The Review: Fear Street 1994

Fear Street Part One: 1994 (7/10)

Today I decided to check out Fear Street 1994 on Netflix before the channel gets canceled for a few months. I don't actively look for horror movies but if I do I like to know there is some cheese involved. This one had all the cheese. Before I begin though I do have to say that this had a great soundtrack that reminded me of the good parts of high school. But they do spam the songs really quickly. It was like being stuck in a room with someone playing music on shuffle every ten seconds. This starts with this girl named Heather Watkins being chased down and stabbed to death in a mall after closing. The killer, Ryan Torres, is unmasked by her before she dies and he is shot and killed by a police officer. The town that they are in is called Shadyside which sounds like the type of place crimes would occur of some kind. A bunch of teenagers in school say its a curse from a witch that was hung in 1666 named Sarah Fier.

This girl named Deena Johnson who is miserable as all hell is upset that a girl she was dating moved away. Her brother Josh stays on the internet looking up murders and shit. Her friends Simon and Kate sell drugs. At a vigil for Sarah Deena spots her ex, Sam. Sam is dating a guy named Peter who acts like an assclown. During the vigil a brawl erupts between the two schools. On the way home Kate rallies the troops on the bus. Peter and his friends, wearing the same masks as the guy who killed Sarah, start taunting the kid. Deena launches a cooler at the car causing it to wreck. They check on them and Sam crawls out bleeding all over the place and starts seeing the witch that was hung in flashes.

While Sam is in the hospital Deena and Josh see a guy in the skeleton mask. They think its Peter or someone from the other town. Kate and Josh get Deena into the hospital to see Sam. She says Peter has been with her the whole time and suddenly Peter gets a spear through his chest. The killer is here and has already killed a bunch of the staff. Deena and Sam go to the police and they are like “Whatevs...” The group go back to the scene of the accident and realize that Sam bled on the spot where Sarah Fier was buried and now she is raising past serial killers to come get her ass.

The kids come up with all kinds of traps and shit to kill the killers but they just come back to life. They decide that Sam needs to die after calling a previous victim of this witch and finding out that she doed and came back and that solved all their problems. Joh gets an ax to the head. Kate gets put in a fucking bread slicer! Sam is taking forever to die. She tried pills but threw them up so now Deena is trying to drown her in a fish tank but she obviously has swim training because it takes her like four minutes and folks deaths before she kicks the bucket. She does and the killers are gone. Deena brings her back using all of the EpiPens and CPR. Later the woman that survived the witch calls Deena and says that the witch never stopped. Cool. Sam shows up acting all evil and stabs Deena. Deena fights her off and ends up getting possessed. By the way, her damned brother Josh hears none of this because he is always blasting music. Deena comes and shows him that Sam is not okay and it ends. This movie had me intrigued enough that I'll be checking out the other parts soon.
