The Review: The Long Walk

The Long Walk 3/10

This is not going to be very long because I don't have too much to say about a movie that has such a basic plot. I ended up splitting this into two parts because I was waiting for it to improve and it just did not because the movie is what it is: a long walk. So the basic premise is that 50 boys from every state in America are picked and they have to keep a pace of three miles an hour and if they go slower than that after a few warnings they are shot and killed. The reason they are doing this is because the winner gets to make a wish. The story mainly focuses on one of the kids and I think the biggest surprise of this movie was how it ended. I believe I would have enjoyed this more if I had seen previous winners and/or what they receive for their wish. I wonder what is not allowed as a wish. I wonder what happens if you don't make a wish. How long until you have to make a wish? I didn't know enough about the characters or the history of this program to really care so when it ended I just shrugged. It is just “Hi, my name is Victim 12! I am gonna wish for money! Ow! My foot hurt!” Bang!!! This could have been a segment on a anthology series.

The Review: Good Boy

Good Boy 7/10

So last week L and I watched three movies. I watched one that she had already seen before. Out of all of them this was my favorite one. This is about a dog named Indy. All I knew about this movie was that it was a ghost story told through the perspective of a dog. I had already seen a movie that I really liked that was told through the perspective of a ghost so I was interested on how they were going to do this one. So there's this dude named Todd and we don't even see his face until the end of the movie that has a lung disease. For the longest time I thought he was a drug addict or something. Turns out that's not the case. The movie starts off with him just sitting up on his couch bleeding and this poor dog just staring at him until Todd's sister shows up and he goes to a hospital.

The Review: Highest 2 Lowest

Highest 2 Lowest DNF/10

L and I watched this. Well we tried. Made it half an hour until she started letting me know where the story was headed and we made the decision to stop watching knowing there was two more hours to go. David King runs a music business that is failing but he wants to bet on himself. Literally. Fuck having a wife and child and a ton of expenses. “Hey, honey. Sold everything to have major share in my company. Byyyye!” His wife looks considerably younger than him which was jarring. Looked up age differences and he is about my parents age while she is close to my younger cousins age. Basic story is son gets kidnapped and ransomed but wrong kid is taken and he is like “Not my boy so, pffft!” but its his friends son. We read rest of take and glad I didn't finish this. The music was annoying as hell and long. People were acting all over the place. Some stage acting. Others movie acting. Some like a telenovella. Heavy handed dialogue and camera usage. Just a bummer of a movie.

The Review: Ballerina

Ballerina 2/10

Spoilers. I really don't have all that much to say about this movie. I watched it yesterday and it felt like I was just watching people practice for an action film is a really expensive way. All the effects and such were there but this story just felt so...blah. I am not sure why I didn't connect to the character of Eve because I like the actress that played her. I liked a lot of the people in this. But in the end it just felt like a cash grab just riding off the tailcoat of John Wick who even shows up in this and if not for his help and mercy the main character would have died. I should mention the story. Little girl dad gets killed and she escapes and grows up for revenge hunting a group only to find out that her father was one of them and so is she. Oh, and her sister she thought was dead is alive. It felt more like a made for Netflix movie with a good budget. Like, this should be good or at least cool. Every fight scene felt too “dancey.” For example as much as I love the OG Mortal Kombat movie some of them fights seemed like they were counting until the next move. I didn't buy Eve as this bad ass fighting machine. Just lucky everyone is a bad shot.

The Review: Wake Up Dead Man

Wake Up Dead Man 9/10

One of the last things L and I watched was this movie. I enjoyed Knives Out a lot and Glass Onion as well. I liked this one but with each of these movies have trouble trying to talk about it. Not because of spoilers but I have trouble writing about detective stuff so this is gonna be short even though it has an incredible cast and a story that was so insane that there was no way in hell I could solve this mystery. Hell, even at one point Blanc was like “I don't know how to figure this out!” A priest that used to box but killed a man in the ring gets sent to a church with a reverend Wick. He is a wild asshole. The people that stay in his church are all weird and want something from him. During service Wick is stabbed to death and later emerges from his mausoleum like some damned miracle.

The Review: Anaconda

Anaconda 8/10

L and I watched this crazy ass movie for some reason. My cousin said it was funny so I was willing to give it a try. This group of friends decide to make a movie after watching one they made as children. Doug wanted to be a director and is currently making wedding announcement videos that are too weird for his customers. Ronald is an extra in TV shows and not happy. Kenny is the camera man who loves the drinking and drugs. Claire is their actress and currently a lawyer. Ronald says that he bought the rights to the Anaconda movie franchise and they decide to head to Brazil and make a movie. There is also a side story with this lady named Ana that is a freedom fighter. Right?

