The Review: Ghosts (BBC)

Ghosts (BBC) 9/10

This series is awesome. L. and I saw this pop up on HBO Max and decided to check it out and immediately enjoyed it. We also found out that there is a new United States version that she started checking out but I will wait because I don't wanna watch a remake so close to the original especially when I liked the original so much. This is about a newly married couple named Alison and Mike. After a distant relative of hers passes away she discovers that she inherits Button House which is this big ass mansion. The problem is that the place is filthy with ghosts that passed away there over the years and never moved on. Even the distant relative moved on immediately which upset some of the ghosts that seem stuck there. The ghosts like having the house to themselves so when Alison and Mike move in they are pissed.

The Review: Luther Season 4

Luther 8/10

I finally got around to watching Series 4 of the BBC show Luther starring Idris Elba. Again, a great example of something being less is more for a TV show. The previous seasons had four episodes but this one had just two of them. To me there has not been a single wasted moment in this series and this was no exception. Considering there were just two episodes that would have been terrible. This continues after the previous season where Luther has left the police force and something happens that upset the shit out of me at the start of the episode. I won't say what but, damn it. I hope its not true. This is the type of show that I can't picture anyone else doing and when I heard there was an American remake possible I just rolled my eyes so hard I fell down.

10 Reasons Why You Should Have Watch Luther

If you have not seen the BBC series Luther starring Idris Elba maybe you just have something against good TV or you're one of those people that say you don't have time to watch TV but spend hours texting every day which proves you are terrible at time management. Or perhaps you are someone that thinks they have enough shows to watch and do not need to see another cop show. Wrong! You can keep your shuffling ass zombies or contests to crown the next a American loser. I'll stick with this show about a detective that is always on the edge of losing his shit.

This is about a Detective Chief Inspector named John Luther. Luther is as someone tells him “Fighting for the dead.” He can not have a healthy relationship no matter how much he thinks he can. He does things that are beyond illegal for what he thinks are good reasons. He could also steal your wife with a wink. That is a superpower I've been working on for years now. This show has now aired three series (that is what they call seasons over there) which consist of six, four, and four episodes. Here are the 10 Reasons Why You Should Have Watch Luther. Don't be stupid. You know this will contain spoilers.

TV Slut: Fleming The Man Who Would Be Bond

Cam told me about this BBC America series Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond which is based on the author and creator of James Bond, Ian Fleming. This is a four part series that is about 45 minutes each episode. Dominic Cooper stars as Fleming and continues to show why he is one of the best actors not getting the attention he deserves. You may know him as Tony Stark's father in the Captain America movies or from his great movie The Devil's Double.

TV Slut: Sherlock

I started watching the Sherlock series from BBC which continues to put out amazing series such as Luther and Being Human. D & H got me into this show which I had kinda heard about but never made any real effort to watch. What I know about the character of Sherlock Holmes is from random information as a child like “Hat, pipe, Watson, English, Moriarty, some dogs in Baskerville, and magnifying glass” and the Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes films. So when I started watching the series I didn’t know quite what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it is!

Sherlock is a dick. Seriously, this guy is not someone you’d want to be around in real life. If you were you’d punch him in the neck. But he is good at his job and has shown that he has the ability to fight so maybe throat chops wouldn’t be a good idea. He calls himself a “consulting detective, the only one in the world.” When the cops cant figure out cases they call him. Some of the cops hate him which of course he doesn’t care about one damned bit.

TV Slut: Luther

There’s a show that comes on BBC that is great. No, not Being Human, because that show wrecked itself in season four. This show is now in its second season and its called Luther. It stars Idris Elba as Detective Chief Inspector John Luther. Luther has what some would call “anger management issues.” I call it “What everyone wants to do at least five times a day but cant because jail sucks!

How everyone feels about IKEA furniture.

The show starts off with Luther getting a confession from a guy that is dangling. Luther lets him drop to his apparent death. The guy ends up in a coma that Luther hopes he never wakes from since he knows that Luther pretty much left him to die. Mix in some crazy broad that killed her parents and the dog and gets away with it and you have yourself a recipe for disaster!

Being Human Jumped The Shark

I hate change. I like things when they are good and don’t change. Hmm. Those sentences alone could explain my failure in relationships. But this isn’t about that. This is about a show I have fallen in love with jumping the shark. Granted, I got to watch three seasons of the show Being Human and they were three amazing seasons. So the horror I felt while watching the new fourth season just crushed me.

Anyone that has spoken to me in the last two weeks have heard me rant and rave about this show. The question “What are you doing?” was usually “Watching Being Human.” I was, and still am, starving for new shows to watch and was past delighted to find this one. It airs on BBC and I live in America and don’t have cable so I didn’t even know it existed but I do have the internet so pfffft. Allow me to give you a quick recap of the show. And if you plan on watching this show you should stop reading right now.
