Theater Whore Jason Bourne

Jason Bourne 7/10

Last week me and Mala went to see Jason Bourne after filling our bodies with delicious bacon at Grub. This was a surprise trip to the theater because though I wanted to see this I wasn't expecting to opening day. It was early in the afternoon and I was surprised by how many people were in the theater. I am a huge fan of the Bourne films...except for that Jeremy Renner one which I haven't heard anyone say they enjoyed. I mean, seriously. That movie was a box of ass.

This takes place after the last time Matt Damon played Bourne. He spends his time punching people in the face and getting his ass kicked. I think he does it for cash. I don't recall seeing money change hands. Nicky Parsons played by Julia Stiles aka My 20 Year Crush shows up in Iceland still on the run from those Treadstone folks and hacks into their system. They find out that she stole some very sensitive information that will reveal some things to Bourne that would make him snap and kill all of their asses.

Theater Whore: Ex Machina

Ex Machina 7/10

There will be some spoilers. I got to check out the movie Ex Machina. This is a really good movie that has a lot of mindfuckery to it. It stars Domhnall Gleeson who was in Frank as Caleb. He is a computer programmer that wins a contest to meet with the CEO of the company he works for, Blue Book. Its like a bionic Google. So he gets placed on a helicopter and flies hours away and told he will be picked up one week later.

Caleb gets there and meets Nathan played by the incredible and underrated Oscar Isaac. He is a very straightforward guy and tells Caleb to get the awkwardness out of the way. Nathan introduces Caleb to his assistant Kyoko. She speaks no English and prepares meals and such. Nathan tells Caleb that he wants him to help test out some new AI that he is working on named Ava played by Alicia Vikander. He wants Caleb to talk to Ava and see how well she replies during human interaction. Nathan's entire home is recorded with cameras.

Theater Whore: A Royal Affair

Once again I went to the Sundance Theater up on Sunset. Me and Cam had been meaning to see a movie for a while and she keeps up on all the classy films that get awards unlike me who wants to see things based on how many explosions are in the trailer. Our choices were Flight and A Royal Affair and after watching the trailer for Flight I feel like I’ve seen the film so we chose the latter. So glad that we did since this was really good. I normally hate movies based around time periods where people wore way too many layers.

Too much!

A young girl, Caroline Mathilde, is heading to Denmark to become the new queen of King Christian VII. She has never met him and has heard all these stories of how cultured and handsome he is. She gets there and dude is hiding behind a tree acting like a total weirdo. And by weirdo I mean lunatic. He hates that everyone thinks she is so damned artsy when he is the real talented one. Caroline spends most of her time looking sad even after she has her first kid.

Whoopwhoopwhoopwhoopwhoop!

Elsewhere this guy Johann Friedrich Struensee, who I will just call Ze German from now on because fuck typing that name repeatedly, is brought in as part of a plan to influence this crazy ass king. The king likes him because he knows Shakespeare and everything gets better. The king stops acting as crazy. Yay.
