The Review: Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2

Game Of Thrones Season 8 “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”

This will be full of spoilers. Holy shit. While this episode was not as intense as the last one it was far more emotional an had a lot of progress. Knowing that there are only six episodes this season they are not wasting time. Jaime is brought before everyone to be judged. Dany knows who he is and talks about the stories she and her brother would share about what they would do to the man, Jaime, who had killed their father and watched him bleed out. This is some shit from back in the day and why Jaime is known as The Kingslayer. Sansa don't trust him either. Bran is just staring at him making him feel all kinds of uncomfortable. Brienne sticks up for him. Jon vouches for him so he is allowed to stay. And live. Jaime ends up having a chat with Bran outside where Bran is like “We need you to fight and you could not do that if they killed you.” Jaime asks about what happens after the war and Bran is like “Bitch, how do you know there is an after?” Bran continues to bring the vague and spooky.

Dany does not want to hear anything that Tyrion has to say. He has been wrong a few times and his wrong costs a lot of lives. Dany and Sansa have a meeting to hash shit out. It seems to be running smoothly until Sansa wants to know who will get the Iron Throne after the war is over. The war has not even started yet! Stop worrying about who is gonna rule! Dany says it is hers because it really is. Sansa thinks it is hers because her family was betrayed. Hey. Zombies are coming. Thousands and thousands of them. And they get new ones for every one of you they kill. And they got a dragon. So figure that out later. Sansa thinks that Dany is using Jon and then Dany breaks it down for her how she left her home halfway around the world to fight in Jon's home.

Theon shows up again and I was happy. This fucker has done a 360, not a 180. His character has changed so much during this show. Yeah, a lot of people have changed but this dude went from Stark, betrayed them, killed kids, got captured, his dick cut off, had to stand in the room and watch Sansa get raped, helped her escape, went back to his family, laughed at, to coming back to Winterfell with open arms. Seriously! Bran wants to be used as bait to lure the Night King because he knows where Bran is at all times.

The crew get together and have drinks, talk, and sing. Tyrion, Jaime, Davos, Brienne, Podrick, and Tormund are talking about the upcoming war which Tyrion thinks they will survive which causes everyone to laugh. Tormund wants Brienne so much. He shares a story of killing a giant and chugging his drink to turn her on. Does not work. He also wonders why she can not be a knight. Brienne says women can not be. He thinks that is bullshit. Jaime explains that you do not need a king to make a knight, but another knight can do it. She acts like she does not care or want it but eventually kneels and is knighted by Jaime. That smile on her face! I fucking loved this scene so much.

Scene I didn't like? Watching Arya and Gendry bone down. It felt like I was watching a kid want to get down and not just because I am old as shit but because I watched this character grow up. She asks how many women he has slept with and says she doesn't want to die not knowing what the sex feels like so they get down. I loved the expression on his face throughout this. I was waiting for him to say he had the vapors and fan himself. Gendry also told her that he is King Robert's bastard child which is why the Red Witch wanted his blood. Now hurry up and make Arya's sword.

Down in the crypts where no good news is ever shared Dany finds Jon standing at the statue of his aunt Lyanna Stark. Dany is like “I can not believe my cool brother raped her” and Jon is like “He didn't they were in love and I am their kid” and Dany is like “Bullshit. Who told you?” and Jon is like “Bran and Sam” and she is like “Oh, you brother and best friend? How convenient!” and he is like “It's true though!” and she is like “That would mean that you are the last male in my family and rightful ruler of the Iron Throne...” then the horn sounds and the dead are coming. I was waiting for her to say “That means I'm your aunt” but that ain't even mentioned.

The closer this show gets to ending the more anxious I am watching. When it is quiet I am waiting for someone to kick open a door and announce that ten people died off screen. The hardest thing about this show is accepting that people can change. There are characters I could not wait to see die on here but I am glad they are still around. Theon and Jaime are two of the best examples I can think of offhand. Theon for reasons I mentioned above and Jaime because he pushed a kid out the window because he saw Jaime boning his sister and that was in the first season. Super excited to see how this season ends.
