The Review: Doctor Strange The Sorcerer Supreme

I recently watched the 2007 Marvel animated film Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme. I had no idea this even existed. Not that I would have searched hard for it seeing as how I'm not really a fan of Dr. Strange and Marvel animated movies tend to stink. This turned out to be pretty decent. It is the origin of how Strange went from being asshole surgeon to one of the greatest sorcerers in the Marvel universe. All in what seems to be a few months.

People have compared this to Batman Begins which is funny as how this story was done years before that version of Batman's origin was. Also, guy travels far, faces hardships and himself, and emerges stronger is not a new idea. They did a good job of establishing how unlikable Strange is before his evolution but take too long to show why he behaves the way he does. Also, he didn't learn much from the tragedy that made him the way he is. Good animation though shaky at times. Nice voice work except for Dormammu who sounded like he was on a cell phone. Worth checking out if you know nothing of this character but want to sound like you do when his live movie comes out.
