Umbrella Academy Season 3 (6/10)

This wont be long. I know that I said I was not gonna watch this show if they made it but I did. I ended up ironing and plowing through the third season. This was definitely better than the second one even though there were way more people. Just like previous seasons it picks up right where the last one left off. The team is stuck in an alternate reality where their goofy asses were never created. Instead their adoptive father created the Sparrow Academy because when he met them in the 60's he realized that they were fuck ups and wanted to fix that. Just like before the world is going to end because of things they have done and mistakes that were made and they need to stop it and they do but not without a bunch of confusion in between. The new team seems to have a more famous lifestyle than the Umbrella Academy did but seem like jerks still. None are really likable. Again for the third time in a row Klaus and Five are the most interesting parts of the series. Vanya/Viktor remains uninteresting. Diego is a shit fighter. Luther's a jackass. And Allison is a monster.

Umbrella Academy Season Two 5/10

Full of spoilers. Last week I finished season two of The Umbrella Academy. In case anyone forgot this series is about a group of seven adopted children born from women who were suddenly pregnant and their children had super powers and were adopted by a guy who wanted to make a team to protect the planet. They are all fuck ups in their own special way and very dysfunctional. At the end of the first season (click here to check out my review of that) they end up jumping into a portal to time travel after one of the members of the team blows the moon up an a chunk of it hits the Earth. There is also a talking chimp.

The Review: The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy 9/10

This review will be full of spoilers. Today I finished watching The Umbrella Academy on Netflix. Glad I checked this out before I canceled my subscription because this was a damned good show. I have heard of the comic book this is based off of but have never read it so I don't have anything to base this off of other than what I watched. I started watching this yesterday and was like “The trailer doesn't look good so I'll give it an episode or two.” By episode three I was hooked. There are ten episodes which was just enough and each is between 50-59 minutes long.

This starts off crazy as hell. This girl jumps into a swimming pool and in moments she is pregnant and about to give birth. It turns out that in 1989 a bunch of women suddenly had children. These kids have super powers and this dude goes on to raise and train them to be a superhero team to save the world. There are seven kids at the academy but only one of them seems to have no powers so she gets hardcore left out of everything. Missions, fun, and even photos. It is like her ass don't even exist. A scene shows the kids stopping a bank robbery using all their powers and the city congratulating them. They are not some secret organization. The world knows them and throws parades and they have comics and toys. They all have different personalities and as the series progressed thankfully they all grew in some way because I was starting to worry that no one would by the time this series wrapped up.
