The Review: Transformers One

Transformers One 10/10

I fucking loved this movie. You know how pissed off I am that after seeing and loving this and finding out that no more are being made?! Advertising can be blamed for sure. I saw the trailer for this and thought it was interesting looking but didn't feel a need to see this in theaters. They fucked up. You know what they could've shown me and got me into the theaters twice?

While watching this with L during the final fight I said out loud “I wonder if he will use the ax.” Then I gave her a fast forward nerd history of the ax and how I cried like a little bitch seeing the movie when I was little and Prime died. When he whipped out the ax I lost my mind! Who was this movie marketed to? Was it fans of those Michael Bay fans? New little kids? I don't know. But what I do know is that it should have been aimed towards people ages 40 to 55. Prime should have appeared on the screen and said “Hey, old people. You ever had to use dial up? A Thomas Guide? You watch Transformers back when it was a cartoon? Then go see this fucking movie. I use an ax hand!”

The basic story of this movie is that Prime and Megatron (neither have those names yet) are buddies working in the Energon mines. Prime knows they need more in life while Megatron is strictly by the rules. Prime enters them into a race with actual Transformers since all the miners don't transform. They get noticed and then sent to the lowest level where they meet Bumblebee. They get out and bump into Elita. Adventures ensue!

I am downplaying how fun this movie was and actual funny. I loved this so much. It hit so many notes that I wanted and didn't expect. The voice acting was really good. I am starting to appreciate good voice work especially from celebrities because this movie is crammed with them and not professional voice actors. You ever watch some of those newer DC animated movies? Yeesh. They did good in this one. This is one of those movies I am gonna watch every month and make some art from it. Prime with lips didn't even bother me.
