The Review: The Boys Season 5

The Boys Season 5 (1/10)

Spoilers I guess. I have been trying to figure out how to do a review for this last season of The Boys for over a week now. I kind of forgot the new season was starting and was able to watch half the season in one day and had no feelings towards it. This started as a parody of many superhero movies/TV shows and ended up becoming a parody of itself. I enjoyed the previous ones so much but felt that it couldn't continue for much longer. The break in between seasons along with that terrible series Gen-V did not help. I watched this and saw people I had seen for years feel as if they were pretending to be those characters again and it felt just flat to me. People died and I felt nothing. Others survived and felt nothing. This was just a bland ass time for me. Even deaths I had waited years for didn't make me cheer or anything. I just went “Okay.” For those that wanna know who died here they are. Homelander (killed by Butcher after being depowered by Kimiko who has Soldier Boy's abilities), Butcher (shot by Hughie after being depowered by Kimiko and planning to still kill all supes), A-Train (killed by Homelander), The Deep (killed by sea life), Black Noir 2 (killed by The Deep), Frenchie (killed by uranium and Homelander), and Firecracker (killed by Homelander).

The Review: Frankenstein/The Vince Staples Show/Fallout Season 2

I watched a few movies and TV shows over the last few weeks and have been not writing reviews like I should so I am gonna cram them all into this one post. Okay? Good. Now lets get started.

Frankenstein 9/10

This movie was great and I wish I had seen it in theaters but since it was on Netflix they had it in theaters for a few weeks. My lady watched this and knew I would like it but I dragged my ass to watch. I did and it made me remember how much I like Guillermo del Toro and the way he does everything. From music, scenery, acting, writing, directing. The man is amazing. I admittedly do not give a damn about Frankenstein but this movie made me like the portrayal. From the way the story was told from Victor's point of view and acting like the victim to the monsters side of things. This was a very good movie and worth watching. Would have made my best of 2025 list for sure.

The Review: War Of The Worlds (2025)

War Of The Worlds -1/10

Oh, my god. I heard this movie was bad but didn't expect this level of bad. Miss Jackie made it 11 minutes. The poster is 95% of the movie. I slowly fast forwarded 20 minutes because it was just bad acting staring into the screen. This terrible father sits at work spying on people including his pregnant daughter and his son. When I say spying I mean he live tracks her and even hacker into her fridge to judge how she eats. She doesn't even invite him to her baby shower. He doesn't listen to shit his son says. A lady send shim some footage from all around the world showing weather than if I saw it in Africa my ass is worried in California. He like “I only watch people. Not the weather!” So his pregnant daughter who is a genius runs outside and stares at the aliens and gets a rod through her leg and has a baby. His son is a hacker he has been hunting and he found him using a program you can download for free to change your voice.

The Review: House Of David

House Of David 9/10

Let me start this off by saying I don't know nothing about the bible. I know basic stuff. My lady would say that is wrong because I have timelines and everything all off. Like, with this series, House of David, I had no idea what David did other than kill Goliath with a slingshot. That is literally it. I had no idea he had a life outside of that. So, now with that information this entire series was surprising to me and had my dumb ass sitting here saying “No spoilers!” to someone who went to church all the time regarding a tale that is thousands of years old.

The Review: The Wheel of Time Season 3

The Wheel Of Time Season 3 (4/10)

I am back again with another review of this show that this season managed to piss off book readers as well as fans of the show. There is also that group of people that fan-fiction the hell out of characters and want to see people fuck on screen but can't the way they imagine so they draw them. I looked at my previous reviews of this series and gave season one and season two 9/10. That for fucking sure not happening this season especially considering my favorite episode focused on one main character. Gonna do this like last season and write something about each character that I feel like writing about. This season introduced way too many new ass people and subplots and managed not to really get all that much done. And again, have not touched one of the books and don't plan to. I watch Youtube videos to find answers to questions. Get over it.

The Review: My Adventures With Superman

 

My Adventures With Superman 7/10

This cartoon managed to do something that every Superman cartoon and film have failed at: make Clark Kent interesting. Hell, they made Lois and Jimmy interesting! I'm serious, that is something that every other version of this could not do. If that new movie manages this elusive task I will leave the theater happy. This is the beginning of Superman's career as a hero and at The Daily Planet. Lois is also new as well as Jimmy. Clark struggles with new powers that just keep on happening (electrical ones, freezing scream) and figuring out his past as a Kryptonian and believing he was sent to take over the planet for his alien race.

