The Review: The Boys S2E1

"The Big Ride"

Last night I watched the first episode of the new season of The Boys. They released three of them but I am not trying to plow through since there are so many other good shows to watch right now and I am rationing shit out. I loved the first season of this and was way to excited when I found out the second would be coming out so soon. This picks up right after the previous season which I liked because I was dreading a massive flash forward. It begins with Black Noir in the middle east going after that super powered terrorist that can blow himself up but not die. It is one of the most gruesome ass scenes but I was here for it. People get throats cut, faces pulled apart, just everything. It was also more of him fighting than last season combined. He takes the guys head with him and plays with a bunny with a child. Its weird.

There is a funeral for Translucent that Homelander is using to rile people up for superheroes to be able to fight for the military. Starlight sings a song. It is ultra cheesy. The guy that runs Vought Industries Mr. Edgar is explaining how she is gonna be running now. The group of Hughie, Mother's Milk, Frenchie, and Kimiko are in a basement hiding. There is a show about how Billy Butcher blew up Stillwell. We know he did blow the building up but Homelander burned her face off before all that and then flew Billy to his still living wife and a boy with powers like Homelander. They wanna just run away but Hughie is plotting with Starlight to get some Compound V and expose it and clear their names. Mother's Milk is not happy about this.

One of Frenchie's friends show up with his arm all mangled and expecting them to fix it. They find the spot where he was hurt and a ship is in the damn street. They find video and people were being shipped to the country illegally and one of them used powers to throw the damn ship at the dude. Kimiko finds an origami bird and tries to explain its meaning to Frenchie who doesn't understand her. She just writes “boy” on a piece of paper. The team go to Raynor from the CIA and she just puts it together how Vought is running shit to pretty much take over the military. Hughie notices her nose starting to bleed and then her damn heads explodes! They run as they should. Meanwhile Annie films this guy that works in the labs at Vought and films him charging a guy to cut his limbs off. They grow back and give lunatics joy from killing but not. She blackmails him into getting some Compound V for her.

Jesus. I haven't even mentioned Deep. He is still in Cleveland losing his shit. His legacy is being erased from The Seven and he spends his time drinking and yelling at kids at a water park. He gets arrested and bailed out by a guy named Eagle the Archer. He wakes up and Eagle is there with a lady named Susan. She wants to help Deep like she did Eagle through a group called the Church of the Collective. Ashley who Homelander recruited to replace Stillwell wants to show him the new guy she brought in to join The Seven. But first he has a big drink of Stillwell's old breast milk. It was special. She shows him this cool ass blind dude that is acrobatic as hell and can fight. So of course Homelander claps his ears so hard his ears start bleeding. He lets her know no one joins the team unless he brings them in.

A new team member named Stormfront crashes a commercial that Homelander and Queen Maeve are filming. She is broadcasting all of this live online and if she wasn't I am sure Homelander would have ended her life. Homelander goes to talk to Mr. Edgar about how his contract is expiring soon and he may pursue other options. Edgar gives no fucks. He lets Homelander know about the history of the company and how Homelander has assumed that it is for superheroes when in fact it is a pharmaceutical company that he has fucked over by giving out Compound V to foreign countries and how they have to clean up his mess. Homelander tries to stare him down and he doesn't even blink. No one has ever talked this this crazy bastard this way and I loved it. He flies off in a huff to visit Butcher's not dead wife. And then Butcher shows back up to meet The Boys!
