L. and I started watching this new series Made For Love on HBO Max the other day. It was insane. There are six episodes out right now but we checked out the first two which was very easy considering they are less than half an hour long which made me cheer inside. This is about a woman named Hazel Green-Gogol who seems to have a perfect life with her tech husband Byron Gogol. Everything is monitored. The love in a place called The Hub where even the sky is fake. She chills poolside reading magazines while a dolphin swims laps in the pool. Her orgasms are even monitored and she is required to rate them and make suggestions. Its fucking weird. The show goes back and forth through time showing some aspects of her childhood and parts of her and Byron's relationship. At a gathering for shareholders and such Byron announces that he has a new product called Made For Love where you and someone else will see, hear, feel, and know everything about one another at all times. Its a camera and recording device for a human. Also a GPS. Its creepy. This begins with Hazel coming out of a hatch in the middle of a desert and giving the finger to her home and hitching a ride.
After getting a ride she ends up at a strip club during the day and grabs some clothes and a pack of Canada Dry. She is spazzing out constantly by the way. An employee of her husbands named Lyle shows up saying he is there to help her. He gets three of his fingers chopped off and Hazel hops into another truck and heads to her fathers place who she hasn't seen in ten years. She has not been out of the Hub in ten years and is even weirded out to touch real money again.
A pay phone starts ringing as she approaches it. Then every car she passes goes off. A guy walks up to her and says Byron is on the phone and relays what he is saying to her. Then she finds out that Byron has already put Made For Love in her head and she freaks the fuck out. She bursts into her dads trailer and finds him in bed having sex with a doll. He doesn't even freak out when he sees her. She just stares at him and passes right the fuck out on the floor covered in blood from Lyle and leaving me with all kinds questions. There are a lot of little things I left out because the first episode jumps around a lot time wise so its hard to write about it in a linear way. I was intrigued by the first episode.
