DVDiculous: Quantum Of Solace

Why is the hell did I wait four years to finally watch Quantum Of Solace? Granted, I’m not a huge James Bond fan but I did like Casino Royale quite a bit. So randomly I watched this and damn this movie is nuts! I know a lot of people don’t like Daniel Craig as Bond but out of all the 007 films I’ve seen this dude is my favorite one.

Don't cut Bond off in traffic.

The movie starts off with Bond in a car chase/shootout. I don’t mean this happens after some witty dialogue or something. Right from the get-go there is shooting and cars crashing. For people who are fans of the car Bond drives I felt bad because this door, as you can see, gets wrecked. He survives of course and has someone in the trunk for questioning.

007 keeps Neosporin in business.

During the course of the interrogation M. played by Judi Dench finds out that there is an evil organization that has its fingers in everything. Including M16! This guy who was working for M. for the last eight years is bad and leads Bond on an awesome chase that goes through houses, crowds, rooftops, a warehouse. M. gets pissed because Bond keeps killing people and shrugging like “Meh. It happened.” He doesn’t give a damn about killing folks.

"Fucking, 007. I swear..."

Bond ends up meeting this chick in Haiti of course after killing another person and saves her on a insane boat chase. She is working with the evil guy, Dominic Greene, who pimps her off to this general she has always wanted to meet. As I’m writing this I’m realizing that there are a lot of twists and turns in this. The bad guy doesn’t look obviously evil and isn’t, like, huge. He’s just a dick and sometimes that’s all it takes.

Well, that and epic rape eyes.

What I like most about these Bond films is that he is reckless, he is sloppy, and he is ruthless. There’s no winking at the camera before climbing into bed with a woman. He’s very serious when it comes to his job. He even fights his own people to prove his points. And the chick in the film played by Olga Kurylenko is too damned cute to not be helping.
