The Review: What We Do In The Shadows Episodes 2-4

Episode 2

This show is funny as hell. In this episode the vampires are pissed that they are even supposed to take over Staten Island meaning they should have taken over North America by now. Colin, the energy vampire, says he knows how they can attain power and takes them to a city council meeting and starts sucking energy from the whole room by being dull. The faces he makes after taking energy wreck me. Laszlo dazzles one member and she mentions how she saw three raccoon in her trash. He decides to use a damn flute and leaves a mountain of dead raccoon on her porch. Nandor dazzles another member who praises the vampires and says that they need to give them power before they are destroyed. He gets yanked away while screaming.

The Review: Circus Of Books

Circus Of Books Too Close/10

So I finally watched the Circus Of Books documentary on Netflix. This is mostly gonna be me talking about what it was like working there. A few weeks back Barry had told me about it and that it would on soon and that I should watch it. I asked him if I was in it and he said no. I wondered if they had talked to any former employees about working there since there were so many. A few weeks after I started working there in 1999 I compiled a list of how many people had come and gone since I worked there. I added myself to the list in 2006. I was the 106th employee to leave in those seven years.

The Review: I Am Mother

I Am Mother 9/10

Full of spoilers. This was an excellent film. Yes, I said film because I Am Mother deserves that kinda respect. I had seen a clip of this on Corridor Digital but knew nothing about it and saw it was on Netflix the other day and decided to check it out. I am so glad I did. I normally don't give much of a damn about robot movies. There has to be this weird ass combination that I'm still not sure of to make me care and this one managed to hit every one of my mystery notes. This takes place in the future where this robot called Mother is charged with repopulating humanity. She places an embryo in this machine where is ages. Fast forward 13,000 days and she is taking care of this girl called Daughter.

The Review: The Midnight Gospel

The Midnight Gospel 10/10

I watched the series The Midnight Gospel on Netflix over a three day period and my mind melted in a good way. I had heard a few weeks back that this was a thing that existed so I had to check it out. Listening to other people describe it you would think that this was their first exposure to hearing a deep conversation that isn't about politics. This is about a “spacecaster” named Clancy that lives in a trailer in this weird dimension called The Chromatic Ribbon. He uses a computer that allows him to enter simulations of other universes. He has a tendency to get shoes from each one he visits. His computer makes planetary suggestions for him as well as designs an avatar to use. He sticks his head in the cheeks and blasts off.

The Review: What We Do In The Shadows Episode 1

Episode 1 “Pilot”

I got to check out the FX series What We Do In The Shadows with CK and I'll be damned if this show isn't funny as hell. It was just the pilot episode but still if it stays this funny I'll watch the whole thing. I had seen posters for it last year but had no desire to see it because I thought that it was just a remake of the movie with a different cast. I was wrong. Totally different vampires. It has a set up of everything being filmed and it made me laugh during one scene when they acknowledged the camera because I kinda forgot about it.

The Review: Happy Season 2 Episodes 1/2

Episode 1 “The War on Easter”

Season two of Happy! wasted no time going crazy. I loved the first season and was afraid that this one wouldn't be as good. So far two episodes in I am digging it. This begins with a bunch of nuns with bombs strapped to their chests and crying. They seem upset, as they should be, but ready to die together. That is until one of them books it and starts trashing the city. The other nuns all break into sprints doing the same. The nun that started the running gets tackled by another who tells her to stop. She gets her ass kicked for being nice and the running nun finds a glowing Easter egg in the trash. She presses the stop button and all their bombs go off except for hers. She is interrogated later and says that a evil bunny told them that the detonator would only kill the person closest to it. The bunny lied.

The Review: Raising Dion Season 1

Raising Dion DNF/10

Full disclosure, I stopped watching towards the end of episode two when I said out loud “Oh, stop being so stupid!” Raising Dion is about a single mother named Nicole Reese whose son Dion starts developing powers. Like, all the powers. I first heard about this years ago when I randomly saw a trailer years ago and it just went away. I didn't even know a comic book was involved. Last year I heard that a series was being made and suddenly it was on Netflix right around the time I got rid of it. I have it again and decided to check this series out and was almost immediately annoyed. In case you don't know I can not stand most kid actors. To me there are two types. Amazing and terrible. There is no in between. When there is a child on screen that I don't mind it makes me so happy which is why a movie like Shazam was so shocking. None of the kids in it bugged me. But this one kid alone was too much for me to deal with.

