The Review: Black Mirror S4E3 "Crocodile"

Black Mirror Crocodile 1/10

I am finally watching some more episodes of Black Mirror and just finished episode three from season four. I didn't like it. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly it was that made this episode feel so insignificant. Like, this episode did not even need to be made. It has a premise that could work out to be interesting but felt like a light ass version of Black Mirror. It felt like that Phillip K. Dick series that is so bland I haven't even bothered writing about it. A woman riding with a guy who drunkenly kills someone on the road helps him cover it up and years later he wants to come clean with it.

Years pass and Mia played by Andrea Riseborough has a son and is doing well so she wants that shit kept on the low. So she kills him. She hides his body and witnesses an accident. An investigator played by Kiran Sonia Sawar is using a device to see the memories of different folks that may have seen the accident and ends up finding out that Mia is one of them. She goes to talk to her, uses the science device, and ends up seeing all the bad shit Mia did. Mia kills her, goes to her house and kills her husband, finds out she has a baby and kills it too. Oh, turns out the baby was blind and wouldn't have helped cops. But you know who will? The pet gerbil! I shit you not. Cops show up while she is at her sons recital and...the end.

This felt like what people who make fun of Black Mirror would have written. This just felt like an empty hour that could have been done in twenty minutes like part of a larger episode or a scene in something else. As regretful as Mia was after watching the first guy get killed she seemed super capable of killing three adults and a baby quite easily. This was some weak ass sauce, man.
