The Review: House Of The Dragon/Pale Blue Eye/Wednesday/The Imperfects

House Of The Dragon 10/10

This is me catching up on the whole lot of different things at once. The first one is going to be House of the Dragon. I watched this show as it debuted and watched every single episode as they came out and absolutely loved it. This takes place a couple of hundred years before the Game of Thrones so you don't really need to have watch that show to enjoy this one. It does help with random little Easter eggs like when you hear a certain name or something and you recall it from Game of Thrones. The basic story of this without getting way too deep into it is that there's a princess and her father and mother who are the king and queen are having trouble giving birth to an heir that is a boy and when they finally do the child ends up dying along with the mother. The princess is supposed to be made the leader eventually but nobody wants to listen to women so she ends up hooking up with her uncle eventually which is really weird and creepy but after listening to so many episodes of that Noble Blood podcast was totes norms back in the day. This show had a really cool story, really good casting even though it was kind of weird to get used to this young girl suddenly being a grown woman. I enjoyed every single episode of this and none were wasted and could have easily watched twice as many if they had made them. Is this show bloody and violent? Yes, very much so. But I would not expect anything less from HBO or the creator of the series of books. This also filled the fantasy whole that was left by certain shows either not coming back or not being made. Every year I need at least one show with some kind of magic or science fiction or something and can't sit around watching nothing but detective stuff all the time.

Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen

Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen

Emma D'Arcy as Princess.Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen

Milly Alcock young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen

Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon

The Pale Blue Eye 9/10

The next thing that I watch was The Pale Blue Eye. This was a really good movie and for the 100th time proved why I would be a terrible detective in real life. This is about this retired detective who is asked to solve why one of the cadets out of military academy was found hung and killed. Not only was he hung and killed but his heart was removed from his damn body. Using his very good detective skills and a lot of not wearing gloves or anything because in 1830 that kind of stuff didn't exist he is able to see that not only was he hung, but that he did not hang himself, and he had damage as if he had been beaten. He ends up asking Edgar Allan Poe who is a cadet at that academy as well to help him solve the case. There's all kind of crazy shit in this film like animals being sacrificed, women having seizures, and all kind of conspiracy theories and trying to keep things undercover going on. This was a really good movie. This is on Netflix but I could have easily seen myself watching this in the theater. It also had a very good cast of actors and actresses.

Christian Bale as Augustus Landor

Harry Melling as Cadet Edgar Allan Poe

Gillian Anderson as Mrs. Julia Marquis

Lucy Boynton as Lea Marquis

Wednesday 8/10

I honestly didn't have any real desire to check out the Wednesday series. But after someone suggested it I started it and after the first episode knew that I would end up finishing it. For some reason I thought this was going to be about the entire Addams Family but from the start they pretty much get pushed to the back but not in a bad way and the series focuses on Wednesday Addams. Again my terrible detective skills were at work because I started pointing the finger at everybody regarding who was a monster that was killing people. I thought it was two separate boys and I thought was three separate women but then it was pointed out to me that I actually guessed one of the boys at the beginning so I felt a little bit better about myself. I thought that I would get tired of Wednesdays attitude and how she reacts everything in the world but it turned out to not feel forced or get tiresome. I was watching multiple episodes of this at once and every single one of them flew by quickly. I would definitely check out another season of this.

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams

Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems

The Imperfects DNF/10

Lastly on this catch up post is The Imperfects. I did not finish this show so I'm not going to put a score but if it had continued the way it did this would have gotten a 0 or 1. This is about some people that I can't call teens because everyone's ages look all over the place that were part of an experimental program where some of them ended up with superpowers. One who is a terrible singer in a terrible sounding band get super sensitive hearing and sonic screaming powers. Another annoying genetic student gets the ability to make people want to bone down with her by releasing pheromones. And the last is this young boy who turns into the chupacabra. I lasted two episodes and even though the show isn't even an hour long each episode felt way too long and as soon as the second one ended I realize that I could not go any further and did not care about these characters or what happened to them.

Italia Ricci as Dr. Sydney Burke

Morgan Taylor Campbell as Tilda Weber

Rhianna Jagpal as Abbi Singh

IƱaki Godoy as Juan Ruiz
