The Review: Kevin Hart What Now?

Kevin Hart What Now? 8/10

I am so glad that What Now? with Kevin Hart was funny. I did not enjoy Let Me Explain a few years back and thought that maybe Hart had lost his funny for me but this damn thing had me cracking up a lot. I recently watched Louis CK and Dave Chappelle's latest specials which were funny as fuck so this one had an uphill battle coming in. I laughed a bunch of times during this and was even into the short film at the start and end of this starring Hart and Halle Berry. How dare she still be so hot? Its a James Bond spoof where even Don Cheadle shows up and had me cracking up when Hart made fun of him as Black Iron Man. Its an actual good action film. Please don't make it a full film.

Theater Whore: Ride Along & The Legend Of Hercules

Ride Along 5/10

I have wanted to see Ride Along ever since I first saw the trailer for it. It stars Kevin Hart who I think is funny as hell (except for Let Me Explain where I laughed once) and I've been a fan of Ice Cube since I was a child. The two of them together seemed like it would be a great mix and for a bit it is. But this movie takes a turn and never gets back to what made the movie funny at times, which was the interaction between Hart and Cube.

Hart plays Ben Barber who is a security guard at a high school who wants to join the police academy. He spends his free time playing video games online which give him a ton of knowledge about guns though he's never held a real one. He wants to marry his fiancee Angela Payton played by Tika Sumpter who is just too damned cute. The biggest hurdle is James Payton played by Cube who is her older brother.

Theater Whore: Let Me Explain

Kevin Hart’s newest standup film Let Me Explain is an okay standup book ended by not so funny video footage. I think Hart is one of the funniest people alive right now and was excited to check this out but after sitting for about twenty minutes watching a skit that wasn’t funny and ran for too long followed by just watching him thank crowds all over the world I was dying to laugh. Literally. I have a condition.

Hart discusses his life since being divorced and what led to it happening. It is sort of funny but went on for way too long. The funniest part involves a bum flicking your lip. I cracked up at that and hoped it would keep going like that. It didn’t. Next thing you know the damned thing is done and here are some more footage of him and his friends not being all that funny.
