The Review: Paradise Season 2

Paradise Season 2 (2/10)

Okay. This is gonna have all the spoilers. The first season of this was incredible. I was telling everyone to watch this because it was such an amazing series and L and I got hype when we saw a prop during a studio tour knowing a second season was coming. Well, they could have kept it because this was booty. I have concerns, complaints, and conundrums. I have all the C's! How could a show go from being one of the best pure seasons of television to whatever the fuck it became. The more I sit on this the worst it gets (ha!) so let me just get this out of my system before I piss myself off more. I am gonna do this episode by episode otherwise it will make even less sense than it did.

The Review: Peacemaker Season 2

Peacemaker Season 2 (6/10)

Full disclosure: if this had ended with episode seven I would have given this a 9/10. The finale was so all over the place that it ruined what was a pretty good season if I don't stop and think about certain things. The story felt like it was rushed towards the end when they could have stayed in the multiverse portion for longer and examined that world more. Vigilante was the standout performer this season. Other just wore on me and what was once funny became annoying. Adebayo talked different than before. Not sure how to explain it but she sounded...off. This season had a couple of touching moments and genuine great acting on the part of Peacemaker but then it was like “Fuck that this is now a pilot for some other shit that's planned!” And the many music montages wore my ass out quick. I'm not clamoring for another season of this or wondering where it could go. There is a certain type of storytelling I think I am outgrowing and this fits into it (along with Gen-V which I won't bother even writing about). Not superhero stuff. Just certain types of superhero stuff.

The Review: My Adventures With Superman

 

My Adventures With Superman 7/10

This cartoon managed to do something that every Superman cartoon and film have failed at: make Clark Kent interesting. Hell, they made Lois and Jimmy interesting! I'm serious, that is something that every other version of this could not do. If that new movie manages this elusive task I will leave the theater happy. This is the beginning of Superman's career as a hero and at The Daily Planet. Lois is also new as well as Jimmy. Clark struggles with new powers that just keep on happening (electrical ones, freezing scream) and figuring out his past as a Kryptonian and believing he was sent to take over the planet for his alien race.

The Review: Interview With The Vampire Part 2

Interview With The Vampire Part II 10/10

Hey. Listen. Hey. Okay. Watch this show. Season one was incredible and I gave it a 10/10. I have to do the same with this one because not only was it just as good but it may possibly be even better? Yeah. I think it was better. L. and I waited for this to come on every Sunday and got to the point where we ordered AMC+ just to watch the finale commercial free. The acting, clothing, story, scenes, just everything about this show is good and I have zero complaints. The even replaced Claudia and I didn't mind. I actually prefer this new one to the old. The fact that they managed to make this so interesting with minimum Lestat is a testament to how good the writing on this show is. This season starts off after the murder of Lestat with Louis and Claudia traveling Europe.

The Review: Outer Range Season 2

I really struggled coming up with a score for this season. The more I sat on it after finishing with L. a couple of weeks ago the lower the score dropped. Some of it has to do with timelines and time travel not being explained. On top of all of that this is an Amazon series and there is no guarantee that there will be a third season to possibly answer any question I have. I can't write this as a straight up review so this will be more of me asking questions and trying to answer them myself without looking things up. This is gonna be a mess.

The Review: Reacher Season 2

Reacher Season Two 10/10

I fucking love this show. What I like most about it is that when a season ends even if they didn't bring it back (they are though!) there aren't any lingering questions. Besides, you could just read the books as well. They're very good and will make you hate the Tom Cruise movies. This season starts off with a man being tossed from a helicopter. I was like “That's a hell of a way to go.” Meanwhile Reacher is in a small town about to use an ATM and while waiting a nervous woman is in front of him. He talks to her and is told that she has her son in the car and a man with a gun is having her withdraw money. Reacher beats this man like a drum and them heads back to the ATM and sees a secret message on his receipt. Neagley (who is one of the coolest characters on television right now) knows that Reacher has no house, phone, or way to get in touch with him so she used military codes for assistance needed.

