The Review: What We Do In The Shadows Season 2

What We Do In The Shadows Season Two 10/10

Episode 9

This show is too damned funny. This is one of those series that I wonder why more people aren't talking about it. In the past two seasons, twenty episodes total, there have been no episodes that haven't made me crack up laughing. This episode starts with Laszlo cutting apples from his tree because as a vampire they are gross to him and he is lured away by a ghostly voice that belongs to a goat. He gets sucked into a portal into the sky shouting “What kind of goat sorcery is this?!” Yes, I laughed like an idiot. Nandor and Nadja look for Laszlo and she immediately blames witches. Nandor thinks she blames everything on witches. Well, it turns out it is witches. Nandor gets snatched away next. Guillermo, Colin, and Nadja hop into a car chasing down the witches and find them at a shop.

Guillermo is nominated to go into the shop and find out what happened. Nandor threatens the witches who have him and Laszlo tied up. They want to extract sperm from the vampires to make a youth potion. Nandor and Laszlo are excited about this. Very excited. That is until they see the tools that will be used. Nadja bursts in and confronts the lead witch. They know each other. Also turns out Laszlo has slept with her and many women thinking they were Nadja because they had dark hair and an accent. Guillermo, who has been watching Shark Tank, pitches a plan to collect the sperm for the witches in exchange for their lives. I could tell that at this point Guillermo is very much over hanging with this coven.

Episode 10

Nandor wakes up pissed because Guillermo is not there to help open his coffin for him. He finds a note that just says “Sorry.” He cares until they get an invitation to the Vampire Theater. As Laszlo describes “They have genitalia on display which humans could not even begin to be able to comprehend.” They realize that with Guillermo gone that they have no clean clothes. There are also dead bodies all over the house and Colin slips in some blood and it made me laugh far too loudly. Colin says that he can help but that it will be dangerous and in exchange he wants a bigger room in the basement. The vampires agree. He is just going to the laundromat. They don't know that though.

Guillermo moves back in with his mother. He had been having trouble helping vampires and wanting to be one along with finding out that he belongs to a linage of vampire hunters. The vampires arrive at the theater, with fresh clean clothes, and are shocked to find out that they are guests of honor. Then they are tied up and tried for murdering many vampires. They don't know what they are even talking about because in reality Guillermo has been doing all the killings. He heads back to the vampire house because he needs a fridge for his mother and sees the filthy house and invitation to the theater. He heads there and watches a play reenacting all his murders with the vampires getting the blame. He eventually storms the stage and begins killing vampires left and right before letting the vampires know that his last name is de la Cruz (of the Cross). I have no idea how the next season will start let alone end but I am so happy that I got into this show and am excited about the next one. One of the best series I've ever seen.