The Review: The Caped Crusader

 

Batman The Caped Crusader 9/10

I didn't even know this show existed because Amazon just doesn't care sometimes. This should have been on Max because at least they show you new animated shows. I found about this from listening to a podcast and they raved about it. I was hesitant to check it out because there have been so many versions of Batman since the one I loved in the 90s. I would race home from school to catch it and even talk to friends on the phone while it aired. I was shocked when within minutes of watching this I was into it. The animation style. The voice work. The change of characters was surprising and didn't feel forced. Like, Penguin is a mother with children. Gordon and his daughter Barbara are Black. Alfred is younger. Just a lot of changes that were cool.

The Review: The Boys Season 4

The Boys Season 4 (9/10)

Full of all the spoilers. I enjoyed the hell out of this season. The only reason I did not give it a 10/10 is because there were a few deux ex machina type situations that happened where I went “Okay, that was weird.” Still, shocked that four seasons in I was still looking forward to watching this each week so much. 

The Review: Outer Range Season 2

Outer Range Season 2 (6/10)

I really struggled coming up with a score for this season. The more I sat on it after finishing with L. a couple of weeks ago the lower the score dropped. Some of it has to do with timelines and time travel not being explained. On top of all of that this is an Amazon series and there is no guarantee that there will be a third season to possibly answer any question I have. I can't write this as a straight up review so this will be more of me asking questions and trying to answer them myself without looking things up. This is gonna be a mess.

The Review: The Five Heartbeats

 

The Five Heartbeats 8/10

L. got me to watch Black movie that I had never seen. I have heard of this movie and seen random references to it but never had a strong desire to check this out. Turns out I really enjoyed it. This is about a former singing group called The Heartbeats. There is Duck, his older brother JT, Dresser, Choirboy, and Eddie King Jr. I mention his government name because this man is a problem. All of them are but in different ways. This starts off with Duck looking at a magazine cover asking whatever happened to various musicians from back in the day. We flashback to the group losing a talent show to a weird ass band. A manager named Jimmy shows up and says he will pay them $100 if they don't win the next show. They lose and he coughs up the cash and his wife is like “We are not going through this again.” Turns out he has been betrayed in the past in the music industry. They agree to let him manage them after the clubs owner wants them.

The Review: Fallout

Fallout 9/10

This was a damn good show. I know about the Fallout video games and watched a play through of one of them years ago, but have no attachment to whether or not it is similar to the game in terms of characters or anything. From shows I listen to you do not have to have any knowledge of the game to enjoy this. It starts off with this guy named Cooper Howard. He is a cowboy at a kids birthday party being mocked by some of the adults there. His daughter Janey is there with him. She asks why he didn't want to do a thumbs up like the men asked for photos and he eventually tells her it relates to seeing explosion sizes in the distance. Minute later as everyone ignores the news of the president in hiding and nuclear threats she spots a huge smoke cloud in the distance. They witness an explosive shockwave and run away on a horse while the neighbors fight one another for bomb shelter space.

The Review: Reacher Season 2

Reacher Season Two 10/10

I fucking love this show. What I like most about it is that when a season ends even if they didn't bring it back (they are though!) there aren't any lingering questions. Besides, you could just read the books as well. They're very good and will make you hate the Tom Cruise movies. This season starts off with a man being tossed from a helicopter. I was like “That's a hell of a way to go.” Meanwhile Reacher is in a small town about to use an ATM and while waiting a nervous woman is in front of him. He talks to her and is told that she has her son in the car and a man with a gun is having her withdraw money. Reacher beats this man like a drum and them heads back to the ATM and sees a secret message on his receipt. Neagley (who is one of the coolest characters on television right now) knows that Reacher has no house, phone, or way to get in touch with him so she used military codes for assistance needed.

The Review: The Horrors Of Dolores Roach

The Horrors Of Dolores Roach 9/10

So over a month ago Cam told me about this show on Amazon (they tend to hide their best shows by the way) called The Horrors Of Dolores Roach. I watched the first episode with her and was very much intrigued. But then as the weeks went by and I was watching all my other shows and movies and such I kept saying to myself that I need to finish the show and watch it and kept putting it off and then finally within one day I watched the last seven episodes. Each episode is half an hour or less so it really flies by.

This is about this lady named Dolores who gets out of prison after doing sixteen years after taking the fall for her drug dealing boyfriend Dominic. So when she returns home to Washington Heights the entire neighborhood looks completely different. The only place that looks the same is this empanada shop and it's run by this guy who when she went into prison was a young boy named Luis. He ends up letting her stay with him because she has no place to go. She has no friends around, no one in the neighborhood can help her, and nobody wants to hire her because she just did sixteen years in prison for selling drugs and assaulting a police officer. She ends up giving him a massage one day and he tells her how great she is. She we find out that she learned how to give massages from a lady in prison who did not have hands. It's very odd.