The Review: Dead of Winter

Dead Of Winter 7/10

I don't even recall why or how me and my lady started watching this movie on HBO. It started off slow but when it got going it got going hard. Then we forgot about it with half an hour left and finished it weeks later. That happens sometimes when between the two of us we watch a lot of TV and such. This movie is about this lady named Barb (find that out way later) that is heading out to this old fishing hole that she and her late husband used to go to and had their first date. She is driving and the weather is ass and she spots a place to ask for some help. She sees a guy and notices that there is blood on the ground after asking for directions. When she leaves and finds the fishing hole she sees this young girl with her hands tied trying to get away from the dude. He snatches her and leaves.

The Review: Predator Badlands

Predator Badlands 6/10

I finally was able to check out this movie. I have enjoyed this strange renaissance that Predator as a character has had. From movies to an animated series people have finally realized that you can do so much with this clicky bastard because you aren't tied down to one timeline or even planet. So this is about Dek. He a runt and his father wants him dead. Dek's brother Kwei wants to protect him but father is like “Kill his weak ass.” Kwei throws Dek onto a ship and sends it off as he is killed by his father. These creatures do not play. Dek heads to get this creature and bring it back to prove he belongs. I shit you not, before he even lands on the planet its trying to kill him. Flying things attack him first. He lands on the ground and trees attack him. The grass cuts him. Flowers shoot darts. Fuck this place.

The Review: Frankenstein/The Vince Staples Show/Fallout Season 2

I watched a few movies and TV shows over the last few weeks and have been not writing reviews like I should so I am gonna cram them all into this one post. Okay? Good. Now lets get started.

Frankenstein 9/10

This movie was great and I wish I had seen it in theaters but since it was on Netflix they had it in theaters for a few weeks. My lady watched this and knew I would like it but I dragged my ass to watch. I did and it made me remember how much I like Guillermo del Toro and the way he does everything. From music, scenery, acting, writing, directing. The man is amazing. I admittedly do not give a damn about Frankenstein but this movie made me like the portrayal. From the way the story was told from Victor's point of view and acting like the victim to the monsters side of things. This was a very good movie and worth watching. Would have made my best of 2025 list for sure.

The Review: Black Phone 2

Black Phone 2 (9/10)

This was a really good movie. After watching the first movie years ago and then more recently with my lady we found out that they were making a sequel which was confusing considering how the first movie ended. How in the hell could they begin to make another one? Turns out they could make a very good one. This takes place four years after the last movie in the early 80s. Finney is an angry ass kicker now. His dead friend Robin's brother Ernesto likes Finney's sister and invites her to a show. Finney's sister Gwen is having dreams about old murders happening in the woods from the 1950s. Gwen signs up as a camp counselor in training after discovering that her mother worked there when she was younger. Finney wants no part of this but decides to go. Its a super Christian camp. They get through this crazy ass storm and arrive. There are no kids there because of the snow storm.

The Review: Nobody 2

Nobody 2 (4/10)

Everything that made me enjoy the first Nobody movie is why I didn't like this sequel. It didn't need to happen. It felt almost beat for beat like the first film. I was jokingly saying to myself that “I bet there is some violent Home Alone trap at the end.” There was. This movie wasn't horrible or anything but I don't think it should have been made without some new ideas or a better story because the first movie was very entertaining. I just know that they will make another one of these with the same story except more than his wife will get involved. Meh.

The Review: Bugonia

Bugonia 8/10

All of the spoilers! Me and my lady watched this movie the other day. I didn't really know anything except a lady gets kidnapped and on the bus ads she looked greasy. This weird ass movie was super good. This starts off with this CEO named Michelle Fuller who runs a pharmaceutical place starting her day exercising, fight training, and jogging before heading to work and speaking corporate jargon. She did not come across as very likable. Just...there. We then head on over to Teddy and his cousin Don. They are beekeepers and training for something as well. Something sinister. Teddy won't stop talking about conspiracies and such and sounds way too much like people you can easily find online. He says an alien race known as Andromedans are killing the bees and forcing humanity into servitude.

