TV Slut: Mortal Kombat Legacy

It had to have been like late last year when the Mortal Kombat Rebirth came out and I saw it. I watched it and was immediately screaming “When is this being made into a movie?!” I mean, as much as I love the first Mortal Kombat film, it was lacking in so many areas. Still, nothing like watching Goro get punched in the nuts by Johnny Cage.

Every episode is available on Youtube and the 1st season had an episode up every Tuesday which was cool. These aren’t cheap looking fan made films. Not knocking fan made films because for some reason some of them are better than movies having millions dumped into them. One particular episode with Scorpion and Sub Zero was so cool. In a few minutes they managed to get the entire history of Scorpion and his return from the grave. That is not a spoiler! Everyone knows that after the murder of his family Scorpion came back from the dead to avenge them!

Many of the familiar characters from the video game are here including some you may not be familiar with. Cyrax and Sektor are two characters that I have seen but never used in the game. Their episode is awesome. They have even managed to make Jax interesting. He’s played by Black Dynamite himself Michael Jai White. What he does to Kano is awesome and very graphic.

One of my favorite episodes was the Raiden one. In this version he is found on the grounds of an insane asylum and taken inside. He screams that he is a god and this of course doesn’t go over well with the staff. He gets two lobotomies and still manages to wreck shit. Eventually after getting tasered he gets some of his power back. This was a cool take on a character that was pretty much neutered in the movies.

I have included the Mortal Kombat Rebirth short film at the bottom of this article and to watch each episode just CLICK HERE. You will not regret it. Except maybe that one animated episode. It was kinda weak.