The Review: Fighter In The Wind

Fighter In The Wind 4/10

I was watching a fight reaction video and a clip from this movie Fighter In The Wind was shown so I checked if I could watch it and it was on Amazon. This is about this boxer who runs away from Korea to Japan to fight in the war but then the war ends and he is kinda fucked. The Japanese don't want him there, the Yakuza don't want him there, and soldiers wanna kick his ass. One day he gets shamed in front of a crowd and pisses himself. He also has a weird ass guy that becomes his friend for comic relief. He ends up in a camp about to be executed and tries to fight for freedom and gets his ass kicked. He vows to become a great fighter.

The Review: Darktown Strutters (1975)

Darktown Strutters DAFUCK/10

This movie was written in three days. And by three days that probably means one hour each day. I just finished watching this...thing called Darktown Strutters with Miss Jackie. We messaged back and forth during the entire movie since she contacted me first about it. I was gonna wait till morning but ended up watching it tonight. I am gonna end up having to sleep on this one and finish this in the morning because this thing called a movie was likely one of the most insane things I have ever seen. If not the most it is definitely top three. Before I begin though here are some quotes from me as I watched.

The Review: Ozark Season 3 Episodes 9/10 (Finale)

Ozark Season Three 11/10

Episode 9 “Fire Pink”

This damn show. I swear. I watched the last two episodes with CK and thankfully we were able to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender afterward because even though it was bright and sunny today this show was shaking the hell out of us. Ben is in a taxi rambling his ass off. It turns out this is a flashback as he heads to Helen's place. It is minutes of him going on an emotional roller coaster. He ruined Helen's life by telling her daughter what she does for a living. Helen heads over to talk to Wendy knowing that Ben was released but Wendy doesn't know what Ben has done just yet. Marty calls and lets Wendy know and she stands there with Helen in her face trying her best to pretend she don't know. We kept on calling Helen a viper because that is what she legit is.

The Review: Ozark Season 3 Episodes 7/8

Episode 7 “In Case of Emergency”

This episode was pure intensity on every level. If there was an episode that was an example of airing out grievances this was it. I say that now and the next episode is gonna end up being crazy as hell. It starts off with Ruth accompanied by Helen being interrogated after the shootings and the truck exploding. Agents Maya and Trevor (he is the asshole one that had a relationship with the agent that was murdered last season) are running this and Trevor tries to goad Ruth into exploding. As they leave Ben picks her up and says they should just run out of town. She tries to explain to him that isn't possible and says Ben is acting strange. He figures that his sister Wendy told him about his medication and how he stopped taking it. I am waiting for him to snap again.

The Review: Ozark Season 3 Episodes 5/6

Episode 5 “It Came From Michoacán”

Another episode another hour of me gasping and being in shock. Sometimes in shock because I am grossed out. I'll get to that soon enough and if you have seen the episode you can probably guess why. So Marty is back at home and everything is back to normal and that is creepy. Marty just got back from being tortured and Wendy wakes to him making breakfast for the family and telling the kids about what happened to him like it was a trip to the store. Wendy is worried about him but he is like “Ah, we got things to take care of. Don't worry about me. I am fine.” Crazy ass. He tells her that when he was faced with death he did not do what he thought he would. Likely meaning pee and cry. Wendy gets a call from Navarro and asks what happened and Navarro says he now knows who Marty is and he is just like him and wants to win. Huh. That sounds bad.

The Review: Ozark Season 3 Episodes 3/4

Episode 3 “Kevin Cronin Was Here”

This season is too damn much for me. I got myself to watch two episodes back to back so this is gonna cover both. It starts off with Wendy busting a cap in Marty in the middle of the road. I wasn't even shocked with the way they've been acting lately. It turns out to be a dream. Wendy decides to close down the casino she got to launder money and it ends up fucking over Marty and Ruth because he was planning to launder money there himself. The older Cosgrove heads over to talk to Marty but he is not there and he lets slip that Marty had them set up that fireworks explosion on the boat. Helen suspects that Marty is working against her and Wendy and says that the cartel dude Navarro does not want the new casino used for money laundering. Great.

