The Review: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald 8/10

Newt is back! But first they gotta transfer Grindelwald out of the US and back to Europe. This dude is spooky as hell and there is more action in this first scene that all the Potter movies combined. I am exaggerating but not too much. Meanwhile Newt is trying to appeal his ban on traveling and they are like “We will but you gotta capture the kid that turned out to be the demon cloud” from the first film. Yeah, I didn't cover everything in my first review. The dude that was hunting the kid Credence turned out to be Grindelwald in disguise and the kid turned out to be the cloud demon thing even though he was too old and a male. Credence is also being hunted by this other guy, Dumbledore wants Newt to find him thinking he belongs to the Lestrange family. Everybody want this boy to kill him, use him as a weapon, or help him out.

Queenie and Jacob arrive to see Newt. Turns out he has a bakery now and they are together. Jacob also has his memories after everyone else had theirs erased after all the chaos of the last film I didn't talk about. Newt sees that Jacob is acting all weird and realizes that Queenie has him under a spell. Tina is also around and tries to act like she ain't down with Newt anymore but she is. She is also looking for Credence. This poor fucking kid. Just when he thinks he knows who he is now someone dies and he finds out something else. Then he finds out that is a lie and he is not who he thought he was. Then they throw in a twist at the movie that changes all kinda shit and I am glad I have not read the books because L. was telling me about the complaints folks that did had and I just smiled smugly.

This was a cool movie and I liked it a lot though some of the scenes went on for a little bit too long and I wanted more weird animals. There was some scenes that had me cracking up laughing like the horny rhino thing and being surprised at how brutal some of the death scenes were. Nothing will top the one in the last film where the smoke monster Alabama Slammed that dudes son on stage. We watched the trailer for the next film that comes out soon and I am upset that Grindelwald has been replaced. Like the other actor but dude was perfect for the role. The way this movie ended has me actually excited to check the next out in theaters.
