The Review: Still Life (2006)

Still Life 7/10

Did y'all know that Laemmle be releasing movies online? I didn't. Never even thought to look. Last week Camille mentioned to me that a film called Still Life was available to stream there and that we should watch it. We had seen the directors previous film Ash If Purest White and loved that movie so I was for sure down to watch this one. I knew nothing about it and didn't care. This is how I used to watch movies with her back in the day meaning every year but this one so it was a nice flashback feeling. It is actually kind of difficult for me to explain what this movie was about mostly because I have no idea about what is going on in Fengjie, China. Hell, I don't even know what's going on in North Hollywood. This movie was made in 2006, released here for a moment in 2008, and then re-released in 2016.

The Review: Inside Man

Inside Man 9/10

A few days ago I decided to watch the movie Inside Man. I have only seen this one time previously and liked it a lot considering it is a Spike Lee movie. It is my favorite from him because it doesn't feel like one even though he does that stupid camera trick at one point. This movie is a great cat and mouse game where neither one of the characters is quite a cat or a mouse. Just when one thinks they have the answer the damn question gets changed. This guy named Dalton Russell introduces himself to the camera explaining that is committed the perfect robbery. He and his team all going by variations of the name Steve dressing as bug killers and locking up the bank. Though the lead robber is polite and will only beat that ass if you seriously get out of line they do make everyone strip and put on the outfits they are wearing and set them up in different rooms. They do this cool thing where the movie is cut with interviews with the people who were held hostage.

The Review: A Prairie Home Companion

A Prairie Home Companion 8/10

I went to AFI Fest with Koko and this cutie the other day and got to see two movies. The first was A Prairie Home Companion directed by Robert Altman. I had zero idea what this movie was about though I had heard of it before. I thought maybe it was about a farm and dying horses or something. Seriously. I did not know when it was made or who was in it. I actually thought it was a much older film based on the title. I was wrong about a lot of this movie meaning everything.

The Review: The Fall

The Fall 9/10

I am so pissed that I am just getting around to watching this movie. A friend sent an image from it years ago and I was supposed to create something (which I finally did) and we were talking about this movie and I decided to finally watch it and I am glad I did. The Fall was came out back in 2006 (or 2008 depending on who you ask) and is one of those kind of movie that make you happy that movies exist because there is nothing else that can be like this except for a fever dream. It takes place in early 1900's Los Angeles and it starts off with no sound. You just see a horse being rescued from a river while people are shouting and then pulling someone out. A stuntman is injured named Roy Walker and he is placed by Lee Pace. He is visited by this little girl named Alexandria played by Catinca Untaru who is there to have her broken arm fixed. He begins telling her a crazy ass story the next day.
