Best Movies Of The Year 2021

2021 had some really good movies considering that I wasn't able to go to theaters. I went once and it was to see a 1940's film and that felt weird. But streaming channels stepped up and supplied me with a lot of entertainment. This list is very much all over the place but I'm happy that four of them would be considered Black films. Links for each full review below.

Best Movies Of The Year 2019

This year of movies ended up turning out way better than I expected. The last few years I have been seeing less and less of them and not because tickets cost too damn much but because there is so much better shit coming out on subscription services and good movies are coming out few and far between. This is my list of the Best Movies Of The Year 2019. Or BMOTY. You can click here and see what they were for previous years if you feel like it. There for sure will be movies you see on here that you absolutely hated, had no desire to see, or just thought was okay. I gathered movies that I rated an 8 or higher. There were none past 10 this year. Yeah. That's a thing I do sometimes. Its obnoxious. I will also be doing a Worst Movies Of The Year in a day or so. Also, each title has a link to the original blog post.

Best Movies Of The Year 2018

This has been a really rough year for movies for Dante. Yeah, third person. Handle it. There were good movies at the start of the year and then a few at the end. I had hoped that most of my favorite movies would not just be superhero films but they just keep making good superhero films so they made my list. There have been some good TV shows and perhaps I'll make a list of some new and recent series I think you should check out. I know that it is getting close to that time of year where the Oscar films come out and it is always some true story I don't give a damn about or something about uplifting struggles. Fuck all that. I don't go to the movies for reality which is why BlacKkKlansman is not on here. Fuck the multiple endings to that movie and the news footage shown. There are a couple of movies like that one where my rating was not high enough to be the best and not low enough to be the worst. So here are in my opinion the Best Movies Of The Year 2018.

Best Movies Of 2017

This was a rough ass year for movies. I was only able to come up with ten films. Movies were either really awesome or just terrible. This is going to be my list of The Best Movies Of 2017 and you will notice that a lot of them are superhero based ones. That is not my fault. Blame movies just not being good enough or Oscar bait. If I see Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Steven Spielberg, or Glenn Close I yawn and say I'll watch it later because I know what is going on. They cram these movies into the end of the year so people go “Oh, this movie is amazing!” meaning “This movie just came out and I remember it!” Let me stop. I'll be ranting about that the closer it gets to the awards. Here is my list. Feel free to disagree and be wrong. All titles are links to my original reviews.

Best Movies Of 2016

This is a list of my twelve favorite movies of 2016. It started off really rough with good films being few and far between but started to pick up towards the end of the year. While quite a few of these are blockbuster superhero films there were some really good small films that came out this year that you should check out. I ended up seeing close to 40 new movies which sounds like a lot but I usually see closer to 70. If you disagree with this list go get a hobby.

"I got to see La La Land with Cam at the Arclight over on Sunset and I have to say that this movie made me all kinds of happy! Just pure happy! This is why movies are made and why I go to see them. I love when a movie makes me feel something strongly whether its joy, excitement, or laughter."

Best Movies Of 2015

As 2015 began to wind on down I was worried that I wouldn't even have enough good movies to create a top ten list. Turns out that better movies came out in the last few months which even though Camille reminds me of this each year I still rage against it demanding good movies all year long, not just during award season. I looked through and read my reviews for every new movie I watched this year and even included five honorable mentions. Click here to check out my Top 12 Best Films Of 2014.

You know I really enjoyed a movie when I was expecting car chases and explosions but end up seeing a movie where people wear clothes that when I see them in posters immediately turn me off as a movie goer.

Quote from review. “This movie was good. It wasn't an explosion fest, there's not a ton of violence, a dog gets shot, and I could not figure out how this was going to end. I thought it was going one way, it went another, then I figured out how it'd go, then it didn't.”

If you had seen me in the theater watching this movie you would have thought that I had personally invested money in this and my livelihood depended on the success of it. This film was awesome as shit.

Quote from review. “I think if I had any complaint it would be Thor. I am just not digging him but it isn't enough to change my opinion about this movie. Go see it along with the rest of the world.”

Top 12 Best Films of 2014

As bad of a year as it was for movies (click here to check out my Top 12 Worse Films Of 2014) there were way more good movies than I thought there'd be. Some I didn't expect much from and others came out of nowhere to blow my mind. Here is my list of the Top 12 Best Films Of 2014.

This movie was fucking awesome. The first film was better than it had any right to be and this was even better than the first. If you had told me years ago that out of all of the Marvel films that Captain America would be the best one I never would've believed you. This movie made me cheer in the theater which is rare. No, its not. I'm ghetto as fuck.

Top 5 Best & Worst Films Of 2013

Oh, what a year it has been for movies. Good films were very few and far between while horrible ones just ran rampant. This year it was hard to find five good films of the year because most of the films I enjoyed the most I've in the last month and since I am only doing five I had to shave off a lot of bad ones, otherwise this would have been best five films and twenty worst. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with my choices. Tough shit. Make your own list, you weirdo.

Best Movies Of 2012 According To Dante

I have watched 46 films this year not including things I watched on DVD that I missed in theaters which is by far the most I’ve ever seen especially when I remember that at the end of 2011 I was looking forward to only three movies coming out (click here to see what I loved last year). This was a year of really surprisingly good films across the board ranging from really big budget films to very small ones to films with massive budgets that were just terrible nonsense.

This list isn’t going to be in any particular order. Just the ones I felt were the best and the worst to me. I know that my taste in films is…different. Some of you have seen some of these and will disagree with me in which case you can write your list on your blog or write to me and I will raise my left eyebrow and take a deep breath as I figure out a polite way to let you know that your opinion doesn’t count. I’m kidding. But totally not.

The Best Films Of 2011 According To Dante

At the beginning of the year I was expecting to have my heart broken by a series of crappy films. I honestly believed that I was going to head to the theaters maybe once and that would be it. I was so wrong! This was the most I’d gone to the theater in years! I decided to compile a list of The Best Films Of 2011 According To Dante. I don’t care about award shows anymore so I wont even bring up who should win what. Let’s hope in the next week before the end of the year that I don’t see another great film. Click the titles to read my original reviews.

Best Films Of 2010

In a year that seemed to start off rather week but finish ridiculously strong I kind of had to struggle to find ten films that I truly enjoyed. But try I did and this is what I came up with. These films range from action, suspense, drama, and animation. I don’t like just one style of film and neither should you. Let me know what you think.

10. Girl With Dragon Tattoo

Great film that had me sitting in the theater and just glued to the screen. There was no way for me to figure out how this movie would end and where it was headed. Ignore the sequels and the future remake and just watch this, the original.

9. Secret Of The Eyes

Would never have seen this if not for my worldly friend. I hadn’t felt this way about this type of film since The Usual Suspects
