This weekend my lady and I watched this movie. I didn't like it because of what I mentioned in my last post: thinking someone didn't deserve a happy ending. This lady Maya who is a teacher plans on spending the holidays alone since her mother is with her new man and meeting their family. She goes shopping and sees a guy she thinks is cute. She ends up dropping her phone and he picks it up. He heads outside to hand it to her and slips on some ice and is knocked out cold. He ends up in a coma and when she is in the waiting room with her terrible friend it turns out that the knocked out man's doctor is her ex boyfriend. Her best friend for no reason says that Maya is dating the unconscious man. Now everything is downhill from here. By the way, these OWN and Hallmark movies make it impossible to find images to use.
The family of the guy shows up and Maya lies and says she is his girlfriend. The younger sister is suspicious while his parents and grandmother think she is the surprise that he had. They invite her to their place and she spends all the time with them as her ex boyfriend pines for her like a dirtbag. Even his coworker can see it. He sits looking at old pictures of them all “Aw, man...” Maya is also starting to feel things for him. Maya's friend is no help at all even though she started all of this but I am annoyed that Maya didn't shut that shit down immediately. This situation continues to get worse because Maya is all involved with this family now and people are developing feelings for her. Meanwhile coma dude is slowly improving.
Maya and Daniel start hanging out and getting all cute with one another. The sister of coma dude finds out that Maya and him used to date but they say they are not compatible anymore because she wont stop running and he works too much. The huff away but still want each other. Daniel tries to make the moves on Maya and she backs away and he gets upset about it. Every time she is gonna tell the truth someone stops her by saying something nice. Maya gets upset at reality and wants to run away again. Her mom does the same thing and she decides to stay.
The dude ends up waking up as everyone is caroling in the hospital and the guy is like “Girlfriend?” Turns out that his surprise was introducing his family to his BOYFRIEND. This man gay as hell. They look at her like she lost her damn mind. Daniel is madder than he should be considering he was the one trying to steal the lady of a coma patient that he is the doctor of. Everyone in this movie was crazy or didn't ask enough questions. Maya couldn't lie properly or the situation was so damned insane that it was impossible to not believe. Maya heads to coma dudes place and the family hear her out and invite her in but she needs to find Daniel who also appears. They kiss. They all have a big happy meal with one another. The end.