The Review: Gen V

Gen V 9/10

This is going to be full of spoilers. I checked out that show Gen V on Amazon which is a spin-off of The Boys. This show is just as crazy intense and at times gross as The Boys. If you are a fan of that series in the previous three seasons it has you should like this show. What I like is that these kids do not think these are god given abilities and know that at some point their parents, for whatever reason, had their children pumped full of chemicals for cash.

The Review: The Wheel of Time Season 2

I have not read the books nor do I plan to. I need to get that out of the way because I have learned from being exposed to this crazy ass world or these stories that people get real angry with the differences between the book and the series. I'm just a random Black dude that watches an assload of TV and weird shit.

The Review: I'm A Virgo

I'm A Virgo 10/10

I absolutely loved this damn series. Cam randomly suggested it and we plowed through the first four episodes before I finished the rest the next day. If you one of those people that needs explanations for everything you see then this show will make your head hurt. A lady leaves the hospital with a baby that is about my size now, names him Cootie, and she and her husband are raising him at home. Turns out she is his aunt and they hide him from the world. As he gets older he begins to crave the outside world. His aunt and uncle show him what happens to giants when they are discovered which gives him nightmares. Of course he gets discovered by some kids in his neighborhood and they introduce him to the world of fast food, fame, and women. Meanwhile there is a superhero that is bigoted as hell literally flying around. Its a lot.

The Review: John Wick Chapter 4

John Wick Chapter Four 9/10

I have enjoyed all of the John Wick films. I finally watched the latest one after missing it in theaters and while I did enjoy it a lot I am glad that I got to watch it from home and have the ability to pause it and hoot and holler. This movie is long. I know I love long films and everybody who knows me knows that when I go to the movies I like when a film is two hours or more because it feels like I am getting my money's worth. But when you are watching a man shoot and kill so many people it starts to get physically and mentally exhausting just watching. If this had been about half an hour shorter it would have been a 10/10. I did like the introduction of some of the new characters such as Mr. Nobody and Caine. But my God ,when this was over I was happy. And I was also happy to see the extra little scene that they threw in during the credits. We watched this on Amazon. I doubt that I will watch this again in full and might just look up different fight scenes from it. One complaint I really do have other than the length of this film is the fact that the main villains and these movies tend to die the fastest and suffer the least amount.

The Review: Paper Girls

Paper Girls 8/10

There was this show called Paper Girls that Miss Jackie told me about. When I read the premise I did not think that I would be even kind of interested in this but after the first episode I knew I was going to plow through this show. It came out in July of last year on Amazon but this show got absolutely no advertisement. I have seen a lot of reviews compare it to Stranger Things even though this show came out and comic book form before stranger things did but nobody likes to do any kind of research. Plus the guys who created Stranger Things have already been accused of stealing the entire shows idea. I am rambling so let me get to the main part of this review.

The Review: The Outfit

The Outfit 9/10

Hey, this was a real movie! I use that description rarely. But this was something I would've watched in a theater. I didn't even know it existed. Miss Jackie's mama suggested it to me and I checked it out and thoroughly enjoyed it. This cutter (not a tailor!) named Leonard Burling is enjoying a nice, quiet existence making suits. Most of his clients are with the mob but so what? His receptionist Mable starts dating the son of a mob boss who later shows up shot and Leonard is forced at gunpoint to sew him up to stop the bleeding. This leads to the talk of a rat and a tape that was taken from the FBI. This is where my detective skills shine like a turd in the dark because I was accusing everyone left and right of being the rat. This movie had me guessing until the very last scene. This movie was on some The Usual Suspects/Knives Out type shit. It is on Amazon and everyone should be watching this and wanting more movies like this. Small setting, great acting, the look of the movie, the sound was good (didn't have to keep adjusting the volume like a Netflix movie). Damn thing had me applauding by myself in my apartment.

The Review: The Boys Season 3

The Boys Season 3 (10/10)

Holy shit this show is good! This gonna be full of spoilers. I need to figure out how the hell I am even gonna write about this because there are a lot of people and a lot of things happening. Maybe I will just go character by character and try to tie all of their stories together and see how it goes. This is gonna be a mess. This season was the most violent, funniest, most somehow emotional, and best acted season so far. First season was good. Second was great. This was incredible!
