The Review: Glass Onion

Glass Onion 9/10

I really liked this damn movie. I was very surprised to see that it was already available to watch on Netflix because I thought I was going to have to wait a month or two to finally check out Glass Onion. I really liked Knives Out and didn't have super high hopes that this would be as close to as good as that movie was but I was very surprised. What I'm not surprised by is the fact that I am a terrible detective and that if I was ever in a situation where I had to solve a mystery I would fail. This rich jerk named Miles invites a bunch of his different friends and people he's known for years to his island for a murder mystery game but not before making them solve this crazy ass puzzle just to get the invitation. One of the friends named Andi ends up just smashing it open and heading to the island.

Benoit Blanc is also there and no one is sure why because he was not sent an invitation. Miles shows them all around the island and plans to do this whole elaborate murder mystery game but Benoit ends up solving it immediately before they even get started. Next thing you know people start dying for real. Someone ends up choking to death on the glass that originally had Miles name on it and they're trying to figure out who could be trying to kill Miles and he's freaking out and next thing you know Andi ends up getting shot but it turns out it's not her it's her twin sister and the real Andi was murdered by one of these people that is at this damn party. Now normally I would think that is super cheese ball to do having a twin in the story but for some reason in the tone of this film and the way that it's done I had zero problem with it.

This movie had a really good cast and directing and writing and had me guessing up until the end of this film who could have committed these crimes because every single person there had a reason to want to kill Miles. This was on Netflix but if you want to watch the first film you have to jump through a whole bunch of damn hoops to watch it and it's streaming nowhere for free which sucks. How are you going to have the sequel able to watch online but not the first film? I really had fun watching this and would like to watch it again just to see how certain characters react to seeing someone who's supposed to be dead show up to the island. And while I enjoyed this movie the first film was still slightly better. I don't think everyone that was in this got a lot of time to shine as much as the family in the first film did. But still I highly recommend this movie.