The Review: Ozark Season 3 Episode 2

Episode 2 “Civil Union”

Oh my god this fucking show! I am just two episodes in and it is too much for me to deal with! I just finished watching episode two of this third season of Ozark and I have to talk about how great it is. Every single moment matters. You can not have this on and do other things. I couldn't even iron and watch this. I sat here and either had my hands on my head or covering my mouth multiple times. The episode starts off with this substitute teacher being ignored by his class until one of the girls screams when she sees an image sent to her phone. The teacher confronts the class before taking all their phones and throwing them into a wood chipper outside and fighting the city worker. I was like “Who is this man?” Then I found out later and said “Oh, no...”

The Review: Ozark Season 3 Episode 1

Episode 1 “Wartime”

My god this show. I started watching season three of Ozark on Netflix today and I am gonna review it episode by episode. I loved the first and second seasons and I don't know how folks are able to binge a show this damn intense without having stupid dreams or retaining all the information. I can do it with some shows but this sure ain't one of 'em. I am gonna be bouncing all over the place with this by the way since there are a lot of characters and everyone is actually important. Down in Mexico this delivery dude looks to be dropping off a package and the next thing you know he stabs the cashier in the hand and slits his throat. He then head sot the back burning money and blows these two dudes up. As money is flying around outside he sets another bomb off in the crowd. This show is wasting zero time getting intense.

The Review: Angel Has Fallen

Angel Has Fallen 2/10

Okay. I saw that Angel Has Fallen arrived on Netflix the other day and had to watch it. Why? Because I like to punish myself and hoped that it would be good. I liked Olympus Has Fallen. London Has Fallen was ass. So I wanted this one to be good. It wasn't. It felt like it was three hours long and took way too long to get to the action and the action was insane. Let me talk about this weird shit. Mike Banning is having a training drill with these guys that are basic military bad guys. This one dude Wade Jennings trained him so I knew that he was gonna be a bad guy. They never mentioned this guy in previous films so yeah.

The Review: Tiger King Murder, Mayhem and Madness Episode 7 (Finale)

This is my reaction while watching the final episode of Tiger King. This was an entire bag of nonsense.

Episode 7 Thoughts

Happy times at the fair with Joe and Travis and all the boys. Something bad is about to happen.

Joe not happy to be in a prison (cage). The irony.

Its crazy how Jeff got involved in all this shit and is now opening his own zoo where Joe started.

Ew, stop letting that monkey eat from your mouth!

The Review: Tiger King Murder, Mayhem and Madness Episode 5/6

Just watched episodes 5 and 6 of Tiger King and this shit is a mess. I can't believe this level of nonsense can even take place so recently. I would understand this more if it happened in the 80's.

Episode 5 Thoughts

This dude has fucking chimps. Fuck dealing with those little monsters.

Joe is super mad at Jeff. I need to see how the shit between them plays out.

The Review: Tiger King Murder, Mayhem and Madness Episode 3/4

Just finished watching two more episodes of Tiger King. People told me that it gets crazier and now that I am halfway through I am a believer. This shit is beyond absurd!

Episode 3 Thoughts

Oh, so now everyone is diverting the attention from their own crazy shit by saying Carole fed her husband to her tigers. And they using the slow motion head turn of Carole, too. I see what you did there. I used to be an editor.

Carole low key looks like Nicole Sullivan/Wendi McLendon-Covey. Used to have ultra crushes on both of them but somehow not Carole. Go figure.

Whoa, Carole's missing husband Don's ex wife is shading the fuck out of Carole. Damn, does anyone like Carole?!

The Review: Tiger King Murder, Mayhem and Madness Episode 1/2

So I started watching Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness on Netflix after hearing how crazy and insane it was. Instead of covering it like a regular The Review I decided to write down my reactions as I watched the series. This will be for episodes one and two.
