Holy crap this was an amazing series! Eight episodes and not one of them dragged or was useless which is how any show that isn't some twenty-something episode long series should be. Not one could be skipped. Damn. This starts off with a thick fog rolling across Derry and everyone like “What's happening here?” Except this one woman that is smiling all creepy like Pennywise. The military and their dumb asses are watching from their base tracking what is going down but doing nothing because this is what they wanted!
At the school a bloody hand calls all the younger students to the auditorium. The Patty Cakes and other show up wondering where the teachers are. The principal comes out from behind the curtain with his wig falling off and the kids are looking like “The hell?” Next Pennywise, who is using this man like a puppet, rips his eyes and head off and then tosses his body off the stage. The kids are freaking out and try to leave while Pennywise is singing his ass off and doing his dance. He finishes by deadlighting all of them and reveals that he has his carriage waiting for them outside. What is this man doing with all these kids? These kids I don't care about because everyone is Derry is awful?
Marge, Lilly, and Ronnie are in their club house and see the fog. They rush down and the wall is covered in missing kid posters. One of Will shows up and they decide they gotta go save him. They were all on one bike and spot a milk truck and Marge, who has seen her uncle drive before, takes the wheel with her one eyed self. They start following this trail of blood from the school. Pennywise is Pied Piper-ing a Soul Train line of children who are floating in the damn air. Leroy tries calling Will at home (he doesn't know Pennywise paid a house visit last episode) and after he hangs up it rings again. It's Will. He says he is scared and Leroy asks where he is. Pennywise then jumps on the line like my mother used to do in the 90's. You kids don't know about that. Shit was embarrassing. Then Pennywise says something I will remember for years. “The dark meat taste twice as sweet.” Oh, hell nah!
Leroy heads over to Dick's place but this man is going through all of it. All of it! He is sitting on a bed seeing all man of nasty ass spirits creeping towards him. They all know that he can see them and they want the attention. He has a gun to his head and mouth when Leroy kicks down the door. Dick points the gun at him and says his head is all fucked up and this is Leroy's fault. Leroy says that Pennywise has his son and that he will do anything he can to help Dick, even shooting him if he wants. They head to Rose's place where Leroy gets slapped around by Charlotte for losing their son. They want Dick to use his powers to help but he says he can't even hear himself think let alone find the dagger that the girls have. Rose makes him some tea and he is able to see the girls in the milk van. The girls crash after hitting a pothole, dropping the dagger, and getting into a scuffle trying to convince Lilly's crazy ass that she ain't crazy. The adults race off to find the girls. Rose and Dick have a plan to buy the girls some time.
The girls follow the trail of floating kids and locate Will and try to wake him up. Pennywise stops the carriage and starts talking mad shit to them. He runs up and Ronnie pulls out the dagger so he skedaddles away into the fog. Like, he literally skedaddles. Then he starts rushing past them and disappearing before yoinking Marge away. He reveals to her that she is going to marry and have a kid named Richie and that her son will kill him. Or not. Pennywise says that time doesn't really matter to him and its all mixed up. “The seed of your stinking loins and his filthy friends bring me my death. Or is it birth? I get confused. Tomorrow, yesterday? It’s all the same for little Pennywise.”Just as he is about to eat Marge he freezes midair and she runs back to Ronnie and Lilly. The floating kids fall from the air. I know there has to be some broken bones and a litany of concussions. Will wakes up like “What happened?”
All the adults show up and load Will and Ronnie into the van. Ronnie gives the dagger to her father and he and Taniel head off to bury it under this deadwood tree. Forgot to mention this. This spot is the furthest that the material can be planted and still contain Pennywise in Derry. As Taniel and Leroy head to the tree gunfire opens. Taniel is hit in the neck and Leroy gets it in the hip. Will rushes up and is afraid to take the dagger saying he is not like his father. After a pep talk he starts marching there with the other kids using the fog as cover.
Pennywise is stuck in his own head being manipulated by Dick. Dick has placed Pennywise back into the time period of Bob Gray who is surrounded by carnival folk and his young daughter, Ingrid. Pennywise is like “The fuck is this?!” as they tell him he was found drunk and must have bumped his head. He says he is not Bob Gray but a god and eater of worlds. He gets bitched slapped. In the real world Shaw's dumb ass walks up to Pennywise who is frozen and explains that he will stop whatever Dick is doing and set him free.
The kids are struggling to put the dagger into the ground as Pennywise happily skates on the ice towards a spot past the deadwood where he will be free. Leroy blows his head off a couple of times but it keeps on growing back. Pennywise hits Leroy with the deadlights and continues on. Back near the van the group have disarmed the military asshats and Dick looks over and sees the Native lady standing there. Rose feels something on the back of her neck. She asks Dick what he sees and he says “A motherfucking miracle.” Rich appears from behind and starts racing towards the kids as Pennywise now in bat form is flying towards them. This was the fist pumping scene of the year.
The kids with the help of Rich jam the dagger into the ground and it blows Pennywise back. It looked pretty damn cool. Pennywise starts changing into different forms including pickle daddy. He says “Lively crowd” and his body disintegrates and he flies off in balls of light. Rose sings to her nephew Taniel who is dead as everyone unites. At Rich's funeral Marge gives a very nice speech as Dick notices Rich leaning on Will and looking back at him. He then goes to his grieving parents. Dick says the hand they feel is their son and he will always be there. It is sad as hell but nice.
Marge finds one of Rich's toy planes in a tree and tells Lilly that he did make it to the main street like he hoped. Marge tells Lilly what Pennywise told her and Lilly is like “That's a fight for someone else.” Leroy and Charlotte turn down Rose's offer to stay. Leroy got a honorable discharge but can't talk about what happened. Will and Ronnie share a smooch. Ronnie and her dad drive off. Ronnie's dad sure got a lot of people killed for some crazy White booty but at least he gets to leave, right? Dick says goodbye to Leroy and mentions he is gonna travel and then work at a hotel saying “I mean, much trouble can a hotel be?” Charlotte decides that they will stay in Derry for god knows what reason.
In a post credit seen we see Ingrid being nuts at Juniper Hill being calmed by music. Fast forward to 1988 and she is old and still there. Some screams happen and Ingrid wanders down the hall to find Beverly Marsh from the It movie consoling her father after her mother has hung herself. Her father elbows her away. As Beverly cries Ingrid says “You know what they say about Derry. No one who dies here never really dies.” The actress that plays her passed away just this past June.
