughie decides to punch him shocking A-Train because he doesn't know Hughie on that temp V. Starlight finds The Deep getting his wang mouthasized by an octopus and threatens to release it to Homelander. She then finds Hughie at the party and he teleports them out as Soldier Boy arrives and ends up hearing Russian music and scorching the who place killing a lot of people. A-Train grabs Blue Hawk and drags him at full speed killing him before having a heart attack. Starlight has MM film the bodies and announce that she is no longer Starlight and that superheroes are rotten.
Hughie, Butcher, and Soldier Boy go to find Mindstorm who used to be on his team. You cant look into his eyes. Butcher does and is stuck in a nightmare loop reliving his childhood of being abused by his father, his brother Lenny being abused, and eventually killing himself and blaming Butcher. Hughie finds Mindstorm first and begs him to help wake Butcher and after he does Soldier Boy knifes him in the eye and finds out that he has a son. Then he caves his face in with his shield. Kimiko asks Starlight to get some more V and she reluctantly does and also finds out that temp V with kill you. She asks Butcher to stop using it and tells him to warn Hughie. He says he will. He doesn't and says they need more of it. We learn from Black Noir through his animated friends just how terrible Soldier Boy was back in the day and how he got his face mangled and how they attacked Soldier Boy at once and gassed him to be taken away. It was a plan of Vought because his replacement was on the way. Soldier boy tells Homelander he is indeed his father.
Homelander has also found out where his son Ryan is and takes him away. Fuck. Butcher knocks Hughie out at a gas station to keep him from using more temp V. Maeve who was knocked out and captured and locked in a cell for her eggs to be harvested by Homelander is taken away and breaks loose from transport and finds Starlight, MM, and Hughie. By the way, MM has been dealing with his OCD and the fact that his ex wife's new husband loves Homelander and all the heroes and thinks that MM is wrong because the news says so. He ended up punching dude out in front of his daughter. Homelander ends up killing Black Noir when he returns after finding out that he knew all along that Soldier Boy was his father from a sperm sample and experiments. Just jams his fist rip through him. Homelander lets Ashley, A-Train, and The Deep know they are worthless and makes Ashley remove her wig. He then has The Deep go kill the vice president running mate. Oh, and A-Train has a new heart...courtesy of Blue Hawk! He got racist heart! Butcher, Soldier Boy, and Maeve trap everyone in a room to go stop Homelander. They get free and everyone is headed to Vought tower. It is an incredible ass fight and at this point I don't wanna spoil what happens but nothing I expected to happen did. It was great.
I think I have covered a lot but not all of everything that happened because even as I was writing this I was remembering more stuff. I know some people are turned off by the violence on this show but at least its fake. You can keep all the real violence you fill your lives with. I'll stick with dudes fucking fish and cartoons providing trauma therapy to mute ninjas. I did not think this season could top the last one but it did by far and I loved that second one. The acting in this season was incredibly on point along with the way they brought current day issues to light and made fun of people no matter where they stood. I cheered watching this, laughed, and am so happy that another season is coming.
