Me and L started watching this series. She is (maybe was) a fan of American Horror Story while I watched a few seasons of it. I watched the later ones with her and while there would be good premises they managed to never stick the landing. Making more questions than answers. Not fulfilling story lines in a way that satisfied. That is the definition of The Beauty. For whatever reasons she believed this was a limited series while I assumed there would be a single season because the story is not enough to go past a season of television. We were both wrong and now threatened with another season that I for sure will not be watching. If I had written this episode by episode like I do some series you would have been able to witness my disappointment in this series week by week. But I didn't so you are gonna get a half-assed explanation for this show. I will attempt to keep this somewhat linear though the show doesn't. This model is on the runway when she veers off and starts kicking folks asses and downing water. She steals a motorcycle and crashes the shit but isn't hurt. She starts killing people in a restaurant and then she explodes. Pretty exciting start.
These two FBI agents named Cooper and Jordan bone down. They like it. No attachments. Just sex as they travel the world fighting crime. One day Cooper starts developing feelings for Jordan and she is like “Nah. I like us just fucking. Look at that handsome man over there.” She leaves with him and he infects her with this virus that turns her into a hotter version of herself. That is what the show wants me to say but the first version was more attractive and had better acting ability. I'm old and like women not young girls.
This dude named Jeremy can't get laid to save his life and is told about something to help. He gets surgery from this freak and ends up meeting some girls at a bar. They get him drunk and ditch him with the bill. He goes back to the surgeon and threatens to kill him because he didn't make him hot. The doctor has him sleep with this woman. He wakes up in a cocoon and is hot. He got this bootleg version of the virus and is now a ticking time bomb. He meets with an assassin that starts training him. The assassin, Antonio, feels for the guy. He got the virus but the good version and is sixty something years old but looks young.
The other story going on is the guy that is selling the virus as a medical magic injection named Byron. He takes it and becomes young and kills everyone that also took it but the inventor who he keeps hostage. He plans to sell this and make all the money while having Antonio kill the people that got the drug bootleg style. He is married and his wife hates his guts. He has two fuck up sons. They get the injection (one of them turns Black because Bryon is 5% Nigerian) and want mother to take it. She doesn't want to. The sons inject her against her wishes. She turns hot and kills herself.
The drug is released and everyone loves it. A high school girl gets it. Her friend then gets it bootleg style from one of the employees at a clinic who injected himself twice and bones her. She becomes a monster. This guy and his in the process of transitioning to a woman friend take it. He gets hot. His friend becomes a cis woman. This drugs makes no sense. The guy gets killed. The drug has insane side effects and Byron is fucked. He son wants to plan a takeover of the business with the help of a woman that works in robots and shit. Cooper takes the drug via boning with Jordan (not gonna get into all the shit that happened with getting captured and such) and ends up becoming a little boy.
When I was watching this I knew I would no ending that made sense or satisfied me or made me want to continue another season. I was glad it was done because the virus seemed to set up rules and then break or change those rules. No one sat down and said “This is what this drug does when you get it injected, fuck, or like that one guy get a piece of blown up hot person in your eyes.” It did what it wanted when it needed the story to go a certain place. I am far more annoyed with this show than I am showing because I can see where a good show was hidden in here and the bed was just shit in.
