So this past weekend we managed to watch two terrible movies. Another Man's Wife. It's about this guy who's crazy rich. He's a tech guy and he created a dating app. Next we have a couple named Maya and Shawn. Shawn works making video games (which to me at this point seems like a job that's not going to exist in like two years). Maya, I am not sure what job she has but it involves fundraising. Seriously sitting here right now I am not sure what this woman does for a living. So Shawn heads the work and he finds out that he's getting laid off because of the competition. He decides not to tell his wife about this. Oh, and he finds out that his mother has cancer. What kind of cancer does she have? They don't say. How long does she have to live? They make it seem as if she doesn't get treatment in an hour she's going to die. Meanwhile Maya got a promotion. She is having the best day ever and she gets home and Shawn is like “Oh my mama dying.” She feels terrible for him.
They go to this fundraising benefit and there's an auction for a date with Maya. Shawn puts down $1000 which made me mad because I'm like “Dude you just lost your job and you guys live in a massive house that looks ugly but I'm sure it cost a lot of money.” Out of nowhere Brendan the tech guy bids $100,000. Shawn's sitting there unemployed mad about it. That same night Brendan invites Shawn and Maya upstairs to have a conversation. He offers them $2 million dollars so Maya can stay the weekend with him. Maya seems disgusted, Shawn seems upset but they do need the money. They go back and forth over this and Maya finally finds out that Shawn lost his job. It took him a few weeks to finally tell her and that his mother's cancer is getting worse and they really need the money. So Maya packs up for the weekend to go spend some time with Brendan. They sign a non-disclosure and they can't talk about anything that happens during this weekend or after. So Maya goes over there and I personally would have checked our luggage to be like “Why are you bringing sexy draws?”
So the whole time that Maya's there they don't show them having sex or anything. Brendan just talking to Maya like a normal human being which is something that her husband Shawn does not do. Shawn spends a whole weekend tossing and turning and when she gets back he's bouncing all around her like what happened what did you do did you have sex with him?! Shawn starts getting more suspicious anytime she's on the phone and he also finds a diamond necklace and starts following Brendan around because he doesn't have a job so he has nothing else to do. Finally one night they have a blow up fight and Shawn leaves and gets very drunk and finds his way to his friend's place. This is a terrible friend. This is also very terrible acting on the guy who played Shawn's part because it's 2026 and by now people should know how to play a drunk character on TV and in film. So Shawn lets his friend see the non-disclosure and explains the whole situation to him.
The next morning this is all over the internet. Maya ends up losing her job because the optics of one of their biggest donors sleeping with her looks terrible. Shawn's mama who's in the cancer treatment place is now cut off because the two million they got is now gone. Maya goes over to talk to Brendan and try to figure something out because he's very wealthy and should be able to fix any problem. Shawn shows up acting like an idiot and they both get kicked out. Fast forward it's three months later and they are getting a divorce and Maya goes outside and Brendan is out there waiting for her. He gives a look to Shawn and then a text message goes through and that's the end of the movie. I didn't like anybody in this film. The acting was bad, the music was bad, the lighting in this was horrible. I specifically looked up who did the lighting for this film because I can't believe how dark this movie was. I could not suggest this movie to anybody even just to make fun of it. Movie was trash. Good look finding stills from this.
Taye Diggs as Brendan
Sydney Mitchell as Maya
