DVDiculous: Odd Thomas
A few years back I was all about Dean Koontz’s series Odd Thomas about a kid that has the ability to see and interact with the dead. The series was good for about two books but with the departure of Elvis Presley, the introduction of people with special needs (which pops up quite a bit in Koontz books) and magical dogs (the second thing that always pops up in his books) I lost interest in the stories. I found out that a film had been completed which was weird because the last I heard it was in development hell and there were multiple fan films made.
Anton Yelchin who was recently in Star Trek Into Darkness stars as Odd Thomas. Like I said, he can see and communicate with the dead. It starts with a dead young girl walking up to him. He ends up using his psychic magnetism to find this guy driving and ends up chasing him down and brawling with him, knocking his ass out until the cops show up. Willem Dafoe plays police chief Wyatt Porter who knows of Odd’s powers and reluctantly uses his help in solving crimes.

So Much Hate: World War Z Movie
I’m not one to complain for no reason. I was almost able to say that with a straight face. A few years back I read this book called World War Z. Honestly, I bought it because the cover was awesome totally blowing that whole “not judging a book by its cover” stuff right out of the water. It immediately became one of the best books I’ve ever read in my life. The characters, the stories, the action, the zombies, the war, it was all just incredible writing on Max Brooks’ part.
I have owned the book three times. Owned is in the past tense because I let someone borrow it and they lost it, another had their child destroy it, and another ruined it. I refuse to buy it again even though when I owned it I read it probably eight times. Its that good of a story.
When I heard that it was purchased to be made I was excited. I imagined a terrific series that could run for at the very least three seasons. There are so many characters and tales that done in a documentary manner it would’ve blown The Walking Dead out of the water. But that isn’t what happened.
It was being made into a film.

| How come why?! |
Still, I held judgment. It was in development hell for years which is never a good sign. Multiple rewrites and location changes and shots needed. And then I saw the trailer and lost my fucking shit. If I were more animal than man I would’ve beat my chest, roared, and smeared shit all over my computer screen.

Art Imitating Life
In films there are always people that do things that bug us. Things that are supposed to be funny, clever, or cool but in reality would make you punch them in the face. So I with the help of Trixie came up with a mixture of some of these things.
Quirky Girls
Oh, you know the type. The weird girl that paints or has a house full of knick knacks that she started doing as a child but have managed to stay in perfect condition. She’s cute in a mousey way and always manages to make the straight laced businessman cut loose and find his inner child. In the movie The Adjustment Bureau this chick takes Matt Damon’s phone and drops it in his cup of coffee since he needs to use it. Zooey Deschanel is the main offender of this nonsense. If someone take my metaphorical cell phone and dropped it in my coffee I would likely shake the shit out of her.
