The Review: Jason's Lyric

Jason's Lyric 5/10

So L. had me watch this movie called Black Trauma. I mean Jason's Lyric. That's what it was called. I have heard of this movie forever. I honestly had never watched it because of the stars. I have nothing against them personally I just...I don't. This is about these two little brothers named Jason and Joshua. Their father Mad Dog goes to war and comes back with a leg missing along with his mind. He comes to the house and has violent outbursts and their mother refuses to let him inside. One day he gets in and one of the brothers shoots his ass after he hits their mother. I thought it was Joshua because of how he is as an adult (I'll get to that soon) but it turns out that Jason did it. So they grow up and Jason works in a TV shop while Joshua just gets out of jail for who knows what. Apparently that's just his thing. They throw him a welcome home party and he is drunk off his ass and ruins everything. He wants to get right back into crime and make money.

Jason is at work and this lady walks in and he is smitten. Her name is Lyric and she is cryptic as hell. She wont give where she works or anything and he ends up finding her at work where people come to get ribs and sexually harass women. It looks fun. So he gets Lyric's name and follows her home after getting off the bus and they end up bonding and fucking in the middle of the woods and flowers grow. Its romantic. Meanwhile Joshua is planning on a bank robbery with Lyric's brother. Yeah, his is a piece of shit that is dating the lady that works with Lyric. She is in every other Black Movies 101 film I watch. Her and Taye Diggs. I can't escape them.

Joshua is getting worse. Jason learns from Lyric about a bank robbery and she tells Jason and Jason tells Joshua that he knows that the bank robbery is taking place. Joshua shows up to the robbery late and fucks everything up and people start getting killed. Lyric's brother Alonzo ties his ass up and hangs him and beats the shit out of him and plans to cut him up and his brother. I don't feel bad because the whole time this bastard been wildin' out and is just an agent of chaos. Lyric wants to leave with Jason but he feels he needs to stay for his brother and mother.

Joshua overhears these sweet plans and decides to be a worse human being. He heads to Alonzo's house and he ain't there because he fucking his woman. Joshua kills two henchmen and takes Lyric hostage. Jason shows up and puts a gun to his brother and Joshua ends up shooting Lyric. I keep wanting to say Justice for some reason. Turns out that Lyric lives and they leave and Jason's brother is dead and their mom is just left there like...fuck. That poor woman. I liked this one more than the last movie I watched but had no idea it was full of so much misery.
