The Review: The Invitation

The Invitation 7/10

So L. and I watch this movie called The Invitation. All I knew about this movie from the trailer was at this girl gets invited to go overseas and then weird things start happening in the house that was pretty much the extent of my knowledge on this film. Now it's about this girl named Evie who works freelancing at a catering place and getting felt up by pervy men and somebody leaves a gift bag where you can do DNA test. She takes it and is contacted by a cousin that's in England somewhere. Her best friend tells her that she shouldn't go and she's going to end up killed or something but she doesn't have any other family so she decides that she's going to make the trip. Now at the beginning of the film we saw some woman end up hanging herself with a piano wire trying to get away from everybody in the house and now Evie starts seeing weird visions and having dreams about this woman. There's also some maids that are working for this gathering of all these different people and they all start getting picked off one by one by some creepy ass monster this giant manner is owned by this guy named Walter who takes a liking the Evie.

Every time this man is on screen his smirk and smile just screams “I am going to fuck you eventually.” So of course they end up getting down with each other and joking about getting married but this man takes it all the way serious and at the family dinner they bring one of the maids over, slit her throat, and start drinking blood and it turns out that Walter is a damn vampire. I had zero idea that this movie had a whole monster and vampire element to it but I was pleasantly surprised. She tries getting away from them and she actually escapes and she finds these old people and it turns out that they're helping Walter so her ass is brought on right back and Walter can't understand why she don't want to live forever. There are also these two women who are Walter's side chicks and one of them does not like Evie at all. Evie ends up in a wedding dress and walking down the aisle to marry Walter and after they exchange valve she ends up just biting down on his arm and taking a whole bunch of blood because she knows that as long as he's alive she'll have powers. So next thing you know she stabs Walter and he starts getting all old and crispy and she starts fighting other people it's fucking crazy. This is an actual good movie and I was surprised I liked it as much and that I enjoyed the monster twist that was added to it.
