About a week and a half ago Cam gave me this awesome ass Roku box. You can watch online things like Amazon and Netflix. Its awesome. So while trolling on it I found this show called Justified. I’d heard of it and seen billboards but I’m not that into Westerns so I ignored it. I decided to check it out, and surprise, its not a damn Western. The star, Timothy Olyphant, just likes to wear a cowboy hat. This is a damn good show that I still have two more seasons to catch up on.
Olyphant stars as Raylan Givens who shoots a guy in Miami after giving him notice that he would if he didn’t leave town in twenty four hours. Well, he shoots the guy and ends up being sent back to his hometown where as soon as he gets there there’s all kind of drama going on.
Raylan shacks up with this chick Ava who just shot her abusive husband whose family is known for committing crimes for years. Her husbands brother Boyd gets out of jail and is gunning for her. Raylan and Boyd used to be close friends and Boyd saved his life when they worked in the mines when they were 19. Raylan became a law man and Boyd stuck with the family business of committing crime except he took it to a new level. As a White supremacist he uses a rocket launcher to blow up a Black church center. Raylan ends up putting a bullet in his chest later and he ends up finding God. No one believes him especially his evil ass father Bo.
Oh, hell. I almost forgot about Raylan’s father, Arlo. This dude is a son of a bitch. Raylan wants nothing to do with him but his job and the fact that the town is so small means that they will always cross paths. He lets his father know that he’ll put him back in jail as soon as he gets the chance. Everyone in his life is trouble in some form including his ex-wife who pushes and pulls him away constantly.
One problem I have is that so many woman on this show look the same. Well, except the cool Black chick Rachel Brooks played by Erica Tazel. Oh, and this guy I know from Sex & The City and Euro Trip named Jacob Pitts plays Tim Gutterson that rarely leaves the office but when he does his sniper skills are used. Its pretty damned awesome.
This show is really entertaining. Since its on FX there is plenty of cursing and violence. Everyone plays their part well. Normally with a show I’ll think that one or two people should be replaced but with this everyone is incredible. I finished this first season and have already started season two and so far so very good.
