The Review: Legion Season 3

Legion Season Three 10/10

Full of spoilers. There were so many times during this season that I forgot to take a damn breath. Wow. That was great. I was sitting here a couple days ago trying to figure out what to watch and remembered that Legion was on Hulu. The idea was to watch two episodes a day. That went out the window after watching two last night and all the rest today so this will not be a recap of every episode. That is difficult with this kind of show anyway so this is mostly gonna be me talking about what I enjoyed and gushing over it. I also see from my reviews of season one and season two that I have given every season 10/10. That is a first for any series I've ever watched. It sucks that not as many people are/were talking about how great this show was.

The Review: What We Do In The Shadows Episode 1

Episode 1 “Pilot”

I got to check out the FX series What We Do In The Shadows with CK and I'll be damned if this show isn't funny as hell. It was just the pilot episode but still if it stays this funny I'll watch the whole thing. I had seen posters for it last year but had no desire to see it because I thought that it was just a remake of the movie with a different cast. I was wrong. Totally different vampires. It has a set up of everything being filmed and it made me laugh during one scene when they acknowledged the camera because I kinda forgot about it.

The Review: Legion Season 2

Legion Season Two 10/10

I finished watching season two of the FX series Legion the other day and have been trying to figure out how to even write a review. After watching the first season a couple years back and absolutely loving it for whatever reason I dragged my ass watching the second season. Yes, I know there is a third and last season and I will drag my ass to watch it because I am bummed a great show is ending. Hmm. Maybe I'm not. Shows go too long these days and three seasons seem to be the magic number. The last season focused on getting to know the characters and David Haller defeating the Shadow King. This season continues that but far more in depth as well as figuring out if David is actually the hero of this story. There is a race going on to find the real body of the Shadow King fka Amahl Farouk. Our group is now located at Division 3 and it is being run by Admiral Fukyama who sits in a strange ass room with a basket on his head surrounded by three android lady folk that have mustaches. Everything is freaky!

The Review: The People V OJ Simpson

The People V OJ Simpson 9/10

If you hated OJ before The People V OJ Simpson you will hate him even more after watching. This aired on 2016 on FX but I watched this on Netflix. When I used to see ads for this I had no desire to watch it. I lived through the shit so there was no need to check this out. But Cam watched it and said that it was really good so I gave it a try and was happy I did. This stars Sterling K. Brown as Christopher Darden, Kenneth Choi as Judge Lance Ito, Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark, David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian, John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran, and Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson. Throughout this series I loved the acting and chemistry between Paulson and Brown. They were really fucking good. I also appreciated the show staying true to how people dressed and noticed that even on the freeway chase scene old cars were on the road. I pay attention to that kinda shit. One thing I did not like though was the budding relationship between the two of them. I doubt that really happened and it made me make cringy sounds.

The Review: Legion

Legion 10/10

I decided to take a small break from watching Ozark after this cute woman at work suggested I check out the FX series Legion. If a cute woman tells me to do something, be it watch a show or go to hell, I'll do it. I knew it existed and had zero interest in watching it. Some of the reasons why were because it was X-Men related and fuck that franchise (click here to read my bitching about it) and everything associated with it. Another was that the trailer did not make me interested in even checking out a single episode. I know who Legion is. He's Professor X's crazy ass son who tried to spend more time with his dad so he went back in time and tried to kill Magneto and ended up shooting his dad instead and fucked up the Marvel timeline meaning making it cooler. Why in the fuck would I want to watch a show about him?

Spoiler Alert: American Horror Story Freak Show "Monsters Among Us" Episode

I knew as soon as I found out that this new season of American Horror Story: Freak Show was gonna involve the circus that it would be honked up. Oh, they did not disappoint. The show starts off with the world's bravest milkman finding a dead body of an old lady and investigating. Investigating! He heads upstairs and starts screaming at something, or someone, he finds upstairs. Then we get the creepy ass new theme song.

In a hospital a patient is being kept secret. Elsa Mars play be Jessica Lange shows up and mesmerizes one of the nurses and heads into the room. She finds conjoined twins played by Sarah Paulson named Bette and Dot Tattler. Let me add that I love how this show uses the same characters but has them play different people so you can watch any season and not be left out. Elsa knows that the twins are hiding something. They can speak to each other telepathically and one is mean and the other too sweet. Or so it seems.

Spoiler Alert: The Strain "Night Zero" Episode

I finally got a chance to check out the new FX series The Strain based off of the series of books written by Chuck Hogan and Guillermo Del Toro. When I first heard that this was being made I got excited since I loved the books so much. I got even more excited when I saw that it was not going to be on network television. There are thirteen episodes planned so some of the things that happened in the first episode seemed like they could’ve waited a few more episodes before getting to them.

The premise of the show is that an airplane lands at the JFK airport with the lights all out and no one moving on it. Now, they spoon-fed this to the viewers by showing weird things happening on the plane first. An employee terrified that something was alive below the plane and seeing this door burst open didn’t need to happen. It was forgotten about anyway since when the plane was checked out no one said “Holy shit! This door was bent open!” Hey. A plane landing on the tarmac and looking dead is enough. 

10 Reasons Why You Should Have Watched Fargo

Before you even ask, yes, this will contain a lot of spoilers for the first season of the FX series Fargo. Kiyoshi posted something about the series and I said to myself “Oh, I heard an interview about this show and it seemed slightly interesting.” But then I hadn't heard anyone talking about this show and figured it couldn't be that good. “The Trailer Trap...” floated through my head. What TTT translates to is the fact that I've missed a lot of good things because the trailers for them looked terrible and they turned out to be good. So here is a list of reasons why you should be watching Fargo.

TV Slut: American Horror Story Season 2

If you feel like starting some brand new fetishes then by all means check out season two of American Horror Story: Asylum. Wow. This season was so honked up. Honestly, it took about four episodes for me to get completely on board with this season because I watched it so close to the first season, American Horror Story: Murder House, that it was hard for me to look at certain characters sympathetically. For instance, the kid Kit Walker (Evan Peters) that shot up his school in the first season is someone I am supposed to feel bad for in this season. It took a while before I could accept him as someone to feel bad for.

This season is about an asylum, Briarcliff Mental Institution, and the year is 1964. Its run by an evil ass nun named Sister Jude played by Jessica Lange. She is all about solitary, electroshock therapy, and just good old fashioned beating that ass in the name of the Lord. The patients at the place are controlled by her as well as the employees. She's not even close to someone I felt sorry for until way later in the season which caught me off guard.

TV Slut: Justified Season 1

About a week and a half ago Cam gave me this awesome ass Roku box. You can watch online things like Amazon and Netflix. Its awesome. So while trolling on it I found this show called Justified. I’d heard of it and seen billboards but I’m not that into Westerns so I ignored it. I decided to check it out, and surprise,  its not a damn Western. The star, Timothy Olyphant, just likes to wear a cowboy hat. This is a damn good show that I still have two more seasons to catch up on.

Olyphant stars as Raylan Givens who shoots a guy in Miami after giving him notice that he would if he didn’t leave town in twenty four hours. Well, he shoots the guy and ends up being sent back to his hometown where as soon as he gets there there’s all kind of drama going on.
