The Review: Nine Perfect Strangers

Nine Perfect Strangers 10/10

Will have all kinda spoilers. This was a damned good show! I had no plans to check out Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu. I had no idea what it was about and had no interest in finding out but L. and I watched this show every damn week just in shock and waiting for it every week. We got a late start and were able to check out the first few one after another and then had to sit and ponder what the hell was going on. When the show begins this author named Frances is upset about a relationship that went south (we find out why later) and that her latest book is not going to be published. Along the way she meets a man named Tony who tries to help her and they immediately don't get along.

Masha runs this place and people either think she is full of shit or a saint. Everyone is there for a different reason. Lars Lee is a reporter doing an undercover story on this place called Tranquillum. They have all their phones taken away so he uses a watch and hides a phone on the grounds. Ben and Delilah are the most boring of anyone here. I won't even mention them again likely. He won the lottery and is bored with being rich and she cares too much about what the internet likes about her. Tony is addicted to pain pills after an injury caused him to leave the NFL and he no longer has a relationship with his family. The Marconi family is trying to recover after the suicide of their son. The father Napoleon acts like everything is great and fine and a positive attitude can fix anything. The mother Heather just wants to die pretty much and blames herself for her sons death. The daughter and twin sister to the son Zoe is miserable. The star of this series was Carmel because anytime she was on screen I was nervous as hell. She is trying to raise her self esteem after her husband left her for a younger woman.

There are people that work with Masha. Yao is boning her. He saved Masha when she was shot in a parking lot and he was an EMT. That experience is what made Masha stop her old money making, using people lifestyle. Also the death of her daughter. There is Delilah who is dating Yao and seems to have also had a relationship with Masha. And then there is Hope. Hope makes the smoothies. Yeah. Every day they drink these things and later find out after Napoleon has an emotional breakdown (after killing a goat with his bare hands) during a meal that Masha has been having them all micro dosed. After getting some death threats Masha thinking her life is coming to an end speeds up the dosing process and shit starts to get extra tasty strange. I'm talking hallucinations of every kind. Talking to the dead. Noses falling off. Bubbles. All kinda stuff.

By the end of this season Frances and Tony are in love. Lars don't even care about exposing the place and wants to have a child with his ex boyfriend. The Marconi's have spoken to their dead son and come to grips with the fact that he is gone and why. The young couple are...whatever. I seriously didn't care what they were doing. If they were not on this show it would not have changed the story in any way. Delilah has left to get police involved. But Carmel...dude. After threatening to attack people and snapping a few times she reveals to Masha that she is the one that shot her because Masha was sleeping with her husband. By the way, Masha is the one that invited her knowing this! Carmel made herself up to look like a guy. She looked like Method Man with a Fetty Wap eye. She is the last person that should've been given drugs but here we are. I loved this crazy ass show. No need for a second season. They show what happened to everyone afterward. The acting. The music. The score. The tone. The look. Its all good.
