Too
Late 8/10
The
second movie I saw with Camille was one she suggested called Too
Late. Again, I didn't know what it was about, who was in it, or what
it even looked like. I knew the guy on the poster looked familiar and
it turned out that it was John Hawkes. I knew him from that sad ass
movie Winter's Bone. Its hard to describe quite what this movie is
about. It starts at one place that you think is the beginning, moves
to a spot that may be the end, but then the ending is around the
actual middle of time. Its confusing but still worked well.
Hawkes
is a private investigator named Sampson. He gets a call from a girl
named Dorothy played by Crystal Reed who is in the hills in L.A and
takes some drugs from these two guys and ends up getting assassinated
by a park ranger. Its strange. But the movie then goes to another
segment with this super unhappy woman and her older husband played by
Robert Forster that cheats on her with a stripper. Then there is
another aspect that involves some family stuff that I won't spoil
because I want you all to check this movie out.
This
movie is said to have been shot in five 22 minute segments with no
cuts. You can tell that there were a few parts where if this were
shot like a regular movie with cuts every few seconds that they would
have gone with another take. Like, the chick playing Dorothy had a
few scenes where her acting was a bit off and you know another take
could've been done but if you are 10 minutes into a scene and someone
messes up you do not wanna do it all over again. This was still a
good movie and shot in L.A in a way I'd never seen before using
really far away zooms and split screens.
