Theater Whore: Sin City 2 A Dame To Kill For

Sin City 2 A Dame To Kill For 6/10

Today Koko and I went to check out Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For. I wasn't expecting too much from this but it was better than I expected it to be. It has been almost ten years since the first film and it shows on some of the actors and actresses most notably Mickey Rourke. Missing were two actors that have passed away since the first film Brittany Murphy as Shellie and Michael Clark Duncan as Manute who was replaced by Dennis Haysbert as well as Devon Aoki as Miho who is pregnant.

The first story is a col short story starring Marv where he wakes up not knowing where he is or what he has been doing. He realizes that he's back in his old neighborhood and chasing these guys that burned a homeless guy. Its pretty fast where he has the guys murdered and kills a few himself while playing back how he got there. Short and sweet and very...very violent.

Theater Whore: Lincoln

I do not know history. Its not that I hated it or anything, I just wasn’t taught it properly We glanced past Columbus, breezed through slavery, and always managed to end around Prohibition. So whatever you can tell me about history, even if you said that dragons once roamed Montana, I’d probably believe you. So as I sat and watched the movie Lincoln most of what was being shown and said was new to me.

I spoke with Cam after watching the movie together and decided that this movie was a perfect example of why I needed to start doing my reviews differently. I tend to recap and entire damned film and attempt to not spoil the ending. Well, this stuff already happened and hopefully anyone reading this knows that slaves are free. Just in case you didn’t know allow me to state that us Blacks are free and the first thing we want are your women! I should probably talk about the movie before I get my ass returned to Africa.

Theater Whore: Looper

I’ve been hearing people talk about this new movie Looper starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis and no one has said it was bad. I have heard that it was good to awesome so I decided to check it out. I learned that I really need to stop listening to people. More. This movie is about who will be referred to as Old Joe (Willis) and Young Joe (Gordon-Levitt) Simmons. It takes place around 2042 where Young Joe is a killer for the mob 30 years in the future. He shows up with his gun, a blunderbuss, victim appears in the middle of a field with silver plates as payment, and he shoots them. He then takes their body and burns it.

You may be asking why go through all this trouble of dealing with a corpse. Well, in the future murdering people is illegal and so is time travel but mobsters don’t give a damn and use it. What confused me about these “Gat Men” as they are called, is that they just wander around with their fucking cannons without being arrested. Loopers have a 30 year contract meaning that after that amount of time their old self is sent back to be killed. They know and accept this. Usually. Young Joe’s telekinetic friend, I’ll get to that nonsense later, Seth played by Paul Dano has his older version sent back and cant kill him. Seth’s older version shows up and sings a song that Young Seth remembers his mother singing to him.

Paul Dano: When Shia LeBeouf is busy.

Old Seth tells him about a Rainmaker in the future. Old Seth gets away since their blunderbuss guns cant shoot well past fifteen feet. Young Seth runs to Young Joe’s house to hide. Young Joe sells him out and by the time Old Seth gets to a meeting place he falls the fuck apart. Whatever they do to the younger version of you effects the older you. First Old Seth’s arm has a scar that tells him where to go. Then his fingers start to vanish. Then his nose. Then his legs come off and his arms. Then he is shot as we see Young Seth being cut on a table. This was the best part of the movie.

Theater Whore: Premium Rush

The streets of New York City are full of lunatics on bikes that dodge in between cars and have little regard for the rules of the road or personal safety! That's what I learned from watching Premium Rush. Yeah, they have couriers like that here in Los Angeles but its concentrated in a very small area Downtown. I had heard about this movie being good and I checked its numbers at the box office and it didn't add up. I had not heard anything bad and wondered why no one was seeing this and it turns out that people have stopped going to the movies for the past few weeks.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as Wilee, a bicycle messenger who is the ebst in the city. Regardless of that he does not make a lot of money. To him its not about that. Its about riding his no brake having ass bike through the city. At the end of his shift he gets a call to deliver a package that has to be there are 7pm. He gets the envelope which is at his former college where he studied to become a lawyer and is stopped by a guy you just know is bad played by Michael Shannon. Wilee leaves his ass in the dust and races off to deliver his shit.
