The Review: Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 (8/10)

Today I decided to break my own rule I just started by watching something I have seen before. I watched Iron Man 2 which I have not seen in years. Two years ago I re-watched Iron Man and it made me appreciate the amount of growth the character has had in all these years since it happened. I felt the same way watching this one. Iron Man 3 I don't wanna talk about. I forgot that the villain in this one, Whiplash played by Mickey Rourke, had a good reason to be upset and really got into Tony Stark's mind. Robert Downey Jr. was in the damned groove making this. I had forgotten how irresponsible Iron Man had become. This takes place months after the first film and Stark is getting drunk, having parties, and scaring the hell out of anyone associated with his company.

Theater Whore: Spider-Man Homecoming

Spider-Man Homecoming 9 ½/10

Oh, I had all of the fun watching Spider-Man Homecoming! There will be some spoilers in this. I'm not gonna review this like I do other movies and cover it completely or anything. This movie is everything that as a fan of Tom Holland in Civil War and rated Holland as the best Spider-Man that I wanted. He was nerdy, he lacked confidence, had a great support group, and wasn't hated by everyone. This movie also had a really good supporting cast. It wasn't just about Spider-Man struggling with his powers and being hated by everyone in the city. He was an actual friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man which is something all other five films failed to do. People would see him and get hype and then ask him to do tricks. It also showed that crime is not always happening and sometimes there isn't even when Spider-Man thinks there is.

The Review: Iron Man

Iron Man 9/10

I had not watched this movie in years. I remember liking it, watched it maybe two more times, then moved on to the other shit ton of Marvel movies that have come out. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie more now than I could recall. I mean, I knew I liked it and it launched all the other movies. This came out in 2008 and the effects still look good. Its funny that not even ten years later that I can make a comment like that but CGI changes so damned fast now that even The Matrix is laughable when you watch it today. Bullet time my ass. They do that in candy commercials now.

Theater Whore: Captain America Civil War

Captain America Civil War 10/10

No complaints! I have none regarding this movie. There will be some spoilers. I got back from seeing Captain America Civil War and am already planning to watch it at least one more time in theaters. This is more of an Avengers movie than Captain America which is not a problem for me. This movie had more surprises than I expected as well as characters. If you haven't seen the movie yet you really should not read this unless you care about spoilers. This was a great film.

Theater Whore: The Judge

The Judge 5/10

Oh, The Judge could've been so damned good. I'm talking about everyone talking about it, award talk, and seeing it a few times in the theater. But there was something missing from this. I have a few ideas of what they could have done to make this better. This stars Robert Downey Jr. as Hank Palmer. He is a good lawyer but having hard times with his personal life. He and his wife are in the process of divorcing and he finds out that his mother just died. By the way, the only reason any family gets together is because a parent dies.

Hank heads to his old town that he hasn't been to in twenty years to attend the funeral. He sees his brothers Glen played by Vincent D'Onofrio and Dale played by Jeremy Strong. He also reluctantly talks to his father Judge Joseph Palmer played by Robert Duvall. You can tell immediately that they do not get along and haven't spoken in all the twenty years Hank was gone.

Theater Whore: Iron Man 3

It took me forever to do it but I finally got around to seeing Iron Man 3 starring Robert Downey Jr. And boy was I disappointed. I have really liked the previous Iron man movies, even part two which a lot of people shit on. I was looking forward to this one for so many reasons and each of those reasons was kind of dashed away. I knew Downey would be good as Tony Stark/Iron Man. That wasn’t my worry at all. I was looking forward to the villain, seeing a bunch of Iron Man suits wrecking things, and hopefully a cameo from one of The Avengers

The movie is about Stark being mentally fucked after his short trip through that wormhole at the end of Avengers. He cant sleep and it is affecting his behavior. Guy Pearce shows up and he’d met Stark years ago and since then looks all swarthy and getting cozy with Gwenyth Paltrow’s Pepper Parks. Pearce was pretty much Sam Rockwell with more screen time. I just saw this movie and am having trouble trying to figure out the order of things. It is all jumbled which makes sense because that is how this movie was.

DVDiculous: Sherlock Holmes: Game Of Shadows

I don’t know why the hell it took me so long to finally get around to watching Sherlock Holmes: Game Of Shadows. I enjoyed the hell out of the first one and knew this one would be good. Ever since Guy Ritchie split with Madonna he’s been making good films again. And this was no exception.

Robert Downey Jr. is back again as the title character with Jude Law as Watson. The two of them work so damned well together it makes me sick. The movie starts with Holmes being stranger than we last saw him, almost as if his ass is losing his mind. There have been a series of explosions that have been killing high ranking officials. He also finds out that Watson is getting married.

"Bad Ass Mofo": Robert Downey Jr.

“I've noticed that worrying is like praying for what you don't want to happen. I don't worry, but I observe where my mind tends to go.” Robert Downey Jr.

I know its been a while since I posted one of these. What with my work situation, trying not to kill myself, and just plain old not knowing who the hell was bad enough to be a Bad Ass Mofo, I didn’t know what to do. But then I was watching Tropic Thunder and laughing so hard at Lincoln Osiris during commentary and then flipping through my channels and found a special about this weeks BAM that hit me like a bolt of lightning. I present to you…Robert Downey Jr.!
