Episode
2 “Civil Union”
Oh my
god this fucking show! I am just two episodes in and it is too much
for me to deal with! I just finished watching episode two of this
third season of Ozark and I have to talk about how great it is. Every
single moment matters. You can not have this on and do other things.
I couldn't even iron and watch this. I sat here and either had my
hands on my head or covering my mouth multiple times. The episode
starts off with this substitute teacher being ignored by his class
until one of the girls screams when she sees an image sent to her
phone. The teacher confronts the class before taking all their phones
and throwing them into a wood chipper outside and fighting the city
worker. I was like “Who is this man?” Then I found out later and
said “Oh, no...”
Marty
and Ruth head to the elder Cosgrove's place to apologize for Ruth
kicking his son in the nuts and throwing him off the casino boat.
Marty and Ruth say that his son said he was gonna rat them all out
for what Ruth did and he is like “I didn't say that!” Meanwhile
Helen has custody of her kids for the summer and her husband is like
“You get our daughter but if you keep our son we going to court.”
She later has this handled with an assault. It was pretty smooth and
Helen scares me. Every woman on this show scares me.
One
thing I didn't think about much is the effect that Buddy's death last
season would have on Marty and Wendy's son Jonah. That old man was
for sure his only friend. One day at the casino that teacher from the
start of the episode shows up. Ruth thinks he is sketchy as shit and
tells security to get him out. Turns out he is Ben, Wendy's crazy
brother. Oh, shit! He is now staying with the family and being weird
as fuck. Jonah asks his mother about Ben since he overheard his
parents saying they are worried that Jonah is like Ben. They bump
into Darlene and her baby in the parking lot. Every time Darlene is
on screen I wait for someone to die.
Wendy
wants to buy this other casino from another couple to launder the
cartel money. She convinces the wife but Marty on the side is getting
the husband not to and they pass on the deal which is not a good
thing. Seriously, there is no right way to handle this. Marty ends up
having Cosgrove's men sabotage the fireworks at a rival casino of the
folks across the way from the couple Wendy wants to buy meanwhile
Wendy and Ruth, taking some initiative, use a computer to make all
their machines give out jackpots forcing the couple to lose a fuck
ton of money really fast.
While
Wendy and Helen are celebrating Marty gets a visit from the FBI who
are like “Hey, you got another casino. Cool. The FBI thinks that is
super interesting. We're gonna set up camp here.” As Marty shows
this to Wendy her brother Ben comes running out the house butt naked
to jump in the lake. Two episodes in and I can not begin to imagine
how insane this is gonna get. I didn't even mention that Marty installed SpyWare on Wendy's phone and has been listening to her talks with Helen and the cartel...