The Review: The Old Guard 2

The Old Guard 2 (1/10)

I saw the first movie. It was fine. This one? This did not need to be made. I am not gonna recap this because this could have been the first maybe 20 minutes of the film but they had footage from the locations they filmed in and damn it they were gonna sue them. The team minus the traitor are tracking an arms dealer. The lady mentioned in the first movie is pulled from the sea and wants to destroy all humans. The oldest immortal is no longer immortal. Andy is still not immortal until she is because traitor man. Woman that was focus of first film is relegated to background character until she is needed to forward paper thin story. Fight scenes for no reason. Music nothing to write home about. This was just terrible in every sense. And then they have the nerve to threaten me with another sequel?! Hell no! This needs to just fade away.

The Review: All Her Fault

All Her Fault 10/10

This show had me and my lady in a headlock! She mentioned hearing about it and that it was good so we decided to check it out and within the first few minutes we had our jaws on the floor. The premise sounds simple: family has son that was kidnapped and they try to find him. No. This show has so much more than that and I want everyone to watch it but since its on Peacock maybe two people I know will have access to it. That is what sucks about that channel. They have like two good things a year you wanna watch and Olympics.

The Review: 24k Christmas/The Christmas Campaign

24k Christmas DNF/10

This movie was ass and me and my lady stopped about halfway through and didn't even bother finishing it. This lady makes jewelry and gets set up on a blind date. She belittles the guy with her clumsy ass and leaves him. He comes to her jewelry shop to pick up the rings for his friends wedding but she lost them because clumsy. Who gets married on Christmas Eve anyway? That is so inconsiderate to guests! They go searching for the rings and can't find them. We gave up because the lady was horrible which is a thing that these Christmas movies do now. They make women pretty (questionable) but with a shitty attitude for whatever reason but the guy still chases them down and they end up together. The end.

Best And Worst Of 2025

2025 was a year of things either being incredible or terrible. There were also some disappointments. I made this list of ten of the best things from this year and five of the worst. There were way more bad ones but I didn't want to make this a top twenty worst, because, yeah. Lot of stinkers. Gonna start with the best. You agree with me? Don't matter. Its my blog. Click the title of each of these to see my long review and ratings.

The Review: It Welcome To Derry Finale

It Welcome To Derry Finale 10/10

Holy crap this was an amazing series! Eight episodes and not one of them dragged or was useless which is how any show that isn't some twenty-something episode long series should be. Not one could be skipped. Damn. This starts off with a thick fog rolling across Derry and everyone like “What's happening here? Except this one woman that is smiling all creepy like Pennywise. The military and their dumb asses are watching from their base tracking what is going down but doing nothing because this is what they wanted!

The Review: It Welcome To Derry Episode 7

It Welcome To Derry Episode 7

Well...shit. This was an incredible episode that broke my lady and thousands of others online. First it starts off with Bob Gray aka Pennywise the Clown minus the evil alien monster inside of him. Just a single father performing a live show for the children. The kids rush the stage after he is done. His daughter, who we know as Ingrid , says the kids loved the show which they did. Ingrid shows up in a clown costume of her own to surprise her father. He names her Periwinkle which is turns out was her mothers name. Also, later looking at the image from his sad show I noticed that the paintings on the wall were of his late wife. Later that night while smoking and drinking this kid emerges from the woods like “Kids like you.” Then there is a scream and the kid says its his mother. Bob Gray and the kid head into the woods. Later while looking for her father the carnival people hand Ingrid his bloody handkerchief that was found in the woods.

The Review: Fake Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

Fake Yourself A Merry Little Christmas 2/10

This weekend my lady and I watched this movie. I didn't like it because of what I mentioned in my last post: thinking someone didn't deserve a happy ending. This lady Maya who is a teacher plans on spending the holidays alone since her mother is with her new man and meeting their family. She goes shopping and sees a guy she thinks is cute. She ends up dropping her phone and he picks it up. He heads outside to hand it to her and slips on some ice and is knocked out cold. He ends up in a coma and when she is in the waiting room with her terrible friend it turns out that the knocked out man's doctor is her ex boyfriend. Her best friend for no reason says that Maya is dating the unconscious man. Now everything is downhill from here. By the way, these OWN and Hallmark movies make it impossible to find images to use.

The Review: Christmas In The Clouds

Christmas In The Clouds 6/10

Still on the holiday train with my lady and I am starting to pick up this theme of where I don't like the main character and think they don't deserve a happy ending. This is about Ella Neezer (get it?!?!) who is a CEO that no one likes. The people that work for her are being forced to work on Christmas because she didn't like their presentation while she hops on a plane to Australia with her assistant Bobbi who has a son who has movie asthma. Movie asthma is that kinda asthma where the kid can just cough and die at any moment. As she gets on the plane she ends up sitting across the aisle from her former fiancé, Jake. Awkwaaaaaaard.
