Me and my lady watched a lot of movies over the last few days and I am trying not to let them start piling up so I am gonna start with the first one we checked out called Imaginary. This movie was terrible ass. It is funny how the worst a movie is the longer I know I am gonna be ranting about it but I will try not to be too long with this one. This children's book author/artist named Jessica is having this crazy ass dream where a man-spider is chasing her all around a house. She wakes scared as shit and her husband, Max, kinda jokes with her about it. This was not a dream I could ever imagine joking about. They are waiting for home renovations to be done at her childhood home. She decides they should just move on in now which is a terrible ass idea. There is also Alice and Taylor, Max's children from his last marriage. Alice is little and precocious as fuck while Taylor is a teenager meaning she is annoying as all fuck. Source: I work in a high school. Everything she says to Jessica is a slapable offense.
The little one Alice is searching all around the house and ends up in the world's creepiest basement and finds a teddy bear named Chauncey. The bear talks to and through her and has her make a list of things that she needs to gather and do. Taylor meets the neighbor boy named Liam. He dumb. Liam tells Taylor about the creepy old lady that lives next door named Gloria. Gloria meets Jessica and tells her that she used to babysit her. Jessica has no recollection of any of this which I find strange. My memory is too good at times. I can recall a crib at my grandmama's house, my stroller, and the first time I ever was placed in a shower. Something happened to Jessica when she was little and she plum don't remember any of it.
Max has to leave for a tour which is shit timing considering they just moved into a new place and Taylor is a shitbird to her. Chauncey got Alice doing weird shit like gathering bugs and tries to get her to hurt herself. Jessica gets a therapist to come and they realize that only Jessica and Alice can even see the stuffed bear. The therapist shows Jessica some footage of another patient who cut his thumb off saying the same shit Alice did. Alice was gonna slam her hand on a nail. Alice later vanishes and Taylor blames it all on her (even though Taylor invited Liam over who offered her drugs and got spooked by the bear). Gloria fills Taylor in on Jessica's old imaginary friend and how she too had vanished. I forgot to mention that Jessica's dad is in a old folks home and has lost his mind. She visits him and he warns her or tries to but since she can't remember her childhood nothing sinks in.
The old creepy lady Gloria decides to come with Jessica and Taylor to save Alice. They do the ritual and a part is to hurt someone or some shit and Jessica tells Taylor the truth about how she a shitty daughter and sister. Oh! I forgot to mention how Taylor told their OG mom where they were and this crazy bitch showed up having tea with Alice before tackling Jessica. Yeah. Totally left that part out. So they go into this weird imagination world and its so dumb. Gloria admits that she has been talking to Chauncey and they will all live in this imagination world together. Chauncey shows up and immediately kills this heifer. Then they make the mistake of showing the full creature and we laughed at this evil Muppet.
Fast forward they save Alice but then it turns out to be a dream and then the girls save Jessica from Chauncey and seal the door and burn the house down. Then they see a teddy bear at a hotel this kid has and is talking to and leave. This movie was so damned stupid. Bad writing. Bad effects. The characters acted like straight up fools most of the time. Just being dumb to move the story along. Why did we watch this?