The Review: 30 Coins Season 2

30 Coins Season 2 (10/10)

You crazy if you think I have the mental capacity to recap a show like 30 Coins. The first season was insane and the second one made it seem like a fun day at a playground by comparison. Every single episode had L. and I yelling at the TV and disgusted by something strange. You want me to try and describe some of the show. Priests get brought back as decomposing zombies. Hell looks like the least fun place ever. A lady gives birth to a crab monster. God and Satan are the same person. A guy gets flattened like a pancake by magic. Alternate dimensions. A damn spaceship! Just so much crazy shit happens that even when I wanted to recap this weekly I knew I couldn't so after finishing the show months ago I know that right now I can't even make an attempt. I think more people need to be watching this. I need there to be a season three right now. This is an incredible show with great acting, writing, and set design.

I have not read the books nor do I plan to. I need to get that out of the way because I have learned from being exposed to this crazy ass world or these stories that people get real angry with the differences between the book and the series. I'm just a random Black dude that watches an assload of TV and weird shit.

The Review: Schmigadoon Season 2

Schmigadoon Season 2 (9/10)

Trying to do some late reviews so this will be short. This was a damn good show. L. and I absolutely enjoyed the first season and I was kinda worried about how the next would follow it up. Turns out I was concerned for nothing because this one was funny as hell. The first season had style and music based on musicals from the 1940's and 1950's while this one had the 60's and 70's. Josh and Melissa are trying to have a child and just going through life unhappy after their time in Schmigadoon and decide that they should try to go back. They eventually make their way back but it is now very different from when they were last around and it is seedy as hell and known as Schmicago. The same cast of people are around but playing different roles and the introduction of the Narrator made this season even better.

The Review: Lupin Season 2

Lupin Season Two 4/10

I enjoyed the first season of Lupin more but what I once thought was clever became annoying. Netflix is starting to do this thing where they run a series into the ground using what makes it cute. It would be like telling someone you like a shirt they wear so they put on three at once. They did this with Who Killed Sara? as well. The cliffhangers went from “I can't wait to see what happens next!” to knowing that they were being predictable. With Lupin he does things that seem impossible and then they show a flashback showing how it was all done. That was cute last season. Now its a trope and annoying. I get him being smart an' shit but I realized that all of his plans depend on everyone around him being stupid.

The Review: Who Killed Sara? Season 2

Who Killed Sara Season Two DONE/10

I gave season one of Who Killed Sara? a MESSY/10 but if I had to give it a number score it would've been an 8/10. This one deserves a 1/10 in the most retroactive of ways. It is so rare that an entire season that is not bad but confusing as hell (much like the first one at times) can in the last thirty seconds ruin the previous two seasons as well as make me uninterested in the next one they threaten us with. I am legitimately having trouble trying to even explain everything that happened because they got super liberal with the use of flashbacks.

The Review: Harley Quinn Season 1 & 2

Harley Quinn 8/10

This cartoon was funny as fuck. I had seen clips of the Harley Quinn series and was confused because I hadn't heard that it was coming out or anything in 2019 or that there was a whole 'nother season that aired. Whoever was in charge of advertising needs help because I be knowing all kinda random ass comic shows that come out or will be. This series is the best representation of Harley Quinn I have ever seen even when she is aggravating as hell with her desire to keep running to Joker. That is something a cartoon very rarely even has the ability to do. After leaving him she decides that she wants to outshine him and get her own gang. No one really wants to join her and she loses connections when people find out she isn't with Joker anymore. She eventually gathers her own crew.

The Review: The Mandalorian Season 2

I fucking love this show. This will be full of random spoilers. By now everyone knows that I did not grow up as a fan of Star Wars (click here for my first season review full of links) and just within the last month of so watched the latest of the newer films. I know little random things about the universe from YouTube videos that explain stuff which came in helpful for this season since it touches on a lot of stuff that comes from animated shows I didn't watch. I'm kind of glad because while watching this show I didn't have any preconceived ideas of what I thought should or even could happen so everything was a surprise to me.

"Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker"

Another crazy ass episode with a lot of stuff happening. I would have been screwed if I tried to cover this whole season with one post when it finished. This starts with a guy that worships the Supes. He wakes up, goes on walks, watches TV, and he is just filled with nothing but propaganda about how it is up to people to stop super terrorists. One day at the store he sees a guy and thinks he saw light in his eyes. He builds up the courage and pulls a gun on the guy asking if he is a super terrorist and if he is bullet proof. He shoots the guy in the face killing him. Meanwhile Homelander and Stormfront are at a rally saying they need more Supes to fight for America. Stormfront sees her grand-daughter and gets a sad face. Homelander is like “Lemme show ya somethin'!” I was like “Aw, fuck.” They end up heading to Becca's place where he introduces Stormfront as his new girlfriend and he wants her to be friends with his son Ryan. Becca knows that this can not end well in any way.

"The Bloody Doors Off"

This episode was full of so much information and gives some backstory to characters we have heard of and ones we thought we knew. I need to mention that this episode jumps back and forth with time so trying to write this in order ain't gonna happen. Frenchie is shown with his old crew eight years ago doing drugs. He is dating a guy and the lady we've met before. He gets caught by Mallory because he is good at stealing and mixing chemicals that are effective even against Supes. She says she will stop him and his friends from going to prison if he helps. He is skeptical but the shit works. She, Mother's Milk, and Butcher blackmail Lamplighter after making fun of his ass. Apparently he looks good in lace. Frenchie is told to tail Lamplighter on the night that he murdered Mallory's children.

The Review: Doom Patrol Season 2

Doom Patrol Season Two 6/10

Full of spoilers. I finished the second season of Doom Patrol. I normally cover each episode but since I watched so many in clumps I am gonna just talk about the characters and how I felt about them by the end of the season. I broke them down into categories of good, okay, and ugly. This season was a roller coaster. I rated this one lower than the previous season because there was a lot of time wasted on some uninteresting characters or some characters, by the time the season ended, were right back where they started and any character growth they experience meant nothing. Some story aspects were straight up just forgotten about. CK told me that there is a third season coming and that shit better be incredible every single episode to make up for this one. I almost don't care if it continues or not. It made the same mistake that Umbrella Academy did in its second season where I can only watch people fuck up with no progress for so long.

The Review: Doom Patrol S2E5

"Finger Patrol"

This is the problem with binge watching. I was about to write about episode seven and forgot I watched five and six. Rita heads to an audition and ends up finding out that it is about the day she turned into a blob monster and destroyed the town. Larry has to head to his dead sons place and help clean it out. Its a whole thing that goes very sideways later. Cliff and Vic go to visit Vic's...girlfriend. Seriously. This relationship is a terrible idea and not an interesting story at all which sucks because Vic surprisingly had a really good story last season. This isn't even a “Let's give him a lighthearted story this season!” situation. As much as I enjoy this show as soon as his girlfriend appears on the scream I go “Ugh...” because that means I have to watch the same conversation happen again.

The Review: The Boys S2E3

"Over The Hill With The Swords Of A Thousand Men"

Homelander is scary. I have discovered that nothing is scarier than Homelander being at your kitchen table with no intention of leaving. This bastard is pretending that he knows how to be people and hanging out at Becca's place and trying to be a family. She wants absolutely none of it. He brings his son Ryan onto the roof and tells him to jump. Ryan is like “I can't fly, dad” and Homelander is like “Aw, you called me dad.” Then he shoves him off the roof. Becca rushes out and it turns out Ryan is fine. Homelander says of course because he is his son. Becca goes off on Homelander and he grabs her wrist. Ryna shoves him to the ground and his eyes laser up! Becca takes him inside and Homelander's weird ass if all proud.

The Review: The Boys S2E2

"Proper Preparation and Planning"

I have completed the first three episodes of The Boys that have been released and am so damned happy they didn't put them all out at once since I am re-watching season one with CK and letting her know when not to look at the screen. This show graphic as fuck but I still want her to be able to enjoy it because the acting, story, and style of the show is incredible. Butcher heads to Raynor's funeral (she got her head blown up) and meets with Grace. She is the lady that recruited him and sent him after Homelander and told him what happened to Becca his wife. She tells Butcher that if he can bring in the loose super terrorist that she can tell him where Becca is. He tries to recall where he was when he saw her at the house with a kid and can't recall much.
