The Review: P-Valley (Season 1 and 2)

 

P Valley 9/10

Now I know I am super late with writing this review but the show called P Valley needs to be talked about. This might be a little bit confusing since I watched season two and then went back and watch season one. I think what I'm going to try to do is talk about how the characters change between both seasons and of course whether I like these people or not. Now at first I had zero interest in watching this show. I've never been to a strip club, I've never wanted to go to a strip club, have zero interest in going to a strip club because I compare it to going to a buffet and watching other people eat. But this show is about more than just a strip club somehow. I know if you look at any photos from it or ads or anything it looks like the show is nothing but strippers dancing but it really is about more than that. I should also point out that the second season took place during the pandemic (we still in one though!) and the show portrayed it perfectly.

The Review: Charlie's Angels (2019)

This was supposed to be a review but I ended up rambling. There were a lot of shit reboots last year. Terminator Dark Fate, Hellboy, Men In Black International all stank. This movie, Charlie's Angels, was ass. Why did I watch this? I was ironing. I didn't want to watch something I thought would be good so I put this on. If anything it would be cheesy and funny and I could at least be entertained by that. This movie was not cheesy nor funny. I have seen maybe two episodes of the original series. I saw all of the early 2000's movies and they were funny. There was a series I forgot existed until I saw that it did and lasted about four episodes before getting canceled. Now there is this. No one asked for this.

The Review: Ash Vs Evil Dead Season 3

Ash Vs. Evil Dead Season Three 6/10

My best friend Cam accidentally got Starz and by accident I mean that Amazon is up to some sneaky nonsense and everyone should check their accounts. I saw that they had Ash Vs. Evil Dead on there and it took me a week to notice that they had all three seasons. I loved season one. Loved season two. Season three...not so much. It felt like they were trying to do too much with the small amount of time they have. Most shows have twenty episodes or more person season and forty some odd minutes with commercials and such. This show is half an hour each and ten episodes.

The Review: American Gods Episode 8 "Come To Jesus"

American Gods Episode 8 “Come To Jesus”/Season 1 Review 9/10

I am late writing this, I know. This is going to be a review of the final episode of season one of American Gods as well as the entire season. Some of you may be confused as to why I gave this season a 9 out of 10 considering I was all over this show like a cheap suit. Well, it was because of the seventh episode which was hot garbage and had about four seconds of footage that was relevant to anything. In a show that features only eight episodes you can not afford to have one that useless.

Episode eight starts off finally showing the story of Bilquis' fine ass and how she rolled before shoving men and women into her vajayjay in hotel rooms. Oh, this is told by Anansi by the way who I like even more after reading Neil Gaiman's “Anansi Boys.” He is talking to Mr. Wednesday and Shadow. Bilquis, the Queen of Sheba, is running shit back in the day and having cuddle puddles with dozens of men and women. Guys try to step up and bone her and she is all like “Bring it.” They do and then an eclipse happens and the next thing you know they all get melted and sucked into her lady parts. Its wild.

Wow. After six incredible episodes American Gods finally put out an episode that was not just uninteresting, but bad. “A Prayer For Mad Sweeney” was one of the most uninteresting hours of television I've seen in a while which sucks because it seemed to begin as if it were going to be pretty awesome by showing the work of Ibis an Jacquel. But no. It starts off with them working in the morgue and then switches to this long boring ass story about some woman in Ireland named Essie McGowan in the past that is played by Emily Browning.

The Review: American Gods Episode 6 "A Murder Of Gods"

American Gods “A Murder of Gods”

Another week another kick ass episode of American Gods. This one, “A Murder Of Gods”, starts off not with some weird animated story or something from thousands of years ago but a group of people trying to get across the border from Mexico to the US. I kept wondering “Where is this going?” The group, men, women, and children, survive a river and just when they get to land one of them almost drowns in the water. A hand reaches down and pulls him out. The guy then starts walking on water because its Jesus! Like, for reals Jesus. It was nuts! Then a group of guys in trucks with guns with ironically (or not) bible verses on them shoot and kill them all including Jesus who dies in the most Jesus Christ pose ever.

American Gods Episode 5 “Lemon Scented You”

American Gods continues to be awesome. Episode five, “Lemon Scented You”, was Shadow finally coming to the realization that the crazy shit happening around him is actually real. But first the episode starts off with this beautifully animated, I am assuming stop motion, short showing a tribe crossing from Siberia to America thousands of years ago led by a woman name Atsula. They worship a mammoth god named Nunyunnini. Over time the people end up in other tribes to the point where the god and the people are forgotten. This leads perfectly to the story of this episode concerning Mr. Wednesday and his fear of the old gods being forgotten.

The Review: American Gods Episode 1 "The Bone Orchard"

American Gods “The Bone Orchard” 10/10

There will be spoilers. I have wanted to watch this series American Gods ever since I heard it was being made. I loved the book (never read the follow ups which I will do this summer) and when I saw the trailer for this I knew they had gone all out. It stars Ricky Whittle as a newly released prisoner named Shadow Moon. He was arrested for assault a while back but is being released a few days early. He is told that he is getting out but its a few days beforehand because his wife was killed. He has some flashbacks of another prisoner telling him stories and life tips that will later become useful.

This will contain spoilers. Its not often I will watch a show and in the middle of an episode shout “I love this show!” But Ash Vs Evil Dead made me say it a few times. This series aired on Starz which I'm not even sure many people get. If that channel continues to put out shows like this one I'll be happy to watch. AVED is a show that continues from the Evil Dead movies from decades ago. I was late getting into them (I think I was in my early 20's) but quickly loved them. I'd seen Bruce Campbell in shows for years and some Sam Raimi stuff but never really connected the two. In this series Ash played by Bruce Campbell is working at a electronics shop while lying about why he lost his right hand to have sex with women.
